A Study on Validity of Applying Simplify modeling Method for Heating/Cooling Load Calculation (냉난방부하 계산의 단순화 모델링 기법 적용 타당성 검토에 관한 연구)

  • As the time goes by, the energy use in buildings are increasing threateningly. So, it is important to have an accurate energy load calculation for buildings. The accurate energy simulation program carries numerous input data. So, our purpose of this study is to verify the application of simplify modeling method which eliminates coordinates of building components instead of using full coordinates by using DOE2. After comparing original modeling method with simplify modeling method, we applied PAF for daylighting control in the building to verify the application of daylighting control in simplify modeling method. The results shows that there are little difference between original modeling and simplify modeling. Also it showed that application of daylighting control has little difference between original modeling so it is feasible to adapt simplify modeling. These results reveals that the application of simplify modeling is possible to predict energy load and use of the building.

Decomposition-Based Simplification of Machined Part in Solid Model (볼륨분해를 이용한 절삭가공부품 솔리드 모델의 단순화)

  • As 3D solid modeling has been widely used in designing products, solid models of the products are directly used in various applications such as engineering analysis and process planing. However, the fully-detailed solid models may not be necessary in some application. For example, it is often more efficient to use simplified model of part of engineering analysis. Generation of mesh for the complex original model requires a quite amount of time, and the consequence of finite element analysis may not be desirable due to small and detailed geometry in the model. In this paper, a method to simplify solid models of machined part is presented. This method decomposes the delta volume of machined part, and uses the decomposed volumes to simplify the solid model. Since this method directly recognizes the features to be removed from the final model, it is independent of not only design features of specific CAD system, but also designer's design practice of design sequences.

  • Korean Peninsula located between Japan and China where earthquakes frequently occur, have little geophysical observation despite its tectonic importance. This study suggests the inland conductive structures inferred from GDS data measured in Korean Peninsula and try to interpret induction arrows quantitatively with the aid of 2- and 3-D geomagnetic induction modeling. Ogcheon Belt (OCB) and Imjin River Belt (IRB) are regarded as main conductive structures in Korea Peninsula, the induction arrows for the period of 60 minutes show very weak anomaly due to sea effect, which is supported by the results of 3-modeling also. However, for the period of 10 minutes, induction arrows at YIN and ICHN show anomalous patterns considered as the effect of IRB in spite of sea effect.   • We propose 'the haptic primitive' for haptic rendering without the need to solve complicated parametric equations. To develop 'the haptic primitive', we adopted "the God-Object Method" as a haptic rendering algorithm and applied 'Constructive Solid Geometry' to manage haptic objects. Besides being used in the 'ghost library' of $PHANToMTM^{TM}$ our method can be used as a basic component for developing tools and libraries that aim to simplify haptic modeling. It can also be applied to tactile display modules and temporal display modules. Ultimately it can be developed into a one-stop haptic modeling tool that enables the user to more conveniently create a tangible CAD systems or a tangible e-ommerce system.

Dynamic Modeling of a Railway Vehicle under Braking (제동시의 철도차량을 위한 동적모델)

  • This paper describes the dynamic modeling of a railway vehicle when it is under braking force. It is important for the enhancement of braking performance to establish a proper dynamic model of a railway vehicle because the braking performance is affected by some dynamic forces generated by a railway vehicle when it undergoes braking. In this paper, a dynamic model for one vehicle is suggested to compute the dynamic behavior of a railway vehicle in the HILS(Hardware In-the-loop Simulation) system for the railway vehicle braking devices. To simplify the dynamic model, friction between a wheel and a rail is assumed that there exist only the static and the dynamic friction forces. Static friction coefficient is also assumed to be a function of the running speed. Some simulations are carried out with various braking forces, and the braking characteristics according to the change of the braking force are discussed. This study can provide some fundamental results to construct the HILS system for braking devices of a railway vehicle.

  • Analysis of a framed structure for vertical vibration requires a lot of computational efforts because large number of degrees of freedom are generally involved in the dynamic responses. This paper presents an efficient modeling technique for vertical vibration utilizing substructuring technique and super elements. To simplify the modeling procedure each floor in a structure is modeled as a substructure. Only the vertical translational degrees of freedom are selected as master degrees of freedom in the inside of each substructure. At the substructure-column interface, horizontal and rotational degrees of freedom are also included considering the compatibility condition of slabs and columns. For further simplification, the repeated parts in a substructure are modeled as super elements, which reduces computation time required for the construction of system matrices in a substructure. Finally, the Guyan reduction technique is applied to enhance the efficiency of dynamic analysis. In numerical examples, the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method are demonstrated by comparing the response time histories and the analysis time.

  • When modeling a sensor system mathematically, we assume that the sensor noise is Gaussian and white to simplify the model. If this assumption fails, the performance of the sensor model-based controller or estimator degrades due to incorrect modeling. In practice, non-Gaussian or non-white noise sources often arise in many digital sensor systems. Additionally, the noise parameters of the sensor model are not known in advance without additional noise statistical information. Moreover, disturbances or high nonlinearities often cause unknown sensor modeling errors. To estimate the uncertain noise and model parameters of a sensor system, this paper proposes an iterative batch calibration method using data-driven machine learning. Our simulation results validate the calibration performance of the proposed approach.

  • This paper Presents two distribution-feeder models to simplify complicated distribution system calculations. These equivalent models are developed to simulate the total series voltage drop at the end of the given feeder and the total line loss of the given feeder accurately. In addition, the proposed models are bidirectional. This means that power infeed can be at either end and the model is accurate. Also, it is shown that the proposed models are suitable for network reconfiguration.
