  • The spray characteristics of the high speed rotating fuel injection system were studied. The five variants of rotating fuel nozzle were used by spray test. The diameter of single column injection orifices are varied from 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm. We constructed high speed rotating test rig and measured droplet size by PDPA (Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system. Also spray was visualized by using high speed camera. In the test results, we could understand that length of liquid column from the injection orifice is mainly controlled by the rotational speeds. SMD is decreased with increasing injection orifice diameter and rotational speeds. Furthermore, from the comparison to the theoritical calculation, we confirmed that SMD is influenced by the liquid film thickness which is formed inner surface of injection orifice.

  • Response of reinforced concrete (RC) column-bent piers subjected to bidirectional seismic loadings was experimentally investigated. RC column-bent piers represent one of the most popular shapes of piers used in Korea highway bridges. Four column-bent piers were constructed in 400 mm diameter and 2,000 mm height. Each pier has two circular supporting columns. These piers were tested under bidirectional lateral load reversals with an axial load of $0.1f_{ck}A_g$. The test parameters included : different transverse reinforcement contents and lap-spliced longitudinal reinforcing steels. Test results indicate that the lap splice of longitudinal reinforcing steels have significantly influenced on hysteretic response of column-bent piers similar to previous test results for single columns with corresponding test parameters. Column capacity was changed with the level of transverse confinement. From the comparison of test result for single column under unidirectional loading, the damage of single column was concentrated on lower plastic hinge region but the damage of column-bent piers was scattered to upper and lower plastic hinge region.

  • This paper presents a high performance 32-bit single core AES architecture. The proposed architecture employs a 5-stage pipeline: four stages in the ShiftRows/InvShiftRows module, and one stage in the MixColumn/InvMixColumn module. Circuit size reduction has been achieved through merging of the shift rows and inverse shift rows. The mix column and inverse mix column share the same resources. Three 32-bit registers replace the conventional ten 32-bit registers in the RCON architecture. The proposed architecture has been implemented in Verilog HDL, and yields 415 Mbits/s throughput with the circuit size of 13764 gate equivalents on the 0.18um CMOS process technology. This high performance architecture is suitable for wireless network router applications.

  • This paper proposes a realistic approach to pushover analyses of reinforced concrete (RC) structures with single column type and frame type. The characteristic of plastic hinge of a single RC column subjected to fixed axial load was determined first according to column's three distinct failure modes which were often observed in the experiments or earthquakes. By using the determined characteristic of plastic hinge, the pushover analyses of single RC columns were performed and the analytical results were investigated to be significantly consistent with those of cyclic loading tests. Furthermore, a simplified methodology considering the effect of the variation of axial force for each RC column of the frame structure during pushover process is proposed for the first time. It would be helpful in performing pushover analysis for the structures examined in this study with efficiency as well as accuracy.

  • It would be much effective that single column type pier is used in concrete slab bridges rather than ${\Pi}$ or gravity type pire is used. To determine the longitudinal benging moment in concrete slab bridges supported by single column type piers, the concept of effective width is applied. By elastic plate theory cooperated with finite element method, the distribution of the longitudinal moment of the slab supported by single column type piers is studied. The main variables are span, width. thickness of the slab, and column section size. The analytical results obtained are summarized and analysed to evaluate the maximum longitudinal negative moment, then a simplified method for calculating the longitudinal moment is proposed.

  • To elucidate the differences in the collapse behavior between a single-story beam-column assembly and multi-story frame, two 1/3-scale two-bay composite frames, including a single-story composite beam-column assembly and a three-story composite sub-frame, were designed and quasi-statically tested. The load-displacement responses, failure modes, and internal force development of the two frames were analyzed and compared in detail. Furthermore, the resistance mechanisms of the two specimens were explored, and the respective contributions of different load-resisting mechanisms to the total resistances were quantitatively separated to gain deeper insights. The experimental tests indicated that Vierendeel action was present in the two-dimensional multi-story frames, which led to an uneven internal force distribution among the three stories. The collapse resistance of TSDWA-3S in the flexural stage was not significantly increased by the structural redundancy provided by the additional story, as compared to that of TSDWA-1S. Although the development of the load response was similar in the two specimens at flexural stage, the collapse mechanisms of the multi-story composite frame were much more complicated than those of the single-story beam-column assembly, and the combined action between stories was critical in determining the internal force redistribution and rebalancing of the remaining structure.

  • Granular columns have recently found widespread use in underground construction. The behaviour of granular columns under vertical loads has been extensively studied, specifically in relation to vertical load capacity obtained by bulging of the column body, including the behaviour after encasement of material. Determining the shear strength of loose soils reinforced with granular columns has received less attention. After the observations of lateral deformation near the toe of the embankment, attempts have been made to strengthen the lateral strength of granular columns. The purpose of this research is to look into the effects of different encasement conditions on the lateral load capacity of granular columns. This was accomplished by three-dimensional finite element analysis with FEM software. Various normal pressures and two different encasement configurations, namely single layer encasement and double layer encasement, with differing tensile strengths, were used in this study to determine their effect on lateral resistance. The failure envelope for a single column planted in loose sand was used to analyse the findings for three different granular column diameters, as well as the impact of different encasement conditions. According to the findings, the inclusion of a Granular Column enhanced the shear strength and overall stiffness of the loose sand bed, and the encasement of the Granular Column helped in deriving higher lateral resistance.

The antibody had a high specificity against the cellobiohydroase evidienced by absence of immunological reaction to other isozymes from Trichoderma viride. Assay limit of cellobiohydrolase was 1-10 $\mu\textrm{g}$ by column single immunodiffusion and by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, it was 10-140 ng and 100-1200 pg when the dilution of antibody was 10$^{-6}$ and 10$^{-5}$, respectively.

  • Nonlinear feedback control scheme for reactive distillation column has been proposed. The proposed control scheme is derived in the framework of Nonlinear Internal Model Control. The product compositions and liquid and vapor flow rates in sections of the reactive distillation column are estimated from selected tray temperature measurements by an observer. The control scheme is applied to example reactive distillation column in which two products are produced in a single column and the reversible reaction A + B = C + D occurs. The relative volatilities are favorable for reactive distillation so that the reactants are intermediated boilers between the light product C and the heavy product D. • This paper presents a practical method to evaluate the effective length factors for columns in multi-storey unbraced frames based on the concept of storey-based elastic buckling by means of decomposing a multi-storey frame into a series of single-storey partially-restrained (PR) frames. The lateral stiffness of the multi-storey unbraced frame is derived and expressed as the product of the lateral stiffness of each storey. Thus, the stability analysis for the multi-storey frame is conducted by investigating the lateral stability of each individual storey, which is facilitated through decomposing the multi-storey frame into a series of single-storey PR frames and applying the storey-based stability analysis proposed by the authors (Xu and Liu 2002) for each single-storey PR frame. Prior to introducing decomposition approaches, the end rotational stiffness of an axially load column is derived and rotational stiffness interaction between the upper and lower columns is investigated. Three decomposition approaches, characterized by means of distributing beam-to-column rotational-restraining stiffness between the upper and lower columns, are proposed. The procedure of calculating storey-based column effective length factors is presented. Numerical examples are then given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed procedure.
