The simultaneous measurement for thermal properties of liquids using transient probe method (과도탐침법을 이용한 액체의 열물성 동시측정)

  • The theoretical model for the transient probe method is the modified Jaeger model which is used perfect line source theory. The transient probe technique has been developed for the simultaneous determination of thermal conductivity, diffusivity and volumetric heat capacity of liquids. The Levenberg-Marquardt iteration method is adapted to obtain thermal property within nonlinear range. Experimental results of liquids were found to agree well with recommended thermal property data.

  • In this study, the quantification of soot particles in laminar diffusion flame with LII/LIS methods was performed. In these quantification, soot diameter, number density and volume fraction are included. For the quatification of soot particles, calibration tests are needed and the development of algorithm has to be performed. So, in this study, extinction and scattering test at co-flow burner were performed to acquire calibration data. And algorithm for LII/LIS simultaneous measurement for the quantification of soot were developed. The algorithm, which was the quantification of simultaneous photographing using one ICCD camera, to measure LII/LIS signal simultaneously, the best fitted light intensity and acquisition time was needed.

  • To establish the sea surface temperature estimation scheme for the upcoming advanced remote sensor, the quasi-analytical solution of the approximated radiative transfer equation which express the radiative transfer process of the radiant energy radiated from the sea surface to the satellite is approximated into the non-linear equation. To solve the simultaneous approximated radiative transfer equation which express the radiative transfer process of the radiant energy radiated from the sea surface to the satellite is approximated into the nonlinear equation. To solve the simultaneous approximated radiative transfer equation at each channel, the constrained non-linear optimization technique is adopted. To define the coefficients of the approximated radiative transfer equation and the constraints, the satellite detected radiance and the total transmittance are computed from the 1350 kinds of simulated atmosphere / surface models via radiative transfer code. The verification from the simulated data show the sufficient result.

  • In order to provide basis for an accurate concentration determination of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in air, four different institutions participated in simultaneous measurements of several VOC species under the experimental scheme of the Measurement and Analysis Division(MAD) of the Korea Society for Atmospheric Environment(KOSAE). Two types of experiments were undertaken by collecting and analyzing ambient air samples from the 7th floor of Natural Science Building, Han Tang University during two day periods of the late May 1998. The first typer of experiment was conducted as five consecutive experiments at 2-hour intervals by two institutions. On the other hand. the second type of experiment was performed as two -10hr sampling by three different institutions. The data obtained from different type of experiments were examined using various statistical approaches. In general, the results of these experiments indicated that the VOC data produced by a number of Korean institutions be fairly agreeable.

  • An analytical method for the simultaneous measurement of trace Cu, Sn, and Bi in sea water has been investigated by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry. Amberlite IRC-718 resin was used as a solid phase in solid-liquid extraction technique for the removal of matrix interferences such as Na, S, P, and other polyatomic ion species. Recoveries of 99.8% for Cu, 99.6% for Sn, and 97.9% for Bi were obtained for the standard spiked sample. The developed method was applied to analysis of trace metals in sea water.

  • This study was conducted to clarify the heat load characteristics and heat and moisture behavior of underground structures. The authors achieved this by carrying out a numerical analysis using simple heat diffusion and simultaneous heat and moisture transfer equations based on measurement data. This paper presents the results of a numerical analysis on the heat load characteristics and heat and moisture behavior of an underground basement and its surrounding ground under a condition of internal heat generation. The authors found it difficult to predict the heat behavior and heat load of the underground basement by simple heat diffusion alone. Accurate prediction of the thermal environment and heat load requires careful consideration of the influences of moisture and precipitation

  • In this paper, we propose an extended Kalman filter(EKF)-based simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) method using laser corner pattern matching for mobile robots. SLAM is one of the most important problems of mobile robot. However, existing method has the disadvantage of increasing the computation time, depending on the number of landmarks. To improve computation time, we produce the corner pattern using classified and detected corner points. After producing the corner patterns, it is estimated that mobile robot's global position by matching them. The estimated position is used as measurement model in the EKF. To evaluated proposed method, we preformed the experiments in the indoor environments. Experimental results of proposed method are shown to maintain an accuracy and decrease the computation time.

An Evaluation of Liquid Chromatography/Mass Specrometry with Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionizarion for the Rapid and Simultaneous Measurement of Carbamate Pesticides and Organophosphorus Pesticides

  • Liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry with an atmospheric pressure chemical ionization interface (LC/APCI/MS) is evaluated for the simultaneous determination of carbamate pesticides and organophosphorus pesticides in a single chromatographic analysis. APCI mass spectra of those compounds were obtrained to study their ionization characteristics. APCI provided abundant ions such as protonated molecules and characteristic fragment ions for carbamate pesticides and organophosphorus pesticides. To evaluate the feasibility of the LC/APCI/MS for a routine quantitative analysis, the linearity and repeatability of LC/APCI/MS were examined by measuring standard solution mixtures of five carbamate pesticides and four organophosphorus pesticides over the range of 1 to 100 ㎍/mL. Teh peak areas in chromatograms of characteristic ions for those compounds showed less than 3% of variation from run to run. The standard calibration curves for the nine pesticides show good linearity in the concentration range. The detection limits of the LC/APCI/MS system for those compounds range from 0.006 to 0.2 ng.

Thermal Strain and Temperature Measurements of Structures by Using Fiber-Optic Sensors (광섬유 센서를 이용한 구조물의 열변형 및 온도 측정)

  • Two types of fiber-optic sensors, EFPI(extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer) and FBG(fiber Bragg grating), have been investigated for measurement of thermal strain and temperature. The EFPI sensor is only for measurement of thermal strain and the FBG sensor is for simultaneous measurement of thermal strain and temperature. FBG temperature sensor was developed to measure strain-independent temperature. This sensor configuration consists of a single-fiber Bragg grating and capillary tube which makes it isolated from external strain. This sensor can then be used to compensate for the temperature cross sensitivity of a FBG strain sensor. These sensors are demonstrated by embedding them into a graphite/epoxy composite plate and by attaching them on aluminum rod and unsymmetric graphitelepoxy composite plate. All the tests were conducted in a thermal chamber with the temperature range $20-100^{\circ}C$. Results of strain measurements by fiber-optic sensors are compared with that from conventional resistive foil gauge attached on the surface.

  • The present experimental study is focused on the application of multi-point simultaneous measurement by PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) to guide vane region within diffuser pump. Various different kinds of rotational velocity were selected as experimental condition. Optimized cross correlation Identification to obtain velocity vectors is implemented with direct calculation of correlation coefficients. Fine optical setup concerned with PIV performance is arranged for the accurate PIV measurement of high-speed complex flow. Variable flow pattern are represented quantitatively at the stator region.
