  • In this study, we compared the VacCAD and VacSim(Multi), commercial vacuum simulators, to verify the advantages of VacCAD's efficiency. It was emphasized on immediacy and simplicity of simulation modelling, and characteristics of the pump combinations, pumping down curves, and vacuum materials. First, usability of simulation mechanism was estimated through the modeling schematics and obtained simulation results of each employed simulator were compared to evaluate the applicability in practice. Simulation reliability of each simulator was also probed by comparing the pumping characteristics of commercially available high vacuum systems. In addition, the degree of tolerances on VacCAD was also investigated through pumping down analysis considering outgassing effect due to chamber material variations. The higher effectiveness and expediency of VacCAD than VacSim(Multi) has been presented, and it was expected that the utilization of VacCAD in vacuum applications to be increased.

  • By using modeling and simulation. today's design engineers are simultaneously reducing time to market and decreasing the cost of development, while increasing the quality and reliability of their products. A driving simulator is the best example of this method and allows virtual designs of control systems, electronic systems, mechanical systems and hydraulic system of a vehicle to be evaluated before costly prototyping. The objective of this Paper is to develop the virtual Proving: ground using a driving simulator and to show its capabilities of an automotive system development tool. For this purpose, including a real-time vehicle dynamics analysis system, the PC-based driving simulator and the virtual proving ground are developed by using VR(Virtual Reality) techniques. Also ABS HIL(Hardware-In-the-Loop ) simulation is performed successfully.

  • This paper presents a development of the control and the virtual reality visual system for a tilting train simulator. The user of the tilting train simulator is able to set up the environmental and operating conditions through the user interface provided by the control system. In the control system, an arbitrary track which has user-defined curve radius, length and direction can be generated. The virtual reality visual system provides an artificial environment that is composed of several facilities such as station, platform, track, bridge, tunnel and signaling system. In order to maximize the reality, all of the 3D modeling were based on the real photographs taken in the Jungang line. A dome screen with 1600mm diameter was used to maximize the view angle. The hemispherical screen can ensure the view angle of the 170 degrees of vertical direction and 135 degrees of lateral direction.

  • This paper describes the development of a pc-based machinery space simulator for training and research, relevant to STCW-95. The detailed mathematical modelling process for the actual machinery is discussed and a method to perform effective education and training for the simulator is suggested. The method includes scenario, procedure, exercise and evaluation. The procedure guides the trainee through a sequence of steps designed to meet a specific goal, showing the trainee what must be done and explaining why The exercise enhances understanding for efficient engine management and enable user to perform research for the machinery. The evaluation shows exercise results and feeds back to instructor how to guide the under-performed trainee.

  • The tactical data-link is useful to exchanging automatic information and controling command in combat environment. This is a essential factor of interoperability in the future combat situation of network centric warfare. In a aspect of a weapon system development, Modeling & Simulation can save expense. HLA RTI is a standard communication protocol in M&S. So, we suggest that Link Simulator connect tactical data-link through RTI. This simulator has the interoperability between M&S and tactical data-link, the reusability through adabing M&S framework, and the wide usability by automatic engagement function.

  • This paper describes prototype Virtual Reality Ship Simulator (VRSS) that we have recently developed next-generation training equipment based on the virtual reality (VR) technology. The inherent defects of conventional ship simulators are enormous costs and difficult system upgrade due to the system construction, such as large mock-up bridge system, wide visual presentations, In this paper, to cope with those problems, we explored VR technology that can give realistic environments in a virtual world. Then we constructed prototype VRSS system, which is, consists of PC-based human sensors, and Databases set having 3D object models and coefficients of Head Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs). 3D-WEBMASTER authoring tool was used as Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML). Using the VRSS system, we constructed Port an Passage Simulator for the harbor of INCHON in Korea, and Ship and Sea State Simulator for an arbitrary given sea environmental states by user. Through many simulation tests, we testified the efficiency of developed prototype VRSS by subject assessment with five participants. Then, we present results on the simulation experiments and conclude with discussion of evaluation results.

  • The automated chemical analysis shop floor are developed for the environmental pollution problems in our chemical analysis center. This shop floor have the several equipments include weight, pour, dry, heater, boiler, mixture, spectroscopy etc. And the material handling components are made up by the stored stack, conveyore, turntables, robot etc. Computer simulation has been an important tool for these complete design problem. We have designed the arangement of chemical equipments and material flow systems by using the simulator "AutoModII". "AutoMoII" is one of the advanced simulator, CAD-like drawing tools with a powerful, engineering oriented language to model control logic and material flow. The result is the modeling of the chemical analysis system in accurate, three dimensional detail. We could designed the set able layout and scheduling system by using the AutoMoII simulator. • The spacecraft simulator is used for command validation, operational check of the Satellite Operation Subsystem (SOS), spacecraft anomaly analysis support, satellite operator training etc. In this paper, S/W design features and modeling characteristics of the KOMPSAT Spacecraft Simulator Subsystem (SIM) are described. Validation procedures and simulation results are also provided. The SIM provides extensive simulation capabilities by including models for most of the spacecraft subsystems. The software structure of the SIM was designed and implemented so as to support operations not only in real-time but also in non real-time by utilizing the Hewlett Packard (HP) UNIX functions. The SIM incorporates as many user-friendly Man Machine Interface (MMI) windows as possible so that all the SIM normal operations can be executed through the MMI windows.
