The coercivity of near single domain size $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$-type particles prepared by ball milling of HDDR-treated $Nd_{12.5}Fe_{80.6}B_{6.4}Ga_{0.3}Nb_{0.2}$ alloy was investigated. The feasibility of a surface nitrogenation for improving the coercivity stability of the fine $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$-type particles was also studied. The near single domain size $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$-type particles had a high coercivity of over 9 kOe. However, the coercivity radically deteriorated as the temperature increased in air (< 2 kOe at $200^{\circ}C$). This coercivity reduction was attributed to the soft magnetic phases, ${\alpha}$-Fe and $Fe_3B$, which formed on the surface of the fine particle due to oxidation. Surface nitrogenation of the fine particles significantly improved the stability of their coercivity. The improvement in coercivity stability was attributed to the formation of a thin nitrogenated layer on the surface of the fine $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$-type particles, which enhanced the anisotropy field and gave improved resistance to oxidation (dissociation).
Periodic layered domain structures in doped LiNbO3 crystals grown by Czochralski method were obtained by thermal fluctuation and crystal rotation with inhomogeneous radial temprature distribution. The stressinduced domain formation mechanism model was suggested and discussed.
The domain structures, dielectric properties, and phase transformation of (001)-oriented $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-x%PbTiO_3$ (PMN-x%PT) crystals for x=20, 30, 35, and 40 mole% have been investigated. PMN-20%PT consists of polar nano-domains (PND) which do not self-assemble into macro-domain plates. PMN-30%PT consists of PNDs which begin to self-assemble into colonies along preferred {110} planes. PMN-35PT consists of miniature polar domains on the nm scale. PMN-40%PT consists of {001} oriented lamella domains on the mm scale that have internal nano-scale heterogeneities. The dielectric properties of poled (001) PMN-x%PT single crystals have been measured for orientations both parallel and perpendicular to the [001] poling direction. The results of the temperature dependence of the dielectric constant and mesh scans for the 30%PT sample demonstrate that the initial monoclinic phase changes to single domain tetragonal phase and to cubic phase with increasing temperature.
Background: Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is an infectious disease caused by the peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) that mainly produces respiratory symptoms in affected animals, resulting in great losses in the world's agriculture industry every year. Single-domain variable heavy chain (VHH) antibody fragments, also referred to as nanobodies, have high expression yields and other advantages including ease of purification and high solubility. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to obtain a single-domain antibody with good reactivity and high specificity against PPRV. Methods: A VHH cDNA library was established by immunizing camels with PPRV vaccine, and the capacity and diversity of the library were examined. Four PPRV VHHs were selected, and the biological activity and antigen-binding capacity of the four VHHs were identified by western blot, indirect immunofluorescence, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) analyses. ELISA was used to identify whether the four VHHs were specific for PPRV, and VHH neutralization tests were carried out. ELISA and western blot analyses were used to identify which PPRV protein was targeted by VHH2. Results: The PPRV cDNA library was constructed successfully. The library capacity was greater than 2.0 × 106 cfu/mL, and the inserted fragment size was approximately 400 bp to 2000 bp. The average length of the cDNA library fragment was about 1000 bp, and the recombination rate was approximately 100%. Four single-domain antibody sequences were selected, and proteins expressed in the supernatant were obtained. The four VHHs were shown to have biological activity, close affinity to PPRV, and no cross-reaction with common sheep diseases. All four VHHs had neutralization activity, and VHH2 was specific to the PPRV M protein. Conclusions: The results of this preliminary research of PPRV VHHs showed that four screened VHH antibodies could be useful in future applications. This study provided new materials for inclusion in PPRV research.

$Nd_2O_3$0.2~0.5 wt.% doped $LiNbO_3$single crystals were grown by the Czochralski method. The ZnO doping by 2~8 mole% can improve the resistance of optical damage. In this study, Nd : LiNbO$_3$ single crystals with the periodical domain structure were obtained by CZ method.
In this paper, we consider iterative soft-decision feedback equalizers (sDFE), a.k.a. turbo equalizers for single-carrier transmission. Turbo equalizer takes log-likelihood ratio (LLR) feedback from channel decoder and convert the LLR into symbol estimates and variances to be used for the LLR update at the sDFE. Specifically, we consider both time domain and frequency-domain sDFE and compare their performances. The results shows that frequency-domain sDFE performs better than time-domain one and also that considerable gain can be obtained especially when the channel has deep nulls.
The teleosts represent ancient real-bony vertebrates in phylogeny and resemble major genetic patterns to higher vertebrates. In the present study, we have defined the single family of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) from flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus), compared to the prototype of IGFs observed in the Agnathan hagfish. In flounder, IGFs are clearly diverged into two major types including type I and II, and they are structurally similar by displaying a multidomain structure consisting of five functional regions as previously found in other vertebrates. However, flIGF-I appears to be more basic (pI 8.03) than the flIGF-II (pI 5.34) in the fully processed form for the B to D domain region. The flIGF-I seems to contain an evolutionary conserved Asn-linked glycosylation in E domain, which is not found in flIGFII. The most interesting feature is that flIGF-II appeared to be structurally close to hagfish IGF in secondary structures, particularly in Band D domains. This could tell us an idea on the molecular divergence of IGFs from the Agnatha to teleosts during the vertebrate phylogeny. It also support, in part, a notion regarding on how IGF-II is appeared as more embryonic during development. Nonetheless, the biologically active B to D domain region of flIGF-II shows significant sequence homology of $65.6\%$ to flIGF-Is and contains the evolutionary conserved insulin-family signature, as well as a reserved recognition site (Lys) in D domain, necessary to generate proteolytic cleavage for E-peptide. A significant structural difference was found in E domain in which flIGF-I possesses two potential alternative splicing donor site at $Val^{17,\;24}$ of E domain. Therefore, it seems so far that IGF-I sorely produces spliced variants due to the spliced E-peptide moiety while IGF-II appears to be maintained in a single type during evolution. IGF-II, however, may be also possible to transcribe unidentified variants, depending on the physiological conditions of tissues in vertebrates in vivo.
We investigate the spin dynamics of the magnetic domain wall using the magnetic noise in the magnetic nanowire structure by employing micromagnetic simulations. Magnetic noise due to the thermal fluctuations in ferromagnetic materials is related to magnetic susceptibility and resonance frequency, which are important physical quantities in the study of the spin dynamics. In this study, we present the magnetic noise of the single domain without magnetic domain wall, and with the magnetic domain wall between two magnetic domains in ferromagnetic nanowires. It is confirmed that the Kittel equation with simple ellipsoid model with demagnetizing factor well describe the resonance frequency due to magnetic noise of the single domain. Besides, we find that there is a distinguishable additional resonance frequency, when a magnetic domain wall exists. It is verified that the additional resonance frequency is originated from the magnetic domain wall, and it is lower than one of the single domain. It implies that the spins inside the domain wall have a different effective field.
A large amount of papers about the cubic-to-tetragonal phase transition the ferroelectric domain structures of the BaTiO3 were already reported but there exist still some needs to observe the domain behaviors directly. In this study the domain structures of the tinned plates prepared from ta single crystal grown by the TSSG technique were observed using a polarizing microscope TE and X-ray topography. The spatial relation be-tween the orientation states of domains was investigated and the effects of external stresses and electric fields on the behaviors of ferroelectric and ferroelastic domains were studied. All the 90$^{\circ}$walls cut off in the crystal are the wedge shaped lamellar domains and all the straight boundaries in the observed domain patte군 can be interpreted as the head-to-tail 90$^{\circ}$walls. The irregular overlapped boundaries commonly observed by using a polarizing microscope and X-ray topography are complex combinations of well-known 90$^{\circ}$walls and are domain walls were predominant and were stabilized after surface polishing. In the paraelectric phase region the domain walls vanished but the residual surface strain patterns could be seen at the same positions of the stabilized 90$^{\circ}$a-a walls in the tetragonal phase region, These stabilized walls resulted from the surface strain had a memory effect in domain formation during the repeated phase transitions and could notr be affected by an external electtric field.
