A Study on Laser Scanning System Using Multi-Facet Hologon (다중-FACET 홀로곤을 이용한 레이저 주사시스템에 관한 연구)

  • Laser scanning system using a hologram is simpler in optical system, lower in cost than using a polygon. In this paper, a thick hologram is fabricated for the underfilled transmission disk type with a merit of wabble insensitivity to vibration. High diffraction efficiency over 50% is obtained using silver halide recording material. The two-dimensional scan pattern with 13 scan-line is made by 7-facet hologon and mirror system. This system can be practically applied to POS(Point of Sale) bar-code symbol reader.

  • In this study, we made experiments the preparation of silver halide microcrystals, physical ripening, chemical ripening, spectral sensitivity, additives and coating in order to develop medical laser scanner film which has photographic characteristic suitable for exposure to He-Ne and Ar laser. In the practice of sensitometry, the photographic material is exposed to a known quantity and quality of radiant energy, developed under standard conditions, and the densities resulting from the various exposures are then measured. The results are usually expressed in graphic form as curves, and from these curves numerical values are derived which are used to specify the characteristics of the material.

  • In analysing the Image quality, one of the most important things to be considered is the granularity at a given emulsion speed. To enhance the image quality, the granularity should be lowered by the suitable methods, such as controlling the design of emulsion, grain size and structure, the distribution state of grains in the emulsion, etc. In this paper, the relations between the AgX grain structure and granularity are studied as a way of lowering granularity. According to the results, it is found that the grain structure is a very important factor for determining the granularity characteristics.istics.

  • 본 논문에서는 홀로그래피용 감광물질로서, 앞으로 가장 발전가능성이 있다고 기대되는 photopolymer에 대해서 언급하고자 한다. 홀로그램은 물체에서 방출되는 빛의 파면에 대한 정보를 기록하는 필름을 말하며 이러한 홀로그램을 이용한 기술을 홀로그래피라고 한다. 먼저 홀로그램 및 홀로그래피의 개념과 원리에 대해 서술하고 현재 사용되고 있는 홀로그래피용 감광물질인 silver-halide나 dichromatic gelatin 등에 대해 소개한다. 이와 비교하여 photopolymer가 가지는 특성과 장점을 기술하고 photopolymer를 기반으로 한 holography의 발전에 따른 차세대 holographic applications에 대해 알아본다.

  • There are various holographic recording materials, such as Dichromated Gelatin, Silver Halide, Thermoplastic, Photoresist. In this paper especially, we used Photoresist to make the phase holographic grating. Deep-groove diffractive grating formed in relatively thin holographic recording material is to express high diffraction efficiency. Phase holographic grating recorded In photoresist can be used very practical because it has the high diffraction efficiency, and it is possible to make a replication easily. So, it has the merit in recording the optical holographic grating than any other materials.

  • With nonhardening fixer, dichromated bleacher and alcohol drying, the diffraction efficiency of over 71o/c has been achie'{ed for holographic phase gratings in silver halide emulsion. The swollen emulsion of Agfa 8E75 HD film is identified by scanning electron microscope (SEM) after chemical processing. Dichromated bleacher and rapid dehydration using alcohol drying make a strong modulation so that diffraction efficiency is. increased over 20%. The principal characteristic parameters in coupled wave theory are investigated and new modified parameter values are presented by computer simulation. Controlling the emulsion thickness has an important role as a potential source for high diffraction efficiency.ciency.

${\beta}-Ag_3SI$ Single Crystal Membrane Electrode (${\beta}-Ag_3SI$ 단결정막 전극에 관한 연구)

  • The single crystal ion-selective electrode,$ {\beta}-Ag_3SI/PVC-THF $membrane electrode has showed a linear potential response to the activities of iodide ion (10-1${\sim}$10-7M). The $ {\beta}-Ag_3SI$ membrane electrode was compared with AgI/PVC-THF membrane and copper metal plate membrane electrodes. In order to measure the selectivity coefficient of the electrodes toward $Cl^-$ and $Br^-$, the separation and mixed solution method were employed. The potential-time curve was obtained by the usual immersion technique and pH effect was also examined. The orders of selectivity for $Br^-$, $Cl^-$ and stability of response time are ${\beta}-Ag_3SI/PVC-THF $membrane > AgI/PVC-THF membrane > copper metal plate membrane. These electrodes could be used as indicating electrodes in the potentiometric titration of a single halide and mixed halides with the standard solution of silver nitrate.

A Study on the Holographic Optical Element for Multiple Image Processing (다중 영상처리용 홀로그래피 광학소자에 관한 연구)

  • Holographic optical element(HOE) is fabricated with the properties of lightweight, thin thickness and interconnectivity for free space. Particularly, HOE for optical interconnection and multiple image processing should have a high efficiency and equal spot intensity, Nonlinear equations for 2-dimensional binary phase grating(BPG) structure is solved by computer simulation based on modified Newton method. Computer-generated pattern drawn by plotter is scaled down and translated into the microfilm. After contact printing between the microfilm and silver halide hologram film, phase diffraction grating produces the $5{\times}5$ multiple spots. Experimental results are shown that bleached phase grating has a high efficiency and equal focused beams except central zero order.

  • Volume phase diffraction grating is formed in 5${mu}m$ Agfa 8E75 photographic emulsion film using He-Ne laser. It is dependent on the chemical processing rather than materials themselves that high diffraction efficiency can obtained in silver halide emulsions. With potassium dichromate bleach and alcohol drying, overall efficiency of 71% (81% after allowing for reflection at the two surfaces) has been achieved at an exposure of 180${mu}J/cm^2.$ Dichromate cross-linkage and air void by rapid dehydration increase refractive index modulation depth. The grating is swollen, which is newly identified by Scanning Electronic Microscope(SEM) photography, and it causes on-Bragg at larger angle than the recording angle. It is pointed out that controlling the emulsion thickness has an important role as a potential source for high diffraction efficiency.

  • As archives, photograph is the evident records of historical facts and experiences. Thus, it is worth preserving. Unlike other documents silver halide photographic films and prints are quite sensitive to environmental factors such as light, temperature and humidity, which demands careful treatment in preservation. This study was carried out to select popular photographic films and papers on the market, to examine their photographic speeds (or sensitivities) and to compare and analyze their preservative features after keeping them some time in a weather-o-meter. Consequently, B/W materials were superior to color ones in preservation. And films were better than papers in the same manner. But we were not able to observe remarkable differences among material's manufacturers.
