In this study, a smoothing method was applied to improve the accuracy of peak wave period estimation using the water surface elevation observed from the Oceanographic and Meteorological Observation Tower located on the west coast of the Korean Peninsula. Validation of the application of the smoothing method was per- formed using variance of the surface elevation and total amount wave energy, and then the effect on the application of smoothing was analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the correlation coefficient between variance of the surface elevation and total amount wave energy was 0.9994, confirming that there was no problem in applying the method. Thereafter, as a result of reviewing the effect of smoothing, it was found to be reduced by about 4 times compared to the confidence interval of the existing estimated spectrum, confirming that the accuracy of the estimated peak wave period was improved. It was found that there was a statistically significant difference in proba- bility density between 4 and 6 seconds due to the smoothing application. In addition, for optimal smoothing, the appropriate number of smoothings according to the significant wave height range was calculated using a statistical technique, and the number of smoothings was found to increase due to the unstable spectral shape as the significant wave height decreased.

The present article deals with comparisons of published liquid breakup models for diesel sprays to analyze the influence of breakup models on various spray parameters. The three different models tested in this study are the surface wave instability (Wave) model, the Taylor analogy breakup (TAB) model, and the drop drag model(DDM). The numerical results using these models are compared with several experimental data to assess the prediction capabilities of breakup models. Additional task in this study is to investigate effects of the breakup time constant in the Wave model on the spray parameters because the spray behavior is sensitive to the breakup time constant. It is seen that there is uncertainly about the breakup time constant indicating that the suitable acceptance of the constant is important, and the TAB model generally shows significant under-prediction of Sauter Mean Diameter(SMD). In addition, it may be indicated that differences between the DDM and Wave model are not significant, showing that the DDM may be suitable for air-assisted atomization rather than pressure atomization.
Pulse wave velocity (PWV) is used to non-invasively estimate the severity of arteriosclerosis by measuring arterial stiffness. Increased arterial stiffness measured by PWV stands for progressive arteriosclerosis and is caused by atherosclerotic risk factors. This study is focused on how brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) is related to the leading risk factors for arteriosclerosis or atherosclerosis. Subjects were 114, 69 males and 45 females who are in 60's and had baPWV test for acute stroke. The results are as follows: the group with increased arterial stiffness showed significant increase in HbA1c, total cholesterol, BSBP (brachial artery systolic blood pressure), BDBP (brachial artery diastolic blood pressure), CSBP (central artery systolic blood pressure), CDBP (central artery diastolic blood pressure), augmentation index (AIx) and diabetes mellitus. Correlation analysis between baPWV and atherosclerotic risk factor showed significant relationship in age, HbA1c, LDL cholesterol, BSBP, BDBP, CSBP, CDBP and augmentation index. baPWV was independently related to age and BSBP in multiple linear regression analysis. The group with increased arterial stiffness was independently related to BDBP in multiple logistic regression analysis. This study might be meaningful in evaluating the relationship between arterial stiffness and atherosclerotic risk factor in a new way, and be helped to make various studies for cardiovascular disease.
Sea waves induce significant pressures on coastal surfaces, especially on rocky vertical cliffs or breakwater structures (Peregrine 2003). In the present work, this hydrodynamic pressure is considered as the excitation acting on a piezoelectric material sheet, installed on a vertical cliff, and connected to an external electric circuit (on land). The whole hydro/piezo/electric system is modeled in the context of linear wave theory. The piezoelectric elements are assumed to be small plates, possibly of stack configuration, under a specific wiring. They are connected with an external circuit, modeled by a complex impedance, as usually happens in preliminary studies (Liang and Liao 2011). The piezoelectric elements are subjected to thickness-mode vibrations under the influence of incident harmonic water waves. Full, kinematic and dynamic, coupling is implemented along the water-solid interface, using propagation and evanescent modes (Athanassoulis and Belibassakis 1999). For most energetically interesting conditions the long-wave theory is valid, making the effect of evanescent modes negligible, and permitting us to calculate a closed-form solution for the efficiency of the energy harvesting system. It is found that the efficiency is dependent on two dimensionless hydro/piezo/electric parameters, and may become significant (as high as 30 - 50%) for appropriate combinations of parameter values, which, however, corresponds to exotically flexible piezoelectric materials. The existence or the possibility of constructing such kind of materials formulates a question to material scientists.
The aim of this in vitro study was to investigate the coronal leakage of obligate anaerobes into root canals obturated with two different techniques. 48 extracted human teeth with straight, single root canals were prepared with crown-down technique with Profile under copious irrigation until the master apical file was size 40. The teeth were divided randomly into experimental groups (40 teeth) and control groups (8 teeth). In the experimental groups, 20 teeth were obturated with lateral condensation and other 20 teeth were obturated with continuous wave technique with System B. Coronal leakage of two root canal filing technique was evaluated using anaerobic bacterial leakage model with Fusobacterium nucleatum(ATCC 25586) for 60 days. The results were as follows 1. The incidence of bacterial leakage of experimental groups was 65% in group 1 (lateral condensation) and 60% in group 2 (continuous wave technique with System B). This difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). 2. There was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05) in leakage score between group 1 (lateral condensation) and group2 (continuous wave technique with System B).
Using the wave data by typhoons LEE, VERA, THELMA which gave great damages in the Korean penisula, the significant waves based on zero-up & down crossing and Tucker-Draper method are compared with those from the wave energy spectrum. And the histograms of individual waves obtained from zero-up crossing method are presented and compared with the Rayleigh, Weibull, Gluhovski, Ibrageemov and Goda distributions, and also the Chi-square goodness of fit test is applied to each theoretical distributions. It is shown that the significant wave heights by zero-up crossing method are very well agreed to those by energy spectrum method. The wave heights are found to well follow the Rayleigh and Goda distributions by the Chi-square test.
Objective: This study aims to investigate high energy and low energy extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and which one is more effective for shoulder pain. Design: Single blind randomized controlled trial. Methods: Fifty two subjects with upper trapezius (UT) trigger point (TrP) participated in this study. They were allocated to high energy (n=26) and low energy group (n=26). This study applies ESWT and investigates the changes of pressure pain threshold (PPT) and visual analogue scale (VAS). The high and low energy groups received focused piezo electric type ESWT 4 Hz, 1,000 pulses and 0.351 and $0.092mJ/mm^2$ respectively. Outcome measures of PPT and pain was measured by algometer and pain VAS. These measurements were performed before and after treatment. Results: The PPT value was significantly increased in both groups after treatment (p<0.05) and VAS scores were significantly decreased after treatment in both groups (p<0.05). However, there were no significant differences between groups. Conclusions: ESWT is an effective treatment for the application of the UT TrP. Although there were significant effects of extracorporeal shock wave therapy on PPT and VAS scores, there were no signficant differences between high and low energy extracorporeal shock wave therapy.
Purpose: This study aims to respond to essential queries regarding significant impacts the Korean Wave had on the music business especially in light of K-pop's explosive growth on the international scene and how to transform Hallyu into the global dynamics of the music business. Also, the study investigates what degree of cultural bridging through Music's universal language has Kpop achieved beyond its status as a purely musical genre. Research design, data and methodology: For the process of data collecting, the current investigators used a combination of keywords and controlled vocabulary terms to conduct in-depth searches across reputable academic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Keywords are significant in searching databases such that the desired articles can be sought out wiith the keywords "Korean Wave," "Hallyu," and "music industry,". Results: The investigators found the globalization of K-pop, diverse audience engagement, digital transformation, and cultural exchange through Music as four critical effects of the Korean Wave on the music business. Conclusions: Lastly, this study concludes that As we end our investigation into Hallyu's effects on the music business, it is clear that Korean Music's cultural impact and international appeal have created new opportunities and particular difficulties for both professionals and artists.

Carriers moving in a semiconductor can impart gain or loss to an acousic wave traveling through Piezo-electric materials. In this paper, surface a coustic wave amplifiers, which employ the interaction between carriers drifting in a semiconduct or film and electic fields accompanying a Rayleigh wave propagating on a Piezoelectric substrate, are described. The effect of various electromagnetic boundary condition on th propagation of surface waves in Piezoelectrics is considered. An expression for the dependence of surface wave velocity on electic boundary conditions is derived. Calculations show that, for properly prepared material, significant amplification is expected up to the microwave frequencies. At high frequencies, gain is reduced because electro diffusion smooths out the electron bucning necessary for amplification.

A classification ensemble method aggregates different classifiers obtained from training data to classify new data points. Voting algorithms are typical tools to summarize the outputs of each classifier in an ensemble. WAVE, proposed by Kim et al. (2011), is a new weight-adjusted voting algorithm for ensembles of classifiers with an optimal weight vector. In this study, when constructing an ensemble, we applied the WAVE algorithm on the double-bagging method (Hothorn and Lausen, 2003) to observe if any significant improvement can be achieved on performance. The results showed that double-bagging using WAVE algorithm performs better than other ensemble methods that employ plurality voting. In addition, double-bagging with WAVE algorithm is comparable with the random forest ensemble method when the ensemble size is large.
