The vibration and stability of thin, flexible corotating disks in an enclosed compressible fluid is investigated analytically and compared with the results of a single rotating disk. The discretized dynamical system of the corotating disks is derived in the compact form of a classical gyroscopic system similar with a single disk. For the undamped system, coupled structure-acoustic traveling waves destabilize through mode coalescence leading to flutter instability. However, it is found that the flutter regions of the corotating disks are wider than those of a single disk. A detailed investigation of the effects of dissipation arising from acoustic or disk damping is also performed. Finally, in the presence of both acoustic and disk dampings, the instability regions are found and compared with those of a single disk. Although this study does not allow a radial clearance between the disk and the enclosure, the computational frame work of the problem can be expanded to the system having the radial clearance in an enclosure.

This paper presents a new software-based on-line dead-time compensation technique for a single-phase grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) inverter system. To prevent a short circuit in the inverter arms, a switching delay time must be inserted in the pulse width modulation (PWM) signals. This causes the dead-time effect, which degrades the system performance around zero-crossing point of the output current. To reduce the dead-time effect around the zero-crossing point of grid current, a harmonic mitigation of grid current is used as an additional part of the synchronous frame current control scheme. This additional task mitigates the harmonic components caused by the dead-time from the grid current. Simulation and experimental results are shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed dead-time compensation method in the single-phase grid-connected inverter system.
The major causes of power quality deterioration are harmonic current through semiconductor switching device, due to use of nonlinear loads such as diodes rectifier or thyristor rectifiers. In response to this concerns, this paper presents a new control method of single-phase active power filter(APF) for the compensation of harmonic current components in nonlinear loads. In order to make the complex calculation to be possible, the single-phase system that has two phases was made by constructing a imaginary second-phase giving time delay to load currents. In the conventional method, a imaginary-phase lagged to the load current T/4(here T is the fundamental cycle) was made. But in this proposed method, the new signal, which has the delayed phase through the filter, using the phase-delay property of low-pass filter, was used as the second phase. As this control method is applied to the system of single phase, an instantaneous calculation was done rather by using the rotating reference frames that synchronizes with source-frequency than by applying instantaneous reactive power theory that uses the conventional fixed reference frames.

A long-term variation of electrode polarization in the MCFC has been analyzed successfully using a single cell with a Au, $CO_2/O_2$ reference electrode Four different cells with different components were operated and their electrode polarizations were analyzed. As published in the literatures, the cathode polarization was larger than that of the anode. The more stable operation of a single cell with the Al-coated cell frame up to 6,000hrs indicates that the corrosion at the cell frame, particularly wet seal area, plays an important role to determine the lifetime of a MCFC. At the initial stage of the cell operation, the voltage of the cell using a cathode stabilized by the $LiCoO_2$ coating was relatively low due to the high cathode polarization. As the cell was operated and the stabilized cathode was lithiated sufficiently, the cathode polarization decreased and the cell voltage was recovered. It was observed that the voltage of the cell using the $Li_2CO_3/Na_2CO_3$ electrolyte fluctuated with operation time and the cathode polarization fluctuated along with the cell voltage quite similarly. Although the mechanisms of the voltage fluctuation were not clear yet, the results imply that the voltage fluctuation was related with a reaction in the cathode side. After testing every single cell, the cathode polarization increased with the steep decrease in the cell voltage. Thus, the cathode should be improved in order to develop more durable MCFC.

In this study, a nonlinear dynamic analysis of a frame and single member, which reflect the characteristics of a plant facility, is performed using the commercial MIDAS GEN program and the results are analyzed. The general structural members and material properties of the plant are considered. The Newmark average-acceleration numerical-analysis method is applied to a plastic hinge to study material nonlinearity. The blast load of a vapor-cloud explosion, a representative plant explosion, is calculated, and nonlinear dynamic analysis is conducted on a frame and single member. The observed dynamic behavior is organized according to the ratio of natural period to load duration, maximum displacement, ductility, and rotation angle. The conditions and range under which the frame functions as a single member are analyzed and derived. NSFF with a beam-column stiffness ratio of 0.5 and ductility of 2.0 or more can be simplified and analyzed as FFC, whereas NSPF with a beam-column stiffness ratio of 0.5 and ductility of 1.5 or more can be simplified and analyzed as FPC. The results of this study can serve as guidelines for the blast-resistant design of plant facilities.

In this paper, we propose a frame rate conversion algorithm using adaptive search-based motion estimation (ME). The proposed ME method uses recursive search, 3-step search, and single predicted search as candidates for search strategy. The best method among the three candidates is adaptively selected on a block basis according to the predicted motion type. The adaptation of the search method improves the accuracy of the estimated motion vectors while curbing the increase of computational load. To support the proposed ME method, an entire image is divided into three regions with different motion types. Experimental results show that the proposed FRC method achieves better image quality than existing algorithms in both subjective and objective measures.

The traditional block-based motion compensation methods in frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) only use a single uniquely motion vector field. However, there will always be some mistakes in the motion vector field whether the advanced motion estimation (ME) and motion vector analysis (MA) algorithms are performed or not. Once the motion vector field has many mistakes, the quality of the interpolated frame is severely affected. In order to solve the problem, this paper proposes a novel joint overlapped block motion compensation method (8J-OBMC) which adopts motion vectors of the interpolated block and its 8-neighbor blocks to jointly interpolate the target block. Since the smoothness of motion filed makes the motion vectors of 8-neighbor blocks around the interpolated block quite close to the true motion vector of the interpolated block, the proposed compensation algorithm has the better fault-tolerant capability than traditional ones. Besides, the annoying blocking artifacts can also be effectively suppressed by using overlapped blocks. Experimental results show that the proposed method is not only robust to motion vectors estimated wrongly, but also can to reduce blocking artifacts in comparison with existing popular compensation methods.

This paper presents an integrated receiver to support multimode broadcasting standards such as DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 in a single platform. The integrated receiver consists of a tuner block, a receiver engine, a frame processor, and an A/V decoder. The receiver engine includes a channel decoding engine and a demodulation engine to perform OFDM and APSK demodulations. The frame processor performs deinterleaving and BB frame decoding functions. The demodulator engine and the frame processor are implemented in two FPGA devices and DSP-based embedded software, respectively. To verify the functionality of the integrated receiver, it is tested in the laboratory. Commercial PC-based modulators are used to generate the DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 modulated signals. The integrated receiver was tested under various operation modes as specified in the standards such as DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 and showed successful operation in all the scenarios tested.

It follows in deterioration of the steel frame structure and becomes remodeling and removal. The construction work characteristic, economical efficiency and stability environment characteristic are planned and considered hereafter control plan of the steel frame structure which is deteriorated currently to cutting mettled plentifully sued on gas cutting of H beam. However it will not be able to apply from the explosives demolition which is makes a weak instantaneously and then collapses the building at the time. In this study, shape charge was used for cutting of the H-beam. That is the element testing to estimate explosives demolition for steel frame structure. As a result, it is found for single-side rutting method, both-sides rutting methods by H-beam thickness and pre-rutting process. It confirmed an affix method and an ease characteristic by fixing tool. Also, it is shown that air blasting decreased about 8dB(A) in order to reduce air blasting used by sand box. However, it will be required to reduce air blasting little more because explosives demolition will be done in urban site.
We investigate the correlation between the peak energy and the burst duration using available long GRB data with known redshift, whose circumburst medium type has been suggested via afterglow light curve modeling. We find that the peak energy and the burst duration of the observed GRBs are correlated both in the observer frame and in the GRB rest frame. For our total sample we obtain, for instance, the Spearman rank-order correlation values ${\sim}0.75\;and\;{\sim}0.65$ with the chance probabilities $P=1.0{\times}10^{-3}\;and\;P=6.0{\times}10^{-3}$ in the observer frame and in the GRB rest frame, respectively. We note that taking the effects of the expanding universe into account reduces the value a bit. We further attempt to separate our GRB sample into the 'ISM' GRBs and the 'WIND' GRBs according to environment models inferred from the afterglow light curves and apply statistical tests, as one may expect that clues on the progenitor of GRBs can be deduced directly from prompt emission properties other than from the ambient environment surrounding GRBs. We find that two subsamples of GRBs show different correlation coefficients. That is, the Spearman rank-order correlation are ${\sim}0.65\;and\;{\sim}0.57$ for the 'ISM' GRBs and 'WIND' GRBs, respectively, after taking the effects of the expanding universe into account. It is not yet, however, statistically very much significant that the GRBS in two types of circumburst media show statistically characteristic behaviors, from which one may conclude that all the long bursts are not originated from a single progenitor population. A larger size of data is required to increase the statistical significance.
