  • CALVAL (Calibration & Validation) shall consider payloads characteristics because satellites have one and/or several payloads in order to perform their various missions. SAR satellite, one of various satellite, shall need to use special ground targets, which can reflect the radar signal to the satellite, because it can see objects with reflected radar signal. Therefore, the special ground targets, which are called generally reflector(corner reflector is the one of them) shall be installed and constructed on the ground path. The satellite must access the targets on that path. To accomplish successful calibration, the CALVAL site including corner reflectors will be surveyed and analyzed using various environment characteristics. In this paper, CALVAL site including point targets(corner reflector) for absolute radiometric calibration except one including distributed targets for relative radiometric calibration has been deeply considered.

  • An exact spectrum wish no leakage error could be obtained when the period of the signal coincides perfectly with the record length. However, the record length will be determined regardless of the period of signal. The Leakage error due to this problem will gibe a distorted spectrum. In the conventional research, the method was proposed to estimate the three parameters, frequency, amplitude and phase angle, from the spectrum data for anundamped sinusoidal signal. In this paper, some techniques are proposed to estimate frequency, amplitude and damping ratios from the frequency response functions for damped signals. The validation of the proposed techniques is verified by several numerical examples.

  • In this papers, we proposed the new method in order to diagnosis aging state of transformers. For wavelet transform, Daubechies filter is used, we can obtain wavelet coefficients which is used to extract feature of statistical parameters (maximum value, average value, dispersion skewness, kurtosis) about each acoustic emission signal. Also, these coefficients are used to identify normal and fault signal of internal partial discharge in transformer. As improved method for classification use neural network. Extracted statistical parameters are input into an back-propagation neural network. The number of neurons of hidden layer are obtained through Result of Cross-Validation. The network, after training, can decide whether the test signal is early aging state, alst aging state or normal state. In quantity analysis, capability of proposed method is superior to compared that of classical method.

  • This paper presents a design of a transmission line negative group delay (NGD) circuit with multiple pole characteristics. By inserting an additional transmission line into a conventional NGD circuit, the proposed circuit provides further design parameters to obtain wideband group delay (GD) and to help reduce signal attenuation. As a result, the number of gain compensating amplifiers can be reduced, which can contribute to stable operation when integrated into RF systems. The multiple pole characteristics can provide wider NGD bandwidth and can be obtained by connecting resonators with slightly different center frequencies separated by quarter-wavelength transmission lines. For experimental validation, an NGD circuit with two poles GD characteristic is designed, simulated, and measured.

  • The optics and the signal processor of dual beam laser Doppler velocimeter(LDV) was fabricated. By using the dual beam and the forward scattering, the optics part of LDV was fabricated. And the signal processor of LDV was designed by the frequency counter type using new 11:6 period timing device in order to remove error signals, and was made of the reference clock of a 500 MHz ECL oscillator. Doppler frequencies from 10KHz to 70MHz can be measured using the signal processor. In the accuracy of the period counting part, from 1.81x10**-4% to 1.27% is estimated, and in the accuracy of the validation logic part, from 0.78% to 14.78% is estimated.

  • We demonstrate a simulation of a parallel hybrid fiber amplifier in the C+L-band with a gain controlling technique. A variable optical coupler is used to control the input signal power for both EDFA and RFA branches. The gain spectra of the C+L-band are flattened by optimizing the coupling ratio of the input signal power. In order to enhance the pump conversion efficiency, the EDFA branch was pumped by the residual Raman pump power. A gain bandwidth of 60 nm from 1530 nm to 1590 nm is obtained with large input signal power less than -5 dBm. The gain variation is about 1.06 dB at a small input signal power of -30 dBm, and it is reduced to 0.77 dB at the large input signal power of -5 dBm. The experimental results show close agreement with the simulation results.

  • In this paper, we formulate an optimal control problem to obtain the optimal signal strength and detection threshold for tracking with NN filter, First, we predict the tracking performance of NN filter by using the HYCA method. Based on this method, the predicted tracking performance is represented with respect to signal strength and detection threshold. Using this relation, we find the optimal parameters for following three examples: 1) the sequence of optimal detection threshold which minimizes sum of position estimation error; 2) the sequence of optimal detection threshold which minimizes sum of validation gate volume; and 3) the sequence of optimal signal strength and detection threshold which minimizes sum of signal strength.

  • The payload can be classified as a passive and active type. Generally radar satellite to acquire specific information through various radar images will use the SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) as active type payload. the principal of SAR satellite is to receive the signal returned from certain objects and/or surfaces in order to construct an radar image. The data acquired from the satellite in its real orbit shall be needed to perform successful CAL/VAL (Calibration & Validation) because the SAR satellite have to receive the returned signal for SAR image construction. In order to do the above, the returned signal shall be related to ground targets. Especially ground target is the corner reflector (CR) for CAL/VAL. Generally the reflector has various types and shapes. Their selection can be dependent on characteristics and mission objectives of SAR satellite. In this paper, reflector focused on the optimal case and effective case has been studied and then the trihedral corner reflector under this study has been designed and its performance also analyzed.

  • In recent years, MEMS sensors show huge attraction in machine condition monitoring, which have advantages in power, size, cost, mobility and flexibility. They can integrate with smart sensors and MEMS sensors are batch product. So the prices are cheap. And the suitability of it for condition monitoring is researched by experimental study. This paper presents a comparative study and performance test of classification of MEMS sensors in target machine fault classification by 3 intelligent classifiers. We attempt to signal validation of MEMS sensor accuracy and reliability and performance comparisons of classifiers are conducted. MEMS accelerometer and MEMS current sensors are employed for experiment test. In addition, a simple feature extraction and cross validation methods were applied to make sure MEMS sensors availabilities. The result of application is good for using fault classification.

  • In the PANBOX 2 system an excore detector module simulating the excore signal responses during a short term transient is implemented in order to simulate the reaction of the flux detector and control system upon rapid power changes as it occurs e. g, in rod drop events. This module has been verified in the past by comparison calculations with the PANBOX 1 system. This report describes additional PANBOX 2 validation calculations which have bee compared with experiment data measured at german plant KKG, cycle 1, for a rod drop event. In general, the PANBOX 2 results are in very good agreement with the KKG experiments. Therefore it is concluded that the excore detector model of PANBOX 2 is successfully validated.
