  • There are two fold aims in this experimental study. The aim is to investigate the bacteria which produce the high activity enzyme or the cocoon for utilization to the textile and the industry. The ether is to protect against the bacteria that damage silk protein during storage. The results are summarized as followes: 1. Among the isolated bacteria from the cocoon, No 4 strain had the high activity of the $\alpha$-amylase. But this strain had not been identified. The results of experiment is shown in the table II. 2. Among the isolated bacteria from the cocoon, No II strain had the high activity of the protease on substance of the casein. The results of the experiment is shown in the table II. 3. The bacteria which had the high activity of the degumming effect of the sericin, the part of the operation for 7 days was higher part of the operation for 3 days. The results of the experiment are indicated in Fig I and Fig II.

'세명의 학생이 (비디오 가게에서) 영화 일곱편을 빌렸다'라는 표현은 '학생'과 '영화'의 배분성 ${\pm}$ 과 집합성 ${\pm}$ 에 의한 일곱가지 해석 이외에 '세명의 학생이 각자 빌린 영화들이 일곱가지'라는 누적적 해석도 가능하다. 이러한 명사구의 누적적 해석에 대하여 분석하고, 'John always wears a tie,. They, were all silk,'에서 'a tie'와 'they'가 공지표화(i) 되기 위한 통사적 요건(성, 수의 일치)을 충족하지 않는 의존적 복수에 대하여도 분석한다.

  • In this study, cocoons from different silkworm strains and rearing seasons were collected and immersed in water at elevated temperatures to investigate the effect of a wet treatment on their morphology and crystallinity. Untreated cocoons exhibited different crystallinities depending on the silkworm strain and rearing season; however, no distinct changes in their morphological structure were observed. Furthermore, after wet treatment, the differences in the crystallinities of cocoons disappeared. In addition, wet treatment of degummed silk (i.e., fibroin) did not change its crystallinity. These results indicate that different crystallinities of the untreated cocoons collected from various silkworm strains and rearing seasons are due to the different characteristics of sericin in the cocoons.

  • The present study aimed to determine whether a hemolymph prepared from Antheraea yamamai larvae had the same biological activities using a Bombyx mori hemolymph prior to exposure to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in order to induce an inflammatory response. The effects of the hemolymph were determined using a reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction to assess the expression of pro-inflammatory molecules. The A. yamamai hemolymph exerted anti-inflammatory effects on LPS-activated human monocytic leukemia cells via Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4-mediated suppression, similar to the B. mori hemocyte extract. Treatment with the A. yamamai hemolymph significantly suppressed LPS-induced upregulated inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) mRNA expression at all tested concentrations compared with the control, similar to the B. mori immune-challenged hemolymph. Finally, the A. yamamai hemolymph, like the B. mori immune-challenged hemolymph, suppressed all of these concentrations in a dose-independent manner. These results demonstrate that the hemolymph of A. yamamai exhibited important biologically active substances. Further in-depth functional studies are required to fully understand the mechanisms underlying the biological activities of wild-type silkworm hemolymphs.

  • Yongchonppon, one of the native varities, is the highest clod resistant. For its practical use, feeding test has been implemented in the ordinary rearing and in the branch rearing 1987 through 1988. The results are summarized as follows. 1. The feeding of Yongchonppong at the 4th and 5th instar made 5% decrease in spring and 10% decrease of cocoon yield in autumn, respectively, while cocoon shell ratio was a little less and percentage of raw silk was a little high, as compared to the feeding of Kaeryangppong. 2. The feeding of Yongchonppong at the 4th instar only showed nearly same nearing result as the feeding of Kaeryangppon. 3. In case of the feeding of yongchonppong at the 4th instar and early stage of the 5th instar, cocoon yield and percentage of raw silk marked 96% and 97-98% of Kaeryangppong. 4. The total nitrogen and crude protein of Yongchonnppong was less, while the total carbohydrate, crude ash and crude fat were high, as compared to those of Kaeryangppong. It had more phosphate and boric and less manganese than Kaeryangppong. 5. The leaf aereal weight of Yongchonppong was 1.57g/dcm2 and the leaf thickness was 113$\mu$. The moisture reducing rate marked 41.3% after three hour exposure to the air.

  • The Sacheonwangsa temple in Silla was completed in 679, just after the unification of the Three Kingdoms. In recent years, we have been critically considering the history of the chronology based on the existence of 'Geumdang of the previous generation', which has emerged through the research report of the Sacheonwangsa temple. It is the one to reconsider the construction process of the Sacheonwangsa temple centering on the re-interpretation of the construction time and the character of the first stage of the foundation which was confirmed from within the Geumdang site. The results of this study are as follows : 1)The "Chang(創) of Sacheonwangsa temple" in [Three Affairs that Queen Seondeok had already known] that it is presumed that the construction of the Sacheonwangsa temple, which was designed by Anham before 640 years ago, will convey the fact that the first of the King Munmu's reign (661 ~) has been finalized after the initial discussion. 2)Although the theories after excavations are predicated on the existence of 'Geumdang of the previous generation', there is no reason to believe that a lasting predecessor building with roof and pillar walls on predecessor buildings is considered to have been built. The foundation was associated with the "build a temple out of coloured silk(以彩帛營寺)" i.e. 'Jochang(祖創)' in 670 years before the construction plan was formally finalized. However, it is presumed that the remains of the platform construction on the premise that it will be used on the construction of Geumdang. 3)The decision to 'rebuilding( ??)' based on a formal construction plan is determined to be from 670 to 672 years. The maintaining of the original cathedral axis line, to the north on the boundary of the southern limit of the foundation flat portion, the result of developing and embodied the relative position of the Geumdang in the newly determined cathedral unfold and embody, the center of the building base and Geumdang, it is presumed that the centers of them are divided into North and south. 4)The completion of the Sacheonwangsa temple in 679 is understood as the conclusion of 'rebuilding' to "build a temple out of coloured silk" i.e. 'Jochang' in 670 years. The pent roof of the Geumdang was initially considered not to be in the plan, but it is judged to be before the completion of the Sacheonwangsa temple.

  • This study proposes a process to design and analyze stage costumes by design elements for the costumes of the Korean traditional music cantata 'I Will Rise'. This study states fundamental references to make costumes of similar performances in the future and develop costume designs based on the format of a play. The findings are as follows. First, the costume production process of 'I Will Rise' is conducted in the order of directing intentions and script analysis, costume design, miniature production, costume production, costume modification, run, and post-production. Second, an overall Korean silhouette is expressed through the creation of costumes based on the construction of Korean traditional clothing (hanbok); however, from a detail perspective, a modernistic sensitivity is expressed through the use of modern elements (wing shoulders attached to shoulders, narrow ribbons made in a string form, and wristlets and belts) not found in hanboks. Third, tie-dying is applied to the costume colors of each character to highlight the traditional and unique feeling of dye and symbolic colors that effectively represent each role used to communicate the storyline and character emotions to the audience. Fourth, materials for costumes are cotton and linen (frequently used to create the texture of a Hanbok) as the costume of each character is emphasized to the use of additional and detailed materials such as artificial leather, hemp, and silk.

  • There has been a lot of debate between scholars around the folding screen painting, A Beauty under the Tree[조모입여병풍], a collection of Shosoin, Japan. Even though it is preserved in Japan, its distinguished Chinese feature made many scholars to think it might be made in China and be transmitted to Japan. However, the inspection of the material during $1973{\sim}1975$ has revealed an important fact, that is, the feather used in this screen painting belonged to Japanese bird feather. Moreover, a great amount of documents written in Tenbyo(천평승보, 8th century) period, which was thought to be used as the ground material of this painting. Therefore we can get many evidences saying that this painting was made in japan. In a basic sense, I stand on this side just because it has more evidences. However, we must be careful to make a final conclusion. Especially on the precious things like this painting screen, we must take whole considerations as possible as we can. First of all, we must consider whether Japan could have ability to make this. Second, there could be other possibility that Japanese repair the original one with their feathers or papers. In order to prove this, study on other pieces including painting screens should be done. I just suggest an objective international discussion. Lastly, I can find the common feature between the pieces of Shosoin and the ones of United Shilla, which could be influenced by same impact, the Silk road trade in a broad sense.

  • I observed the meaning and the symbolic charaeters about the color and style of clothes appearing at "GER GA JAP BOK GO" written by Kyu Soo Park. The black color of Hyun Eui as a ceremonial dress of man symbolizes Heaven and Virtue. The yellow color of Whang Sang as a ceremonial dress of man symbolizes the Earth and the Impartiality. The blue or black decoration line over white ground of Sim Eui as ordinary dress of man symbolizes also Filial Piety. In woman ordinary upper garment, So Eui, black texture edging with blue line implies the mutual symmetricity with her husband's. Besides, white color texture lining So Eui symbolical to a Devine Nature and Homage implies also the deep concealment of feminine body. The black ground color of child dress "Chi Po Eui" symbolizes Naivety, and the red silk color of it's decoration line, belt and tress ornaments implies the praise of the Virtue & Learning and also "Expel the Evil" of our traditional national characteristics. As described above the meaning and symbolic characters about the color and style of clothes appearing at "GER GA JAP BOK GO" has a very Chinese disposition, but it's author Kyu Soo Park modified somewhat to be in harmony with the real social situation of our Country during that latest stage of Yi Dynasty, because he was one of the prominent pragmatist at that time.
