  • Anionic small molecules are hard to penetrate the cell membranes because of their negative charges. Encapsulation of small molecules into liposome particles can provide target specific delivery of them. In our previous study, siRNA could be efficiently encapsulated into liposome particles using an asymmetric preparation method of liposomes. In this study, the same method was applied for encapsulation of small anionic fluorescent chemicals such as calcein and indocyanine green (ICG). More than 90% fluorescent chemicals were encapsulated in the asymmetric liposome particles (ALPs). No intracellular fluorescent signal was observed in the tumor cells treated with the unmodified calcein/ALPs and ICG/ALPs, whereas the surface modification with a cell-penetrating polyarginine peptide (R8 or R12) allows cellular uptake of the ALPs. The results demonstrate that the ALPs encapsulating small anionic drugs will be useful for target-specific delivery after modification of target-specific ligands.

  • This paper presents a new watermarking scheme to reduce the detection error probability through removal of local mean values of an original signal equivalently. At first, we show that the error probability is reduced by the removal of the local mean values. In the removal process, we are in need of a method that equivalently removes the local mean values without modification of the original signal since the process changes the original signal. The method is based on the principle that as the watermark with zero local mean values is embedded, the local mean values of the original signal is equivalently removed in detection of the watermark. The principle are analytically proven, and the superiority of the proposed method is verified by experiments for variety of watermarks.

  • In this paper, a Software Defined Radio (SDR) architecture was designed and implemented for rapid prototyping of GNSS receiver. The proposed SDR can receive various GNSS and direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signals without software modification by expanded input parameters containing information of the desired signal. Input parameters include code information, center frequency, message format, etc. To receive various signal by parameter controlling, a correlator, a data bit extractor and a receiver channel were designed considering the expanded input parameters. In navigation signal processing, pseudorange was measured based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and appropriate navigation message decoder was selected by message format of input parameter so that receiver position can be calculated even if SDR is set up various GNSS combination. To validate the proposed SDR, the software was implemented using C++, CUDA C based on GPU and USRP. Experimentation has confirmed that changing the input parameters allows GPS, GLONASS, and BDS satellite signals to be received. The precision of the position from implemented SDR were measured below 5 m (Circular Error Probability; CEP) for all scenarios. This means that the implemented SDR operated normally. The implemented SDR will be used in a variety of fields by allowing prototyping of various GNSS signal only by changing input parameters.

  • During the life cycle of plants, water deficit leads to an adverse effect on its growth and development. To increase the productivity of crops, overcoming such drought stress is one of the most important issues in the field of plant study. Among plant hormones, the phytohormone, abscisic acid (ABA) plays a crucial role in eliciting resistance to drought stress as well as in multiple developmental processes, such as seed germination, stomatal closure, and seedling growth. Therefore, further understanding of the ABA-mediated signal transduction pathway in plants is an effective strategy to generate drought-tolerant plants. Posttranslational modification, such as phosphorylation and ubiquitination, is an efficient mechanism for plants to acquire quick adaptation against environmental stress conditions since this process directly affects pre-existing signaling components by modulating protein activity and stability. Here, recent reports on ABA signaling are reviewed, especially focusing on ABA transport, perception, signaling, and posttranslational modification in ABA-mediated cellular responses. Also, we present future prospects on how the control of such a mechanism can be applied to generate useful agricultural crops.

  • Polypropylene-clay nanocomposites were studied by the modification of clay with amino silanes to introduce covalent bonds in nanocomposites, and prepared by melt-compounding with polypropylene, clay modified with amino silanes and maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene. The . .structure and surface properties of modified clay were determined by x-ray diffraction, infrared spectrum, and solid-state $^{29}Si$ nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum. The modification of clay with aminosilanes led to the increase of the silicate interlayers to about $19.8{\AA}$, the weakening effects of hydroxy group at $3650cm^{-1}$ and the signal of amine groups at -69 ppm proved that the modification had taken place.

  • Traffic Signal Evaluation HILS is a system designed to evaluate a traffic signal system, and has a function of driving that simulates a real environment using a simulator that simulates a real traffic signal environment and an LCS that simulates a traffic signal controller. This study simulates the function of the traffic signal controller and is designed for design the LCS which is connected to the center system and the traffic simulator (VISSIM). The design of the LCS program uses a portable python language, and the code is designed in two versions running on Windows in the PC environment and unning on embedded environment, with a slight modification of the code. In this study, we analyzed the limitations of using LCS on Windows in PC environment and confirmed the ease of simulation Linux in embedded environment at large capacity.

  • In this paper, we present a signal analysis environment with visual programming capability, which is called Signal Analysis and Visualization Environment( SAVE). The system allows a user to perform visually programmed analysis of signals and visualize the results. The visualization facility enables the user to compare original signals with processed ones arid also to display signals overlaid synchronously with the events extracted from the signals. The SAVE system has an extensible architecture: each signal processing algorithm is implemented as a separate building block object module, which can be freely added or removed from the SAVE system without any code modification. We describe the overall structure of the SAVE system and the building block objects, which provide the extensibility in collaboration with together. We illustrate some test runs in order to five a taste of how to use and where to use the system.

  • The simple imcroprocessor device was provided for the control of dissolved oxygen(DO) level. The DO analog signal output from fementer was used as a measurement variable and the agitation speed of fermenter was used as a manipulatio variable. Agitation speed was manipulated to maintain DO level above 10% of saturation condition during cell growth period with microprocessor. Since the experimental resultsshowed that the DO level was maintained above 10% and agitation speed was inverse proportional to DO level ithis simple control device can be used for the DO control of fermenter.

  • This paper describes an Electronically-controlled Power Steering system which is developed by the modification of a conventional power steering based on so called rotary valve technology. The steering effort is influenced by the electrohydraulic flow rate control of the pressurized oil to rotary valve. The vehicle speed and the steering angular velocity are used to calculate and output a signal to proportional flow rate control valve by the Electronic Control Unit. The improvement of the steering feel was satisfactory compared with that of the original conventional power steering.
