Linear Suppression of Intercarrier Interference in Time-Varying OFDM Systems: From the Viewpoint of Multiuser Detection

  • Intercarrier interference (ICI) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, which causes substantial performance degradation in time-varying fading channels, is analyzed. An equivalent spreading code formulation is derived based on the analogy of OFDM and code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Techniques as linear multiuser detection in CDMA systems are applied to suppress the ICI in OFDM systems. The performance of linear detection, measured using multiuser efficiency and asymptotic multiuser efficiency, is analyzed given the assumption of perfect channel state information (CSI), which serves as an upper bound for the performance of practical systems. For systems without CSI, time domain and frequency domain channel estimation based linear detectors are proposed. The performance gains and robustness of a linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) filter over a traditional filter (TF) and matched filter (MF) in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime are demonstrated with numerical simulation results.

헬멧형 뇌자도 장치로의 활용을 위한 Pb 초전도 차폐의 특성 (Characteristics of Superconductive Pb shield for a Whole Head MEG System)

  • We have investigated the characteristics of a superconductive Pb shield for hemispherical shape and plate to improving signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) of biomagnetism. We measured the shielding factor for the position of helmet shape Pb and for changing the distance from Pb surface. To make a uniform magnetic field, a $1.5m{\times}1.5m$ set of the helmholtz coils activated at several frequencies. The shielding factor of hemispherical shape Pb was from 20 to 57 dB and of Pb plate was about $6{\sim}26dB$ as a function of distance from the lead surface. The shielding factor was rapidly reduced as increasing the distance from Pb surface. The white noise of superconductive quantum interference device(SQUID) with a superconductive shield was about $12fT/Hz^{1/2}$ at 1 Hz, $7fT/Hz^{1/2}$ at 100 Hz. The white noise was more increased about two times than conventional SQUID system without Pb shielding. An auditory signal was measured by first order gradiometer and magnetometer with Pb superconductive shield and compared the SNR. The SQUID system with Pb shield had better performance at low frequency noise level.

Client Collaboration for Power and Interference Reduction in Wireless Cellular Communication

  • A client collaboration (CC) system is proposed for a user relay system. The proposed scheme focuses on the management of transmit power and leakage interference. In the proposed CC system, edge users transmit signals to the masters considered as user relays. The masters relay the signals of the edge users to the base station using the resource blocks (RBs) that are assigned to the edge users. The leakage interference and power consumption were analyzed in the CC system. In addition, an optimal master location problem was formulated based on the signal-to-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SLNR). Because the optimal master location problem is quite complex, a sub-optimal master location problem was proposed and a closed-form sub-optimal master location was obtained. The edge users generate smaller leakage interference and power consumption in the proposed CC system compared to the system without the CC. The numerical results showed that the edge users generate smaller leakage interference and power consumption in the proposed CC system compared to the system without the CC, and the average throughput increases.

  • 본 논문에서는 WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network) 주파수 간섭원에 의한 MIMO(Multi Input Multi Output)-OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network)의 성능 열화를 분석하기 위해 LabVIEW와 USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral)를 이용한 실시간 주파수 간섭 분석 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안한 시스템은 간섭원과 피간섭원을 각각 소프트웨어로 구현하고, USRP와 연결하여 실제 시스템과 유사한 2.4 GHz 대역의 송신신호를 발생시킨 후, 피간섭원의 수신과정에 잡음신호 및 간섭신호와 결합하여, 주파수 공동사용에 따른 MIMO 시스템의 BER(Bit Error Rate)을 분석하는 방식이다. 분석 결과, 이론값과 거의 일치하는 결과를 보여 제안한 시스템의 타당성을 입증하였다.

Scheduling and Feedback Reduction in Coordinated Networks

  • Base station coordination has received much attention as a means to reduce the inter-cell interference in cellular networks. However, this interference reducing ability comes at the expense of increased feedback, backhaul load and computational complexity. The degree of coordination is therefore limited in practice. In this paper, we explore the trade-off between capacity and feedback load in a cellular network with coordination clusters. Our main interest lies in a scenario with multiple fading users in each cell. The results indicate that a large fraction of the total gain can be achieved by a significant reduction in feedback. We also find an approximate expression for the distribution of the instantaneous signal to interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and propose a new effective scheduling algorithm.

  • 본 논문은 최대우도추정(Maximum Likelihood Estimation, MLE)을 적용한 선택적 합성법(Selective Combining, SC)의 수중 주파수 다이버시티 통신성능을 평가하였다. 수중 다중경로 주파수 선택적 채널에서 수신 신호의 지연확산에 따른 상쇄 간섭 페이딩(destructive interference fading)은 수중 음향 통신 시스템의 오류 증가와 신호대잡음비(Signal to Noise Ratio, SNR)변동성에 영향을 준다. SC의 결정 값 추출을 위한 MLE 적용 해상실험에서 SC 주파수 다이버시티와 MLE-SC 주파수 다이버시티 성능을 평가하였다. SC보다 MLE-SC를 통해 추출한 결정 값을 적용한 경우 상대적으로 낮은 BER(Bit Error Rate) 특성을 확인하였다.

Ultraviolet Light Sensor Based on an Azobenzene-polymer-capped Optical-fiber End

  • We propose a simple ultraviolet (UV) sensor consisting of a conventional single-mode optical fiber capped with an azobenzene-moiety-containing polymer. The UV light changes the dimensions of the azobenzene polymer, as well as the refractive index of the material. Incident light with a wavelength of 1550 nm was reflected at the fiber/polymer and polymer/air interfaces, and interference of the reflected beams resulted in spectral interference that shifted the wavelength by 0.78 nm at a UV input power of $2.5mW/cm^2$. The UV sensor's response to wavelength is nonlinear and stable. The response speed of the sensor is limited by detection noise, which can be improved by modifying the insertion loss of the UV sensor and the signal-to-noise ratio of the detection system. The proposed compact UV sensor is easy to fabricate, is not susceptible to electromagnetic interference, and only reacts to UV light.

Spectrum Sensing for Cognitive Radio based on RVM

  • In a complex geographical environment, communication quality of communication equipment is being seriously challenged. Secondary Users(SUs) must make the best possible use the idle spectrums that Primary Users(PUs) do not use and change spectrum frequently. Using the relevance vector machine(RVM) to establish a signal noise Ratio(SNR) Model for interference information and bit error rate(BER). Through the model and real-time interference information, the minimum channel SNR meeting the BER requirements of communication equipment can be predicted, and we can also calculate the minimum transmitted power. According to the simulation results, this method has better performance for selecting available channel and restraining interference.

Efficient Interference Control Technology for Vehicular Moving Networks

  • This paper proposes an efficient interference control scheme for vehicular moving networks. The features of the proposed scheme are as follows: radio resources are separated into two resource groups to avoid interference between the cellular and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) links; V2V links are able to share the same radio resources for an improvement in the resource efficiency; and vehicles can adaptively adjust their transmission power according to the interference among the V2V links (based on the distributed power control (DPC) scheme derived using the network utility maximization method). The DPC scheme, which is the main feature of the proposed scheme, can improve both the reliability and data rate of a V2V link. Simulation results show that the DPC scheme improves the average signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio of V2V links by more than 4 dB, and the sum data rate of the V2V links by 15% and 137% compared with conventional schemes.

모바일 환경하에서 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 보호 알고리즘 (Protection Algorithm of the Multimedia Contents in the Mobile Environment)

  • 본 논문에서는 모바일 환경하에서 모바일 컨텐츠를 보호하기 위해 CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) 기술을 적용한 디지털 워터마킹 알고리즘을 제안한다. 디지틸 워터마킹은 경로손실(pathloss), 다중경로 페이딩(multipath fading), 간섭(interference) 및 잡음(noise)이 존재하는 모바일 환경하에서 발생하는 에러에 강인하도록 설계되었다. 모바일 환경하에서 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 서비스할 경우, 모바일 컨텐츠의 저작권 보호에 적합한 워터마크의 구성 방법, 삽입 및 검출에 대한 알고리즘도 제안한다. 워터마크는 모바일 사용자의 정보를 이용해 구성하여 워터마킹의 요구조건인 비가시성(invisibility)과 외부 공격에 강인성(robustness)을 평가한다. 워터마크가 삽입된 모바일 컨텐츠의 PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio)이 90.31 dB이고 신호 처리와 잡음 공격에도 강인하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 특히, 무선 전송중에 발생하는 랜덤 잡음(randomn noise)을 극복할 수 있기 때문에 제안한 워터마킹 알고리즘은 모바일 환경하에서 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 보호에 적합하다.
