In this paper, using the Rec. ITU-R P.1546 explaining a propagation prediction model in the VHF and UHF bands, we propose the analytical methodology for calculating the service distance and field strength for analogue and digital TV receivers. From the derived formulation of the receiver field strength, some computation results are presented and discussed in terms of the equivalent level of service caused by analogue to digital TV conversion. The suggested method is also applicable to the analysis of frequency coordination or compatibility from unwanted signal in VHF and UHF bands.

A scratch tester was developed to evaluate the adhesive strength at interface between thin film and substrate(silicon wafer). Under force control, the scratch tester can measure the normal and the horizontal forces simultaneously as the probe tip of the equipment approaches to the interface between thin film and substrate of wafer. The capacity of each component of force sensor is 0.1 N ∼ 100 N. In addition, the tester can detect the signal of elastic wave from AE sensor(frequency range of 900 kHz) attached to the probe tip and evaluate the bonding strength of interface. Using the developed scratch tester. the feasibility test was performed to evaluate the adhesive strength of semiconductor wafer.

In this study, the friction welding experiment was performed by using the design of experiment. And the signal data acquired by acoustic emission sensor were analyzed to predict the tensile strength of friction welding part at friction welding process for AZ31 magnesium alloy. A dimensionless coefficient($\phi_{AE}$), which consisted in the square of AE rms and variance, was defined as the characteristic of friction welding and the prediction equation was obtained by using linear regression. As the result of analysis, it was seen that the correlation between predicted and measured values became very close and on-line prediction of the ensile strength was possible in friction welding part.
LPWAN(Low Power Wide Area Network) technology is M2M (Machine to Machine) networking technology for the Internet of Things. The technology is designed to support low-power, long-distance and low-speed communications that are typical of LoRaWAN(Long Range Wide Area Network). To exchange inter-object information using a LoRaWAN, the link performances for various environments must be known. however, active performance analysis research that is based on an empirical environment is nonexistent. Therefore, this paper empirically evaluates the performance of the LoRa (Long Range) link, a physical communication technology of the LoRaWAN for various variables that may affect the link quality in indoor and outdoor environments. To achieve this, a physical performance monitoring system was designed and implemented. A communication experiment environment was subsequently constructed based on the indoor and outdoor conditions. The SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio), RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication), and the PDR(Packet Delivery Ratio) were evaluated.
The present USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Networks) node deployment practices have many limitations in terms of positional connectivity. The aim of this research was to minimize a redundancy of USN route nodes, by integrating spatially weighted parameters such as visibility, proximity to cell center, road density, building density and cell overlapping ratio into a comprehensive GIS database. This spatially weighted approach made it possible to reduce the number of route nodes (11) required in the study site as compared to that of the grid network method (24). The field test for RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) indicates that the spatially weighted deployment could comply with the quality assurance standard for node connectivity, and that reduced route nodes do not show a significant degree of signal fluctuation for different site conditions. This study demonstrated that the spatially weighted deployment can be used to minimize a redundancy of USN route nodes in a routine manner, and the quantitative evidence removing a redundancy of USN route nodes could be utilized as major tools to ensure the strong signal in the USN, that is frequently encountered in real applications.

The received signal strengths according to the propagation distance between a transmitting shore station with a 53 m antenna hight and a receiving ship station with about 6m antenna hight from 700 m upto about 20 km are measured at ship's moving velocity of $5{\pm}1m/s$ using a single carrier signal at 150.0625MHz. In this paper, the path loss exponents at the propagation distance from 700 m to 20km are estimated via minimum-mean-square-error method using the measurements of the received signal strength, and the mean of the estimated path loss exponent become 3.79. The estimated propagation path loss exponents is similar to that calculated based on the field-strength values from 2 km to 20 km in Annex 2 of ITU-R P.1546-4, which is measuring results at maritime VHF at 100 MHz carrier frequency. Therefore, the estimated propagation path loss exponent shall be used as the expected path loss exponents for summer in costal area of South Sea of Korea.

Researches on indoor localization using the wireless sensor network have been actively carried out to be used for indoor area where GPS signal is not received. Computationally efficient WCL(Weighted Centroid Localization) algorithm is shown to perform relatively well. However, to get the best performance for WCL all the anchor nodes must send signal with power to cover 96% of the network. The fact that outside the transmission range of the fixed nodes drastic localization error occurs results in large mean error and deviation. Due to these problems the WCL algorithm is not easily applied for use in the real indoor environment. In this paper we propose SRS(Succesive Region Setting) algorithm which sequentially reduces the estimated location area using the signal strength from the anchor nodes. The proposed algorithm does not show significant performance degradation corresponding to transmission range of the anchor nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed SRS algorithm has mean localization error 5 times lower than that of the WCL under free space propagation environment.

This study aims to develop a wireless communication system for long-term monitoring of high-level radioactive waste disposal facilities. Conventional wired sensors can lead to a deterioration in buffer quality and management difficulties due to the use of cables for power supply and data transmission. This study proposes the adoption of a wireless communication system and compares the received signal strengths within bentonite using modules such as WiFi, ZigBee, and LoRa. Increases in dry density of bentonite and distance between transceivers led to reduced received signal strength. Additionally, using the low-frequency band exhibited less signal attenuation. Based on these findings, a conceptual design for a wireless network-based THM integrated sensor system was proposed. Results of this study can be used as foundational data for long-term monitoring of disposal facility.

The Global Positioning System is a navigation system that has been developed by the United States for military use. Currently, many countries, including the Republic of Korea, use GPS for civilian and military uses. However, as useful as it is, GPS is vulnerable to its Jamming signal, as the strength of the signal from satellites is very weak. In this paper, a novel jamming signal detection and cancellation method is proposed when a narrow-band jamming signal is included in the GPS received signal. At the GPS receiver, the received signal is transformed to a frequency domain sample by Fast Fourier Transform. In order to suppress the Spectral Leakage, the Blackman-Harris window is used. The proposed jamming signal cancellation algorithm will find the frequency sample with maximum power and null the maximum sample in addition to some lateral samples. If the GPS receiver is designed with FFT of size 128 to 512, it is shown that 42 samples are optimal to cancel the narrow-band jamming signal.
