In this paper a simple and effective call admission control (CAC) scheme is proposed for the emerging interleave-division multiple-access (IDMA) systems, supporting a variety of traffic types and offering different quality of service (QoS) requirements and priority levels. The proposed scheme is signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) evolution based CAC (SE-CAC). The key idea behind the scheme is to take advantage of the SINR evolution technique in the process of making admission decisions, which is developed from the effective chip-by-chip (CBC) multi-user detection (MUD) process in IDMA systems. By virtue of this semi-analytical technique, the MUD efficiency can be estimated accurately. Additionally, the computational complexity can be considerably reduced. These features make the scheme highly suitable for IDMA systems, which can combat intra-cell interference efficiently with simple CBC MUD. Analysis and simulation results show that compared to the traditional CAC scheme considering MUD efficiency as a constant, the proposed SE-CAC scheme can guarantee high power efficiency and throughput for multimedia traffic even in heavy load conditions, illustrating the high efficiency of CBC MUD. Furthermore, based on the SINR evolution, the SE-CAC can make accurate estimation of available resource considering the effect of MUD, leading to low outage probability as well as low blocking and dropping probability.

This paper studies the design of a multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where a base station (BS) transmits independent messages to multiple users. The remarkable "dirty paper coding (DPC)" result was first presented by Costa that the capacity does not change if the Gaussian interference is known at the transmitter noncausally. While several implementable DPC schemes have been proposed recently for single-user dirty-paper channels, DPC is still difficult to implement directly in practical multiuser MIMO channels. In this paper, we propose a network channel matrix triangulation (NMT) algorithm for utilizing interference known at the transmitter. The NMT algorithm decomposes a multiuser MIMO channel into a set of parallel, single-input single-output dirty-paper subchannels and then successively employs the DPC to each subchannel. This approach allows us to extend practical single-user DPC techniques to multiuser MIMO downlink cases. We present the sum rate analysis for the proposed scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes approach the sum rate capacity of the multiuser MIMO downlink at moderate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values.

We investigate the bit error rate against signal-to-noise ratio performance corresponding to track mis-registration for patterned media storage. The patterned media channels with and without soft underlayer are implemented, and we simulate using one-dimensional Viterbi detector and two-dimensional soft output Viterbi detector (SOVA) when the track mis-registration is 0% (on-track), 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. While the BER performance degrades approximate 0.3 ~ 0.5 dB at 10% track mis-registration, it degrades severe over 10% track mis-registration.

In multi-user MIMO systems, a base station transmits multiple data to multi-user simultaneously in order to improve performance and bandwidth efficiency. When the base station transmits multiple data to multi-user simultaneously, multi-user interference occurs severely. In this paper, we define a post-processing leakage as the total power leaked from desired user to all other users after combining at the output of each user. Using concept of the post-processing leakage, we also define a performance metric, the so called signal-to-post-processing-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SPPLNR). Assuming that the receiver is the minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver, we propose an iterative SPPLNR-based beamforming that determines beamforming vectors and combining vectors by using an iterative method. The proposed scheme does not impose a condition on the relation between the number of transmit antennas for the base station and the number of receive antennas for users. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms a beamforming scheme perfectly eliminating the multi-user interference when channel estimation error exists.

Optical repeater is often installed at the isolated area. Spatial separation makes it possible to reduce the inter-code interference when secondary scrambling codes are used for traffic connected through repeater. In this paper, we propose five secondary scrambling code usage scenarios with the aids of optical repeater to maximize the user capacity. In order to evaluate the performance, dynamic system level simulation is performed. We also propose a base station-repeater switching where each active users can change access points by comparing the channel condition from base station and repeater thorough secondary common pilot channel (S-CPICH) signal to noise-interference ratio (SINR). Moreover, primary-secondary scramble code replacing scheme is proposed which replaces secondary scramble code with primary scramble code when a call using primary scramble code is ended and its corresponding OVSF code is available to users using the secondary scramble code

In this paper, the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with a precoder is considered in the transmit-correlated Rayleigh channels. We specifically target the MIMO system employing the minimum mean square error receivers. Based on random matrix theory, we first present a direct and generalized formulation for deriving a probability density function (PDF) of the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR). Then, we derive the accurate closed-form SINR PDFs for a small number of transmit and receive antennas. Based on the SINR PDFs, tight closed-form approximations of the symbol error rate (SER) are derived. Our analysis suggests that the SER approximations can be used to accurately estimate the error probabilities or as a useful tool for the system design.

The generalized sidelobe cancellers(GSC's) ar used for suppressing an interference in array radar. The frequency-domain GSC's have a faster convergence rate than the time-domain GSC's because they remove the correlation between the interferences using a frequency-domain least mean square(LMS) algorithm. However, we have not fully used the advantage of the frequency-domain GSC's since we have always updated the weights of all frequency bins, even the interferer free frequency bin. In this paper, we propose a new frequency-domain GSC based on constant false-alarm rate(CFAR) detector, of which GSC adaptively determine the bin whose weight is updated according to the power of each frequency bin. This canceller updates the weight of only updated according to the power of each frequency bin. This canceller updates the weight of only the bin of which the power is high because of the interference signal. The computer simulation shows that the new GSC reduces the iteration number for convergence over the conventional GSC's by more than 100 iterations. The signal-to-noise ration(SNR) improvement is more than 5 dB. Moreover, the number of renewal weights required for the adaptation is much fewer than that of the conventional one.

In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based transmit power control scheme to maximize the sum-rates while satisfying the minimum data-rate in downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems. In downlink NOMA, we consider the co-channel interference that occurs from a base station other than the cell where the user is located, and the user feeds back the signal-to-interference plus noise power ratio (SINR) information instead of channel state information to reduce system feedback overhead. Therefore, the base station controls transmit power using only SINR information. The use of implicit SINR information has the advantage of decreasing the information dimension, but has disadvantage of reducing the data-rate. In this paper, we resolve this problem with deep learning-based training methods and show that the performance of training can be improved if the dimension of deep learning inputs is effectively reduced. Through simulation, we verify that the proposed deep learning-based power control scheme improves the sum-rate while satisfying the minimum data-rate.

In this paper, the downlink performance of multi-cell distributed antenna systems (DAS) with a single user in each cell is investigated. Assuming the channel state information is available at the transmitter, four transmission modes are formulated as combinations of remote antenna units (RAUs) selection and cooperative transmission, namely, non-cooperative transmission without RAU selection (NCT), cooperative transmission without RAU selection (CT), non-cooperative transmission with RAU selection (NCT_RAUS), and cooperative transmission with RAU selection (CT_RAUS). By using probability theory, the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of a user's signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) and the system ergodic capacity under the above four modes are determined, and their closed-form expressions are obtained. Furthermore, the system energy efficiency (EE) is studied by introducing a realistic power consumption model of DAS. An expression for determining EE is formulated, and the closed-form tradeoff relationship between spectral efficiency (SE) and EE is derived as well. Simulation results demonstrate their consistency with the theoretical analysis and reveal the factors constraining system EE, which provide a scientific basis for future design and optimization of DAS.

In this paper, we derive the average received beampattern at each receive node which is randomly distributed within a disk when considering a collaborative beanforming between transmission nodes which are randomly distributed within another disk for ad hoc sensor network. Numerical results show that the radius of disk at the transmitter determines the beamwidth of mainbeam, and the sidebeam is affected by the number of transmitter nodes. We also consider K receive groups and divide the transmit sensor modes into K groups to support each receive group using beamforming, and derive the SINR at each receive node. Finally, we investigate the effects of beampattern and interference on total sum capacity among all receive node, and numerically determine the number of transmit nodes for each group which can achieve the maximal sum capacity.
