Demand of good seakeeping perfomace is increasing for sea going vessels such as cruisers, naval ships and container ships. Especillay roll motion is one of major concerns in evaluation of seakeeping performance due to its large resonace motion. Since large roll resonance motion is mainly arised from inherent small damping. use of additional mechnism to provide roll damping can significantly reduce roll motion. In this paper, a reliable performace evaluation method of fin stabilizer, which is very useful for stabilizing roll motion of mid and high speed vessls, is described. Model test and time domain simulation methods are adopted for performance evaluation in which real operating situation of fin stabilizer can be exactly modelled. Model test and simulation results show good correlations between model test and simulation results.
Purpose: This study was conducted to compare the effects of simulation-based training on knowledge, self-efficacy and clinical performance, underwent before or after the clinical practice for the nursing students. Method: A comparison group design was established with pre-clinical practice group (n=34) and post-clinical practice group (n=34). Both groups participated in simulation-based training before or after the clinical practice at the recovery room. Chi-square test, t-test and paired t-test were performed to analyze the data. Results: Both groups showed significantly higher post-test scores in knowledge and self-efficacy than pre-test scores (p<.001). The group with simulation training performed before their clinical practice (pre-clinical practice group) showed significantly higher self-efficacy (p=.044) than the group with simulation training done after their clinical practice (post-clinical practice group). However, there was no significant difference in the knowledge (p=.922) and clinical performance (p=.887). Conclusion: These findings of the study suggest that simulation based training in pre-clinical practice is effective to enhance the self-efficacy and to improve knowledge and clinical performance of the nursing students.
Purpose: This research is to understand the effects of senior simulation on employees of elderly care facilities and utilize it in their job training. Methods: This research is a nonequivalence control group pre-to-post quasiexperiment research. 18 employees who have experienced senior simulation are set as test group and 18 other employees who have not experienced senior simulation are set as control group. Results: The hypothesis that 'the test group which has experienced senior simulation will show a positive change in their attitude on elderly care, compared to the control group' and 'the test group which has experienced senior simulation will show a positive change in understanding of elders, compared to the control group' was supported. The hypothesis that 'the test group which has experienced senior simulation will show a positive change in job satisfaction and performance of duties, compared to the control group' was dismissed. Conclusion: The senior simulation seems to contribute to elderly care facilities employees' change in their viewpoints of elders and broaden their understanding of them. The senior simulation was meaningful to provide basic help with implementing job training programs.
Weapon systems composed of several subsystems execute various engagement missions in distributed combat environments in cooperation with a large number of subordinate/adjacent weapon systems as well as higher echelons through tactical data links. Such distributed weapon systems require distributed real-time simulation test beds to integrate and test their operational software, analyze their performance and effects of cooperated engagement, and validate their requirement specifications. These demands present significant challenges in terms of real-time constraints, time synchronization, complexity and development cost of an engagement simulation test bed, thus necessitate the use of high-performance distributed real-time simulation architectures, and modeling and simulation techniques. In this paper, in order to meet these demands, we presented a distributed real-time simulation system based on High Level Architecture(HLA) and Discrete Event System Specification(DEVS). We validated its performance by using it as a test bed for developing the Engagement Control System(ECS) of a surface-to-air missile system. The proposed technique can be employed to design a prototype or model of engagement-level distributed real-time simulation systems.

This paper presents a distribution simulation model for dual purpose improved conventional munitions based on flight test data. A systematic procedure for designing a dispersion simulation model is proposed. A new accumulated broken line graph was suggested for designing the distribution shape. In the process of verification and simulation for the distribution simulation model, verification was performed by first comparing data with firing test results, and an application simulation was then conducted. The Monte Carlo method was used in the simulations, which reflected the relationship between ejection conditions and real distribution data. Before establishing the simulation algorithm, the dominant ejection parameter of the submunitions was examined. The relationships between ejection conditions and distribution results were investigated. Five key distribution parameters were analyzed with respect to the ejection conditions. They reflect the characteristics of clustered particle dynamics and aerodynamics.
This paper described the verification of modeling technique of underground distribution from comparison between field test and simulation. It needs more exact transient phenomenon analysis model to establish lightning protection of underground distribution line. Although, there were a lot of transient phenomenon researches, nobody could has verified the confidence of modeling from field tests in interior until now. So, simulation model verified field test is needed to analyse transient phenomenon of underground distribution system. The examination must be accomplished in many different condition before suggesting these verified analysis model. In this paper, the conditions were examined and the various data results on the different line composition was compared with the EMTP simulation, when the lightning impulse test was accomplished at underground distribution line. Also the value between field test and simulation was very closed and the method of modeling has demonstrated confidence, when the method is used to analyse domestic transient phenomenon of underground distribution.
Recently, the virtual test techniques using computer simulation play an important part in the vehicle development procedures in order to reduce the development time and cost by replacing the physical prototypes of the vehicle components or systems with the virtual prototypes. In this paper, virtual durability test procedures for the vehicle suspension module have been developed. Virtual durability test consists of dynamic simulation computing load history of suspension components, fatigue analysis computing the life of components. A vehicle suspension module for dynamic simulation are developed and validated by comparison with the measured data obtained from the field vehicle test. And on the basis of the validated vehicle suspension model, fatigue analysis has been performed for the virtual durability design of the suspension components.
Purpose: This study aimed to develop a nursing simulation learning module for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient-care and examine its effects on clinical reasoning competence, clinical competence, performance confidence, and anxiety in COVID-19 patient care for nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent control group pre- and post-test design was employed. The study participants included 47 nursing students (23 in the experimental group and 24 in the control group) from G City. A simulation learning module for COVID-19 patient-care was developed based on the Jeffries simulation model. The module consisted of a briefing, simulation practice, and debriefing. The effects of the simulation module were measured using clinical reasoning competence, clinical competence, performance confidence, and anxiety in COVID-19 patient-care. Data were analyzed using χ2-test, Fisher's exact test, t-test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The levels of clinical reasoning competence, clinical competence, and performance confidence of the experimental group were significantly higher than that of the control group, and the level of anxiety was significantly low after simulation learning. Conclusion: The nursing simulation learning module for COVID-19 patient-care is more effective than the traditional method in terms of improving students' clinical reasoning competence, clinical competence, and performance confidence, and reducing their anxiety. The module is expected to be useful for educational and clinical environments as an effective teaching and learning strategy to empower nursing competency and contribute to nursing education and clinical changes.
Actual fire test under a laboratory and fire simulation by using computer are considered into main methodology in order to estimate and predict fire size of railway train. Even if practical fire size could be obtained from the full-model railway car test such as a large scale cone-calorimeter test, it is not always possible and realistic due to that expensive cost and attendant dangers could in no way be negligible. In this point of view, fire simulation analysis method based on the computational fluid dynamics could be proposed as an alternative and it seems to be also efficient and reasonable. However, simulation results have to be verified and validated in accordance with the proper procedure including comparing analysis with the actual fire test. In this paper, fire load and growth aspect was investigated through the room corner test (ISO 9705) for the mock-up model of the actual railway car. Then, it was compared with the output data derived from the simulation by using Pyrolysis Model of the FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator, by NIST) for the exact same domain and condition corresponding with pre-performed room-corner test. This preliminary verified and validated fire modeling method could enhance the reliability of output data derived from the fire simulation under the similar domain and condition.
