BCI 기반 로봇 손 제어를 위한 악력 변화에 따른 EEG 분석 (EEG Analysis Following Change in Hand Grip Force Level for BCI Based Robot Arm Force Control)

  • BCI (Brain Computer Interface)는 인간의 뇌에서 측정된 EEG (Electroencephalogram)를 활용하여 의수와 같은 기기를 조종할 수 있는 좋은 방법 중 하나이다. 본 논문에서는 EEG와 힘과의 관계를 알아보고자 최대수축악력 (MVC)의 25%, 50%, 75%로 3개의 등급으로 나누어 EEG 변화를 측정하였다. 얻어진 EEG data를 FFT와 power spectrum analysis로 ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\gamma}$파로 나누어 각 파형의 파워 값을 구한 뒤, 구해진 EEG 파워 값을 PCA와 LDA를 사용하여 특징 추출 및 분류를 하였다. 실험 결과 25%의 악력을 가할 때 보다 75%의 악력 때 더 높은 EEG 파워의 증가를 확인하였고, 왼손과 오른손은 각각 52.03%와 77.7%의 분류율을 나타내었다.

  • In this study, we find features of 3 emotions (Happiness, Angry, Surprise) as the fundamental research of emotion recognition. Speech signal with emotion has several elements. That is, voice quality, pitch, formant, speech speed, etc. Until now, most researchers have used the change of pitch or Short-time average power envelope or Mel based speech power coefficients. Of course, pitch is very efficient and informative feature. Thus we used it in this study. As pitch is very sensitive to a delicate emotion, it changes easily whenever a man is at different emotional state. Therefore, we can find the pitch is changed steeply or changed with gentle slope or not changed. And, this paper extracts formant features from speech signal with emotion. Each vowels show that each formant has similar position without big difference. Based on this fact, in the pleasure case, we extract features of laughter. And, with that, we separate laughing for easy work. Also, we find those far the angry and surprise.

멀티코어시스템에서의 예측 기반 동적 온도 관리 기법 (A Prediction-Based Dynamic Thermal Management Technique for Multi-Core Systems)

  • The power consumption of a high-end microprocessor increases very rapidly. High power consumption will lead to a rapid increase in the chip temperature as well. If the temperature reaches beyond a certain level, chip operation becomes either slow or unreliable. Therefore various approaches for Dynamic Thermal Management (DTM) have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a learning based temperature prediction scheme for a multi-core system. In this approach, from repeatedly executing an application, we learn the thermal patterns of the chip, and we control the temperature in advance through DTM. When the predicted temperature may go beyond a threshold value, we reduce the temperature by decreasing the operation frequencies of the corresponding core. We implement our temperature prediction on an Intel's Quad-Core system which has integrated digital thermal sensors. A Dynamic Frequency System (DFS) technique is implemented to have four frequency steps on a Linux kernel. We carried out experiments using Phoronix Test Suite benchmarks for Linux. The peak temperature has been reduced by on average $5^{\circ}C{\sim}7^{\circ}C$. The overall average temperature reduced from $72^{\circ}C$ to $65^{\circ}C$.

Development of a miniaturized FM transmitter with low power

  • Recently, there has been great interest in the application of short-range wireless communication system. In this paper, the miniaturized FM transmitter with low power is developed, and laboratory tests have been carried out. The FM transmitter uses FM radio waves to send sound from any system (MP3, PMP, PDA, MP3 Phone et.) to any nearby radio or stereo system. The transmitter is designed with $2.6cm{\times}2.6cm{\times}2.6cm$ system size. The operating voltage is 3.7 V and used the built-in storage battery. The system can use continuously during 7 hour with once charging. The transmission frequency can select one of 88.1 MHz, 88.3 MHz, or 88.5 MHz in compliance with utility condition. The channel separation ability is 40 dB. The operating temperature is $-10{\sim}+85^{\circ}C$, which use in the industry environment. Consequently, this system sis used conveniently with short distance information transmitter system at the industry field.

Flow Behavior of Sweet Potato Starch in Mixed Sugar Systems

  • Flow behaviors of sweet potato starch (SPS) pastes (5% w/w) were studied in the presence of various sugars (xylose, glucose, fructose and sucrose) and sugar alcohols (xylitol and sorbitol). The flow properties of SPS-sugar mixtures were determined from the rheological parameters of power law model. The vane method was also employed for determining yield stresses of SPS-sugar mixtures directly under a controlled low shear rate. At $25^{\circ}C$ all the samples showed shear-thinning behaviors ($n=0.35{\sim}0.44$) with yield stress. The consistency index (K) values of SPS-sugar mixtures increased in the following order: sorbitol> xylitol> control (no sugar)> sucrose> fructose> glucose> xylose, showing that the addition of sugar alcohols enhanced the K values. The yield stress values were reduced in the presence of ugars and sugar alcohols and they also increased with an increase in swelling power of starch granules in the SPS-sugar mixture systems.

  • 본 논문에서는 배열 도파로, 격자(Arrayed Waveguide Grating: AWG)를 이용하여 파장분할 다중화(Wavelength-Division Multiplexing: WDM)광 신호의 채널별 파장과 광학적 신호대 잡음비(Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio: OSNR)를 실시간으로 측정하였다. 입력신호의 채널별 파장변화에 따른 AWG의 인접한 두 출력포트의 출력 값의 비율변화는 ${\sim}$1dB/0.026nm로 측정되었으며 채널별 OSNR의 측정에 있어서는 0.7dB이내의 오차를 가진다.

Orthonormal Polynomial based Optimal EEG Feature Extraction for Motor Imagery Brain-Computer Interface

  • In this paper, we explored the new method for extracting feature from the electroencephalography (EEG) signal based on linear regression technique with the orthonormal polynomial bases. At first, EEG signals from electrodes around motor cortex were selected and were filtered in both spatial and temporal filter using band pass filter for alpha and beta rhymic band which considered related to the synchronization and desynchonization of firing neurons population during motor imagery task. Signal from epoch length 1s were fitted into linear regression with Legendre polynomials bases and extract the linear regression weight as final features. We compared our feature to the state of art feature, power band feature in binary classification using support vector machine (SVM) with 5-fold cross validations for comparing the classification accuracy. The result showed that our proposed method improved the classification accuracy 5.44% in average of all subject over power band features in individual subject study and 84.5% of classification accuracy with forward feature selection improvement.

  • The objective of the present study is to develope a propultion unit cooling system for the next-generation High-speed EMU. The propulsion power control unit consists of some IGBT semiconductors. In general, those power semiconductors are very sensitive to temperatures and need a cooling system to keep them at a proper operational conditions in the range of $50{\sim}100^{\circ}C$. In this first year of study, we tried to focuss on the understanding of fundamental technologies for each of the two different cooling systems and collecting basic data for design and manufacturing for both cases. For the water cooling system, a heat sink with multi channels of liquid flow was considered and a model unit was designed and performance test was conducted. For the heat pipe cooling system, a Loop Heat Pipe(LHP) was considered as an element to transport heat from IGBT to environment air flow and a model unit was designed and performance test was conducted. The analysis using SINDA/FLUINT showed that those design parameters are good enough for the LHP to properly operate under a heat load up to around 360W.

  • Output voltage of a DC/DC power converter system is likely to be distorted if variable loads exist in the output terminal. This paper presents a new disturbance observer(DOB) approach to maintain a robust regulation of the output voltage of a boost type DC/DC converter. Unlike the buck-type converter case, the regulation problem of the boost converter is very complicated by the fact that, with respect to the output voltage to be regulated, the system is non-minimum phase. Owing to the non-minimum phase property the classical DOB approach has not been applied to the boost converter. Motivated by a recent result on the application of DOB to non-mimimum phase system, an output feedback control law is proposed by using a parallel feedforward compensator. Simulation results using the Simulink SimPowerSystems prove the performance of the proposed controller against load variation.

  • Recently, smart grid for solving energy problems have been receiving growing attention. Also, renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and fuel cell as future energy for realizing smart grid have been widely studied. On the other hand, hybrid structures have been proposed since the output power of these renewable energy sources is usually dependent on weather conditions. This paper proposes a hybrid system involving a proper photovoltaic in the hybrid system, Polymer Elecrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell with water electrolyzer and ultracapacitor. The results of simulation and output of the proposed model are established and analysed by Matlab/Simulink and SimPowerSystems.
