  • Many studies have examined the reduction of primary noise sources, but quality-related noise, such as BSR, is rarely studied. This study describes the quantitative BSR test method using a multi-axial simulator. The sine sweep test was conducted to detect the system resonance and its relation to BSR noise with high frequency. This method is applied to the seat frame with/without the vibration durability test. The results showed that the $1^{st}$ lateral resonance leads to higher BSR frequency noise. In addition, the reduction of the lateral mode system stiffness after the durability test results in a decrease in the BSR noise in sine sweep test mode.

  • Three ground models are analyzed using a 1g shaking table and laminar shear box (LSB) to investigate the impact of the ground structure on seismic wave amplification during earthquakes. Multi-layer horizontal, embankment, and basin ground models are selected for this investigation, with each model being divided into dense and loose ground layers, Accelerometers are installed during the construction of each ground model to capture any seismic wave amplification owing th the propagation of an artificial seismic wave, sine wave sweep, and 10-Hz sine wave through a given ground model. The amplification of the tested seismic waves is analyzed using the observed peak ground acceleration and spectrum acceleration. The observed acceleration amplification in the multi-layer horizontal ground model is significantly higher the seismic waves that propagated across the dense ground-loose ground boundary compared with those that only propagated through the dense ground. Furthermore, the observed acceleration amplification gradually increases in the central part of the multi-layer embankment and basin models for the seismic waves that propagated across the dense ground-loose ground boundary.

  • The ionic-polymer-metal-composite actuators have the best merit for bio-mimetic locomotion because of their large bending performance. Especially, they have the advantage for mimicking a fish-like motion because IPMCs are useful to be actuated in water. So we have developed IPMC actuators with multiple electrodes for realization of biomimetic motion. This actuator is fabricated by combining electroless plating and electroplating techniques capable of patterning precisely and controlling a thickness of Pt electrode layer. The FRF analysis was conducted by a mechanical shaker and direct electrical excitation which is based on sweep sine wave function. From this result, the proper young‘s modulus of Platinum was investigated and applied on expecting the vibration characteristics of patterned IPMC actuator. The calculated maximum displacement of the patterned IPMC was 2.32mm under an applied 4mN/mm. The natural frequency was increased however displacement was decreased in according to increase a thickness of Pt.

  • This paper presents the results of structural identification of a safety-related valve for nuclear power plant by impact hammer test as well as shaking table tests by using broadband random wave and sine sweep excitation. The test specimen is a Y-type motor operated globe valve. The test was performed as a "support test" to validate the analytically obtained modal parameters of the valve during its seismic qualification process by analytical method. From the study results it has been found that the shaking table test generally yields higher natural frequencies and lower damping values compared with those of impact hammer test. And it has been recognized that impact hammer test for modal identification of complex structures should be applied very carefully to get reasonable results.e results.

  • The acoustical scattering characteristics of a target are influenced by the material properties and structural characteristics of the target, which are critical information for acoustic detection and identification of underwater target. In particular, for thin elastic target, unique scattered signals are generated around the target by the Lamb wave. In this paper, the results of scattered signal measurement of aluminum spherical shell in the water tank using the stepped frequency sweep sine signal are presented. In particular, the scattering of the water-filled aluminum spherical shell is compared with that of the air-filled one both theoretically and experimentally. The difference of the scattered signals are analyzed using the pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution in terms of average frequency, frequency distribution, and energy of the scattered signal. The result shows that all observed parameters increased when the aluminum sphere was water-filled, and it is well matched to the theoretical expectation.
