  • Many sorts of image processing software facilitate image editing and also generate a great number of doctored images. Forensic technology emerges to detect the unintentional or malicious image operations. Most of forensic methods focus on the detection of single operations. However, a series of operations may be used to sequentially manipulate an image, which makes the operation detection problem complex. Forensic investigators always want to know as much exhaustive information about a suspicious image's entire processing history as possible. The detection of the operation chain, consisting of a series of operations, is a significant and challenging problem in the research field of forensics. In this paper, based on the histogram distribution uniformity of a manipulated image, we propose an operation chain detection scheme to identify histogram equalization (HE) followed by the dither-like operation (DLO). Two histogram features and a local spatial feature are utilized to further determine which DLO may have been applied. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results verify the effectiveness of our proposed scheme for both global and local scenarios.

  • A multi-rotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system is developed to solve the manhole cover detection problem for the infrastructure maintenance in the suburbs of big city. The visible light sensor is employed to collect the ground image data and a series of image processing and machine learning methods are used to detect the manhole cover. First, the image enhancement technique is employed to improve the imaging effect of visible light camera. An imaging environment perception method is used to increase the computation robustness: the blind Image Quality Evaluation Metrics (IQEMs) are used to percept the imaging environment and select the images which have a high imaging definition for the following computation. Because of its excellent processing effect the adaptive Multiple Scale Retinex (MSR) is used to enhance the imaging quality. Second, the Single Shot multi-box Detector (SSD) method is utilized to identify the manhole cover for its stable processing effect. Third, the spatial coordinate of manhole cover is also estimated from the ground image. The practical applications have verified the outdoor environment adaptability of proposed algorithm and the target detection correctness of proposed system. The detection accuracy can reach 99% and the positioning accuracy is about 0.7 meters.

  • The detection accuracy of steganalysis depends on many factors, including the embedding algorithm, the payload size, the steganalysis feature space and the properties of the cover source. In practice, the cover source mismatch (CSM) problem has been recognized as the single most important factor negatively affecting the performance. To address this problem, we propose a new framework for blind, universal steganalysis which uses traditional steganalyst features. Firstly, cover images with the same statistical properties are searched from a reference image database as aided samples. The test image and its aided samples form a whole test set. Then, by assuming that most of the aided samples are innocent, we conduct outlier detection on the test set to judge the test image as cover or stego. In this way, the framework has removed the need for training. Hence, it does not suffer from cover source mismatch. Because it performs anomaly detection rather than classification, this method is totally unsupervised. The results in our study show that this framework works superior than one-class support vector machine and the outlier detector without considering the image retrieval process.

  • When dealing with outdoor images in a variety of computer vision applications, the presence of shadow degrades performance. In order to understand the information occluded by shadow, it is essential to remove the shadow. To solve this problem, in many studies, involves a two-step process of shadow detection and removal. However, the field of shadow detection based on CNN has greatly improved, but the field of shadow removal has been difficult because it needs to be restored after removing the shadow. In this paper, it is assumed that shadow is detected, and shadow-less image is generated by using original image and shadow mask. In previous methods, based on CGAN, the image created by the generator was learned from only the aspect of the image patch in the adversarial learning through the discriminator. In the contrast, we propose a novel method using a discriminator that judges both the whole image and the local patch at the same time. We not only use the residual generator to produce high quality images, but we also use joint loss, which combines reconstruction loss and GAN loss for training stability. To evaluate our approach, we used an ISTD datasets consisting of a single image. The images generated by our approach show sharp and restored detailed information compared to previous methods.

  • Image saliency detection is the basis of perceptual image processing, which is significant to subsequent image processing methods. Most saliency detection methods can detect only a single object with a high-contrast background, but they have no effect on the extraction of a salient object from images with complex low-contrast backgrounds. With the prior knowledge, this paper proposes a method for detecting salient objects by combining the boundary contrast map and the geodesics-like maps. This method can highlight the foreground uniformly and extract the salient objects efficiently in images with low-contrast backgrounds. The classical receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve, which compares the salient map with the ground truth map, does not reflect the human perception. An ROC curve with distance (distance receiver operating characteristic, DROC) is proposed in this paper, which takes the ROC curve closer to the human subjective perception. Experiments on three benchmark datasets and three low-contrast image datasets, with four evaluation methods including DROC, show that on comparing the eight state-of-the-art approaches, the proposed approach performs well.

  • This paper suggests the navigation information display system which is based on augmented reality technology and especially focuses on image analysis technology. Navigator has to always confirm the information from marine electronic navigation devices and then they compare with the view of outside targets of the windows. During this 'head down' posture, they feel uncomfortable and sometimes it cause near-accidents such as collision or missing objects, because he or she cannot keep an eye on the front view of windows. Augmented reality can display both of information of virtual and real in a single display. Therefore we tried to adapt the AR technology to help navigators and have been studied and developed image pre-processing module as a previous research already. To analysis the outside view of the bridge window, we have extracted navigational information from the camera image by using image processing. This paper mainly describes about recognizing ship feature by haar-like feature and filtering region of interest area by AIS data, which are to improve accuracy of the image analysis.

  • It has been stated that the outer skin of an architecture should be related to and express the interior programs. It was rather moral issue than practicality. In contemporary urban cities, this nicely-linked relationship between exterior and interior has become much more complex and, in many cases, is no more valid. It tends that contemporary architectural skin is somehow separately developed and has its own logic to be independent from what is inside. This research focuses on these sort of logical design process to make unique image of skin in which conceptual thinking, spatialization and materialization are mixed together. More specifically this study articulates' expandable patternization process' based on the notion that it has a crucial role to systematically construct an image of skin. Expandable patternization has a couple of stages to complete an architectural skin. The first element is a single unit and the second is organization or arrangement of units based on a logical process. Lastly, the third is spatialization after relating the skin to the interior programs as well as environmental surroundings. It is found that, although, in most related projects, the architect or designer has followed his or her own preference or design tendencies, many skin projects has based the given unique characteristics from the beginning. This study concludes that skin design is not just an image making, but has an important role to amalgamate various aspects of an architectural projects: programs, concept of architect, environment, structure as well as image.

  • Look direction bias in a single look SAR image can often be misinterpreted in the geological application of radar data. This paper investigates digital processing techniques for SAR image data integration and compensation of the SAR data look direction bias. The two important approaches for reducing look direction bias and integration of multiple SAR data sets are (1) principal component analysis (PCA), and (2) wavelet transform(WT) integration techniques. These two methods were investigated and tested with the ERS-1 (VV-polarization) and CCRS*s airborne (HH-polarization) C-SAR image data sets recorded over the Sudbury test site, Canada. The PCA technique has been very effective for integration of more than two layers of digital image data. When there only two sets of SAR data are available, the PCA thchnique requires at least one more set of auxiliary data for proper rendition of the fine surface features. The WT processing approach of SAR data integration utilizes the property which decomposes images into approximated image ( low frequencies) characterizing the spatially large and relatively distinct structures, and detailed image (high frequencies) in which the information on detailed fine structures are preserved. The test results with the ERS-1and CCRS*s C-SAR data indicate that the new WT approach is more efficient and robust in enhancibng the fine details of the multiple SAR images than the PCA approach.

  • This research aims to construct a model that combines brand love, brand loyalty, brand image, customer satisfaction, and service quality into a single model, with brand loyalty coming foremost, and test its predictive power in building brand love. Moreover, mediating effect of customer satisfaction and brand image on service quality and brand loyalty affecting brand love was checked. The study adopted an alliance context using an existing SERVQUAL model, a bi-dimensional aspect of brand loyalty and parasocial love relationship theory, to identify brand love as a construct or outcome in the consumer-brand relationship. Using a quantitative approach, survey questionnaires were distributed by unrestricted random sampling among 507 Saudia Airlines customers. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 3.0. The results revealed significant relationships between four variables except for the brand image. It was found that brand image had no mediating effect on the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty. The outcome of this study highlights the importance of airline alliances for service quality, which leads to positive customer satisfaction, brand image, and customer loyalty. A unique contribution of the study is that it revealed that brand loyalty is also an antecedent of brand love.
