To prepare weather-resistant modified silane acrylic resin coatings for an architectural purpose, tetrapolymers were synthesized by radical polymerization. 3-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS) as a silicone monomer and n-butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and n-butyl methacrylate as acrylic monomers were used. The composition of monomers was adjusted to fix the glass transition temperature of acrylic polymer for $20^{\circ}C$. The composition of MPTS in the synthesized polymer were varied from 10 wt% to 30 wt%. On the basis of synthesized resin amber paints were prepared and their physical properties and effects on weatherability were examined. The presence of MPTS in modified silane acrylic resins generally resulted in low molecular weight and broad molecular weight distribution, and also lowered the viscosity of the copolymers. The coated films prepared from these resins showed good and balanced properties in general. Adhesion to the substrate was outstanding in particular. Weatherability tests were carried out in three different types such as outdoor exposure, QUV, and SWO. The test results showed that the modified silane acrylic resins containing 30 wt% of MPTS had superior weathering properties.
This study was performed for elucidating the effects on surface polishing of composite resins. In this study, Silux(microfilled), Graft(hybrid), Bisfil- I (hybrid posterior) and Hi-pol(conventional) were used. Sixty specimens were made with 4 brands of composite resins and Optilux system in $2.0{\times}1.3{\times}1.0cm$ resin block which has a cavity with 0.5cm diameter and 0.5cm depth. Polishing was done with #600 sand paper and Soflex, Super-snap, Micron finishing system, or Composite polishing kit. Final polished surfaces were measured by roughness tester(Kasaka Lab. Ltd., Japan) and image analyser(Omnimet Image Analyser, Buehler, USA). The results were as follows, 1. The celluloid strip produced the smoothest surfaces. 2. Light curing microfilled composite resin, Silux, had smoother surface than any others. 3. The surfaces polished by Soflex were smoothest. 4. Aluminum oxide disk, Soflex and Super-Snap, made smoother surface than diamond bur, M.F.S., or silicon point, Composite polishing kit. 5. The roughness values of surface polished by M.F.S. composed of diamond burs, were less than those of Composite polishing kit made from silicone points.

Intellectual disability is accompanied by a high incidence of congenitally absent teeth and supernumerary teeth, and is observed more frequently than are disorders of location and order during delayed eruption, when accompanied by other symptoms. Furthermore, it is associated with a higher occurrence of dental anomalies such as conical teeth, microdontia, and amelogenesis imperfecta. As it is difficult to obtain adequate cooperation from patients with intellectual disabilities, physical restraint and conscious sedation using medication and general anesthesia can be considered. Reshaping of conical teeth with resin composite may be helpful to rehabilitate patients with oligodontia and a conical tooth shape. Diagnostic wax-up and a silicone matrix formed the basis for the successful reconstruction of the anterior teeth. This case describes the treatment of a patient with intellectual disability who had oligodontia and conical-shaped incisors. Under general anesthesia, the patient was treated using direct composite resin restoration.
For accurate impression taking, accurate impression material, solid individual tray, and bond strength between impression materials and resin tray are important factors. The purpose of this study was to evaluate tensile bond strength of rubber impression materials to various tray resin materials. This study tested the time dependent tensile bond strength between commercial brands or poly ether, polysulfide, additional silicone impression materials and commercial brands of self curing tray resin. light activited tray resin when applying adhesive Resin specimens were made with 20mm in diameter, 2mm in thickness. 1 made total 360 specimens, 10 per each group and the tensile bond strength was measured by using the Instron($M100EC^{(R)}$, Mecmesin Co., England). The results were as follows ; Comparisons of various impression materials. 1. In case of Impregum $F^{(R)}$, the bond strength of tray resin was decreased in order of SR $Ivolen^{(R)}$, Ostron $100^{(R)}$ Instant tray $mix^{(R)}$, $Lightplast^{(R)}$. All groups excluding Ostron $100^{(R)}$, Instant tray $mix^{(R)}$ are significant difference (p<0.05). Drying time after applying adhesive, the tensile bond strength of tray resin was insignificantly decreased in order of 10 min drying time group. 1 min drying time group. 5 min drying time group. 2. In case of Permlastic $regular^{(R)}$ the bond strength of tray resin was insignificantly decreased in order of Ostron $100^{(R)}$. SR $Ivolen^{(R)}$, Instant tray $mix^{(R)}$$Lightplast^{(R)}$. About drying time after applying adhesive, the tensile bond strength of tray resin was significantly decreased in order of 5 min drying time group, 10 min drying time group, 1 min drying time group(p<0.05). 3. In case of Exaflex $regular^{(R)}$. the bond strength of tray resin was decreased in order of $Lightplast^{(R)}$, SR $Ivolen^{(R)}$, Instant tray $mix^{(R)}$, Ostron $100^{(R)}$. $Lightplast^{(R)}$ was significant difference(p<0.05). About drying time after applying adhesive, the tensile bond strength of tray resin was decreased in order of 5 min drying time group, 10 min drying time group, 1 min drying time group(p<0.05). Especially 5 min ding time group was significant difference(p<0.05). According to the results of this study, we can see the greatest tensile bond strength when using Impregrm $F^{(R)}$ and Permlastic $regular^{(R)}$ with self curing tray resin, when using Exaflex $regular^{(R)}$ with light activated tray resin In my opinion, adhesive should be dried more than 5 min before impression taking to achieve the greatest tensile bond strength.
Polyethersulfone (PES) asymmetric membranes for gas separation were prepared by dry/wet phase inversion method and their separation properties for CO$_2$ and N$_2$ gases were investigated. The effects of important variables such as composition of casting solution and evaporation time in preparation of asymmetric gas membrane on membrane morphology and the separation properties were analyzed and the optimum condition of membrane preparation was established. To compensate the defects like pinholes existed on skin layer of the membrane prepared, the membranes were coated with silicone resin. By comparing separation properties after coating with those before coating, we found that the coating of silicone resin was effective to enhance the separation properties. The casting solution mainly used in this study consisted of PES, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, acetone, ethanol and distilled water was used as coagulation agent. It was shown that the selectivity for CO$_2$/N$_2$ was getting higher but the permeability decreases, as the contents of PES and volatile organic solvent and evaporation time increased. The selectivity for CO$_2$/N$_2$ and permeability of CO$_2$ of the membrane prepared under the optimum condition were found to be 61 and 21 GPU, respectively.

PURPOSE. The purpose of this study is to compare single and three-unit metal frameworks that are produced by micro-stereolithography. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Silicone impressions of a selected molar and a premolar were used to make master abutments that were scanned into a stereolithography file. The file was processed with computer aided design software to create single and three-unit designs from which resin frameworks were created using micro-stereolithography. These resin frameworks were subjected to investment, burnout, and casting to fabricate single and three-unit metal ones that were measured under a digital microscope by using the silicone replica technique. The measurements were verified by means of the Mann-Whitney U test (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The marginal gap was $101.9{\pm}53.4{\mu}m$ for SM group and $104.3{\pm}62.9{\mu}m$ for TUM group. The measurement of non-pontics in a single metal framework was $93.6{\pm}43.9{\mu}m$, and that of non-pontics in a three-unit metal framework was $64.9{\pm}46.5{\mu}m$. The dimension of pontics in a single metal framework was $110.2{\pm}61.4{\mu}m$, and that of pontics in a three-unit metal framework was $143.7{\pm}51.8{\mu}m$. CONCLUSION. The marginal gap was smaller for the single metal framework than for the three-unit one, which requires further improvement before it can be used for clinical purposes.

PDMS modified epoxy resin with epoxy group (EMPDMS) was prepared from the reaction of ${\alpha},{\omega}$-aminopropylpolydimethylsiloxane and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA) based epoxy resin, and PDMS modified epoxy hybrid compound (EMPDMSH) was prepared by introducing alkylesteraminopropyl alkoxy silane to EMPDMS. Their structures were characterized using FT-IR, $^1H$-NMR and $^{29}Si$-NMR. Coating materials were prepared by mixing EMPDMSH base and solvent. Physical properties of the coating materials coated on epoxy/glass fiber composite film were measured according to the content of PDMS in EMPDMSH. Contact angle of coating film was increased 30 to 71 degree. Adhesive property of coating film was 5B degree better then epoxy or acrylate coating materials, and surface roughness was decreased as increasing in EMPDMSH.

The patients' demand for treatment of unesthetic anterior teeth is steadily growing. Accordingly, several treatment options such as porcelain laminate veneers(PLV) have been proposed to restore the esthetic appearance of the dentition. Porcelain laminate veneers are considered minimally invasive, but they also require removal of sound enamel. One critical step in the porcelain laminate veneer technique is the achievement of sufficient ceramic thickness, and several different strategies for tooth preparation can be found in the literature. This clinical report describes a step-by-step protocols for preparation of these restorations used with the silicone index from diagnostic wax-up and the acrylic resin mock-up. Conservative use of porcelain laminate veneers provided satisfactory esthetic outcomes and preserved sound tooth structure.
PURPOSE. This study evaluated the effect of chemical surface treatment using methyl formate-methyl acetate (MF-MA) solution on the tensile bond strength between acrylic denture teeth and auto-polymerized acrylic resin. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Seventy maxillary central incisor acrylic denture teeth for each of three different brands (Yamahachi New Ace; Major Dent; Cosmo HXL) were embedded with incisal edge downwards in auto-polymerized resin in polyethylene pipes and ground with silicone carbide paper on their ridge lap surfaces. The teeth of each brand were divided into seven groups (n=10): no surface treatment (control group), MF-MA solution at a ratio of 25:75 (v/v) for 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 120 seconds, 180 seconds, and MMA for 180 seconds. Auto-polymerized acrylic resin (Unifast Trad) was applied to the ground surface and polymerized in a pressure cooker. A tensile strength test was performed with a universal testing machine. Statistical analysis of the results was performed using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post-hoc Dunnett T3 test (${\alpha}$=.05). RESULTS. The surface treatment groups had significantly higher mean tensile bond strengths compared with the control group (P<.05) when compared within the same brand. Among the surface treatment groups of each brand, there were no significantly different tensile bond strengths between the MF-MA groups and the MMA 180 second group (P>.05), except for the Yamahachi New Ace MF-MA 180-second group (P<.05). CONCLUSION. 15-second MF-MA solution can be an alternative chemical surface treatment for repairing a denture base and rebonding acrylic denture teeth with auto-polymerized acrylic resin, for both conventional and cross-linked teeth.

Recently, Silicone that one of the thermo-sets is used to making optical products such as LED lenses because of excellent thermal properties. LED lenses are required to keep the precise dimensions, so they must be molded to have the minimum deformation. Thermo-sets have the expansion characteristic on the part of thermal property, it is important to optimize the cure condition so that the deformation of the part become minimum. In this study, to investigate the relationship between the shrinkage by the curing and expansion by the thermal properties of the resin, reactive injection experiment was performed by setting the variables such as mold setting temperature, cure time. As a result, it was confirmed that there was a interval while the thermal properties were transferred to more active during the cure process. It is expected to help in determining the reactive injection molding conditions of the thermo-set parts as well as LED lens in order to reduce the amount of deformation.
