  • This paper introduces a multi-cell search method for heterogeneous networks (HetNet), in which user equipments need to search multiple cells in its vicinity simultaneously. Due to the difficulty of acquiring channel informations for multiple cells, a non-coherent approach is preferred. In this paper, a non-coherent single-cell search scheme using a weighted vector is proposed, and the successive interference cancellation based multi-cell search algorithm is devised. In order to improve cell search performance, the weighted vector is designed in a way to exploit the general characteristic of wireless channel. Based on the fact that the performance of the proposed single-cell search scheme deviates slowly from the one using the optimal weighted vector, a universal weighted vector is also proposed, which shows the performance close to the optimal ones for various channel environments and signal-to-noise ratio regimes. Simulation results confirm that the proposed multi-cell search algorithm is capable of identifying cells more accurately with the help of the proposed single-cell search scheme, and can detect the remaining cells more effectively by removing the signals of the identified cells from the received signal.

  • Since the first report on long-term durable perovskite solar cell in 2012, a surge of interest in perovskite solar cell has been received due to its superb photovoltaic performance exceeding 20%. $MAPbI_3$ ($MA=CH_3NH_3$) perovskite film is able to be prepared simply by solution processesof either sequential two-step or single step procedure. Since $MAPbI_3$ shows balanced charge transport property with micrometer scale charge diffusion length, it can be applied to any kind of junction structures. Mostly studied structure is mesoscopic structure employing mesoporous oxide layer in perovskite film. Photovoltaic performance is primarilyin fluenced by the quality of perovskite film but interfaces are equally important. In this mini review, emergence and evolution of perovskite solar cell are described.

  • Flow-field design has much influence over the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) because it affects the pressure magnitude and distribution of the reactant gases. To obtain the pressure magnitude and distribution of reactant gases in five kinds of flow-field designs, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was performed. After the CFD analysis, a single cell test was carried out to obtain the performance values. As expected, the pressure differences due to different flow-field configurations were related to the PEMFC performance because the actual performance results showed the same tendency as the results of the CFD analysis. A large pressure drop resulted in high PEMFC performance. The single serpentine configuration gave the highest performance because of the high pressure difference magnitudes of the inlet/outlet. On the other hand, the parallel flow-field configuration gave the lowest performance because the pressure difference between inlet and outlet was the lowest.

  • The PBS(Partial Buffer Sharing) space priority mechanism is one of priority control methods which may improve the performance of a single server queueing system when mixed traffic with different performance requirements is applied to the system. This paper analyzes the cell loss behavior of PBS assuming loss sensitive traffic and delay sensitive traffic are applied to the system. To derive the successive cell loss probabilities. which are an important performance measure of realtime traffic, we develop a recursive algorithm. Performance results show the successive cell loss probabilities obtained by our method are lager than the probabilities derived from an independent cell loss assumption. These results may indicate the limitation of PBS for realtime traffic and the increase of the admissible load with the criterion of quality of service.

  • Recently, in accordance with the demand for a large capacity of a secondary battery according to an increase in the demand for energy storage devices, a modular series battery configuration is essential. Accordingly, various cell balancing techniques have been proposed to prevent high efficiency and performance degradation of the battery. In this paper, propose a battery voltage balancing topology consisting of a flyback DC/DC converter type of a SIMO (Single-Input-Multiple Output) two-switch configuration for a series battery configuration. The proposed topology shows a structure in which a DC/DC converter connected to each module and a battery cell share one transformer. The topology cell balancing operation is a principle in which the voltage balancing converter of the battery converges to the same value through a transformer that shares a magnetic flux with the cells constituting the module through a single high-frequency transformer. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics analysis of the proposed circuit using PSIM was based and it was verified through experiments on one module.

  • In this paper, several computer simulations are investigated to confirm the DVB-H system performance and to find proper single frequency network cell coverage. From the result, we confirm that 2K mode transmission is more robust to Doppler frequency than 8K mode. The result of this paper can be partially applied to the design the single frequency network.

  • The Ni-Al anodes of the molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) with three different structures were successfully fabricated in order to reduce the thickness of the anode down to 0.3 mm; one was the non-supported anode made by a conventional tape casting method, and others were the supported anodes made by lamination or direct casting on the nickel screen. It was seen from the physical analyses and cell operation that the supported thin anodes made by direct casting showed good mechanical strength and cell performance because of a good contact between the anode materials and the support. The single cell using the above anode showed the cell voltage of 0.858 V at the current density of 150$mA/cm^2$ with the nitrogen cross-over of only 0.6% at the operation time of 1,000 h, which was similar to the performance of the conventional thick (0.7 mm) anode. The ability to utilize a thin configuration of anode should cut down the amount of nickel alloy and consequently reduce its manufacturing cost.

  • In present paper, we used magnesium alloy having a lower density and higher electrical conductivity for bipolar plate to reduce the weight of PEM fuel cell. The silver was coated to prevent corrosion and form passivation film on the metal surface with sputtering. In acid proof evaluation for setting optimal coating conditions, the homogeneity of coating thickness was improved by coating with the thickness of 3 ${\mu}m$ which not indicated any micro cracks and the temperature $180^{\circ}C$. The performance test and evaluation based on the clamping pressure and channel depth to determine the configuration of bipolar plate for assembling single cell was implemented. And then we assembled single cell with this bipolar plate and implemented the performance test to ensure and compare the current-voltage performance followed as several factors such as coating or non-coating, the change of clamping pressure, the change of channel depth, etc. As these results, the maximum power density of single cell with the coated bipolar plate was 192 $mW/cm^2$ and it was confirmed that the power density per unit mass was better than existing metal bipolar plate.
