  • This paper studied a method of estimating target information using a radar in wireless communication. Position information on the target can be estimated angle, distance and velocity. The velocity information can be estimated since the Doppler frequency is changed in the moving target. The signal incident on the receiving array antenna is multiplied by the delay time and the reference signal to represent the output signal. This output signal is estimated by applying FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) after calculating signal correlation through correlation integrator. Since the output signal must be calculated within the correlator, it should be processed with the Dwell time. The correlation signal of the correlation integrator outside this Dwell time is indicated by the velocity measurement error. The FFT is applied to the signal that has passed through the correlated integrator in order to estimate the distance of the signal. The Doppler resolution must be improved because the FFT estimates target information using the Doppler information. The Doppler resolution decreases with increasing the integration time. The velocity information estimation should have no spread of the velocity. As a result of the simulation, there was no spread of the target velocity in this study.

  • To analyze the dynamic acceleration characteristics, it is necessary to identify the acceleration model using some methods that can represent the dynamic properties well. In this sense, fractal methods were used for the verification of characteristics of an acceleration signal. To estimate and analyze the geometry of acceleration signal, a fractal interpolation and its analysis was introduced in this paper. The chaotic nature of acceleration signal was considered in fractal modeling. In this study the fractal signal modeling has brought a focus within the scope of the fractal interpolation and fractal dimension. And a new idea of fractal dimension has been introduced and discussed considering the damping ratio and amplitude for its dynamic properties of the signal. The fractal dimension of acceleration with respect to the scaling factor using fixed data points of 1000 points was calculated and discussed. The acceleration behaviors of this results show some different characteristics. And this fractal analysis can be applied to other signal analysis of several machining such as pendulum type grinding and milling which has many dynamic properties in the signal.

  • In this paper, we studied for modified bartlett method to estimate desired information signal. Constrained length of bartlett method is assigned as one, and estimate desired information signal to compensate for delay time. Modified bartlett method is an optimum direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation algorithm to apply delay time compensation to update optimum weight. The optimum weight is used linear constrained minimum variance method(LCMV). Through simulation, we are comparative analysis proposed algorithm and general Bartlett and MUSIC method. In desired signal estimation, condition simulation is an array antenna element numbers 6 or 9 and desired information signals number 3. We show the superior performance of the proposed algorithm relative to the existing method in estimation of desired information signal.

  • The Global Positioning System (GPS), which has various military and commercial applications, is designed to estimate the location of the specific user or object. In order to accurately estimate the location, GPS requires at least four satellite signals. The GPS receiver operates on extremely low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) environment and it may suffer from various interference signals with the extremely high power. In this paper, we introduce a blind adaptive receiver based on the modified despreader, which suppress interference signals and detect GPS signals of interest without requiring explicit angle-of-arrival (AOA) information. We, also, provide the mathematical analysis for the signal-to-interference and noise ratio (SINR) of the modified despeader beamformer output. A representative computer simulation example is presented to illustrate the interference suppression performance of the considered GPS receiver and mathematical analysis of the SINR.

  • Peaks (or Nulls) finding algorithms for Average Magnitude Difference Function (AMDF) of speech signal are proposed in this paper. Both AMDF and Autocorrelation Function (ACF) are widely used to estimate a pitch of speech signal. It is well known that the estimation of the fundamental requency (F0) for speech signal is not only important but also very difficult. In this paper, two algorithms, are exploited the characteristics of AMDF, are proposed. First, the proposed algorithm which has a Threshold value is applied to the local minima to detect a pitch period. The Other proposed algorithm to estimate a pitch period of speech signal is utilized the relationship between AMDF and ACF. The data in this paper, is recorded by using general commercial device, is composed of Korean emotion expression words. The recorded speech data are applied to two proposed algorithms and tested their performance.

  • A new algorithm is presented for adaptive notch filtering of narrow band or sine signals for embedded among broad band noise. The notch filter is implemented as a constrained infinite impulse response filter with a minimal number of parameters, Based on the recursive prediction error (RPE) method, the algorithm has the advantages of the fast convergence, accurate results and initial estimate of filter coefficient and its covariance is revealed. A convergence criterion is also developed. By using the information of the noise-to-signal power, the algorithm can self-adjust its initial filter coefficient estimate and its covariance to ensure convergence.

  • In this study, the algorithm which can estimate displacements from the acceleration data is developed. For proving the validity of this study, the calculated displacements are compared with the measured displacements through the forced vibration tests in the laboratory. So the sampling frequency and filtering range for the estimation of the displacements are proposed. Finally, these results are applied to estimate displacements from the acceleration data obtained from the real bridge.

  • Free radicals including reactive oxygen species (ROS) are important chemicals in the research area of biology, pharmaceutical, medical, and environmental science as well as human health risk assessment as they are highly involved in diverse metabolism and toxicity mechanisms through chemical reactions with various components of living bodies. Electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy is a powerful tool for detecting and quantifying those radicals in biological environments. In this work we observed the ESR signal of 2,2,6,6-Tetra-methyl piperidine 1-oxyl (TEMPO) in aqueous solution at various concentrations to estimate the uncertainty factors arising from the experimental conditions and signal treatment methods. As the sample position highly influences the signal intensity, dual ESR tube geometry (consists of a detachable sample tube and a position fixed external tube) was adopted. This type of measurement geometry allowed to get the relative uncertainty of signal intensity lower than 1% when triple measurements are averaged. Linear dependence of signal intensity on the TEMPO concentration, which is required for the quantification of unknown sample, could be obtained over a concentration range of ~103 by optimizing the signal treatment method depending on the concentration range.

  • A signal optimization model is proposed by applying the Cell-Transmission Model(CTM) as an embedded traffic flow model to estimate a system-optimal signal timing plan in a transportation network composed of signalized intersections. Beyond the existing signal-optimization models, the CTM provides appropriate theoretical and practical backgrounds to simulate oversaturation phenomena such as shockwave, queue length, and spillback. The model is formulated on the Mixed-Integer Programming(MIP) theory. The proposed model implies a system-optimal in a sense that traffic demand and signal system cooperate to minimize the traffic network cost: the demand departing from origins through route choice behavior until arriving at destinations and the signal system by calculating optimal signal timings considering the movement of these demand. The potential of model's practical application is demonstrated through a comparison study of two signal control strategies: optimal and fixed signal controls.
