Detection and localization of a slow and quiet target in shallow water environments is a challenging problem for which it is well known that snapshot is deficient because of a fast and strong interferer. This paper presents waveguide interference filtering technique that mitigate strong interferer problems in adaptive matched field processing. MCM (multiple constraint method) based on NDC (null direction constraint) has been proposed for new spatial interferer filter. MCM-NDC using replica force a interferer component to be filtered through CSDM (cross-spectral density matrix). This filtering have an effect on sidelobe reduction and restoring of signal gain of a quiet target. This technique was applied to a simulation on Pekeris waveguide and vertical array data from MAPLE03 (matched acoustic properties and localization experiment) in the East Sea and was shown to improve SBNR (signal-to-background-and-noise ratio) over the standard MVDR (minimum-variance distortionless response) and NSP (null space projection) technique.

In this paper, the radiation properties of a Ka-band Von Karman radome are analyzed by using an IPO(Iterative PO) scheme. Since the operating frequency is very high, and the size of the considered radome is large, a numerical method cannot be directly applied to calculate the properties of the radome such as transmission loss, radome pattern, boresight error, etc. Hence, in this paper, an IPO scheme is used, which can efficiently consider the multiple interaction inside the radome. Also, the IPO scheme is based on the PO scheme, which is efficient and fast in a numerical point of view. The proposed scheme is verified based on Ku-band measurement data, and its feasibility for applicability to a higher frequency simulation is addressed through a simulation at the Ka-band.
When the current optical communication system is used for the DWDM, it raise the serious interference because an interval between the adjacent channels is narrow. The FBG filter for the DWDM is able to reduce the interferences between the adjacent channels. In this paper, therefore, we find the reflection spectrums for the three types of induced index changes, that is, uniform, Gaussian apodized, and raised-cosine apodized. From the obtained results in this paper, we can see that uniform FBG does not fit, and that the smaller the maximum induced index change ${\sigma}$ is and the larger the value of parameter C in the raised-cosine apodized FBG and G in the Gaussian apodized FBG are, the fitter they are on the narrow filter for DWDM. But, we can also see that the raised-cosine apodized FBG has more excellent property than the Gaussian apodized FBG because it has the narrower maximum reflection spectrum band and the lower sidelobes than the other.

Herein, several multibeam forming methods that can be applied to microwave wireless power transmission are presented. Because the conventional multibeam forming methods do not consider an active element pattern(AEP), an intended beam shape will contain a steering angle error when applied to an actual system. To solve this problem, a method of considering the average of the AEP and a method of considering all the AEPs by the modified Fourier series method have been proposed. We confirmed that the proposed method reduces the error with the intended beam shape in the multibeam formation. In addition, for the side lobe level(SLL) and null control, a method of multibeam forming by applying the superposition principle to the Dolph-Tschebyscheff method is proposed. We also confirmed that SLL control can be simultaneously achieved with the multibeam formation.

In this paper, we present a depth extraction method of integral imaging using correlation between elemental images with phase only filter. Integral imaging is a passive three-dimensional (3D) imaging system records ray information of 3D objects through lenslet array by 2D image sensor, and displays 3D images by using the similar lenslet array. 2D images by lenslet array have different perspectives. These images are referred to as elemental images. Since the correlation can be calculated between elemental images, the depth information of 3D objects can be extracted. To obtain high correaltion between elemental images effectively, in this paper, we use phase only filter. Using this high correlation, the corresponding pixels between elemental images can be found so that depth information can be extracted by computational reconstruction technique. In this paper, to prove our method, we carry out optical experiment and calculate Peak Sidelobe Ratio (PSR) as a correlation metric.

Array beamforming for anti-jamming means that jamming signals are superposed destructively, while superposing information signals constructively at a receiver. However, according to channel state variation, the anti-jamming performance of the beamforming can be degraded because of large beamwidth of the sidelobe and lower selectivity of the mainlobe. To mitigate this problem, we introduce a beamformed decoy signal which uses frequency band distinguished from the information signal to make the jammer concentrate its jamming power to a wrong target under limited feedback. In this paper, we show that the performance of the proposed scheme can approach that of optimal one with perfect feedback.

We have analyzed the performance of optical matched filters in the fiber-optic code division multiple access (FO-CDMA) system based on optical parallel coupler access encoder (PCAE) and parallel coupler access decoder (PCAD) by experiment. In previous studies, the performance evaluation of the FO-CDMA system using SCAE and SCAD was not sufficiently accurate because they analyzed system performance only considering the first order signals. Since optical SCAE and SCAD intrinsically have high order signals of various patterns as the number of coupler increases, they change auto- and cross-correlation intensities. Thus, it is necessary to investigate properties of the PCAE and PCAD so that we may analyze the exact performance of system. In this paper, it is found that the peak to sidelobe ratio using the PCAE and PCAD increases as $\alpha$ (coupling coefficient) value increases. Also, we found that the proposed PCAE and PCAD are superior to SCAE and SCAD in performance improvement.

Conventional ultrasonic flaw detection system uses a large amplitude narrow pulse to excite a transducer. However, these systems are limited in pulse energy. An excessively large amplitude causes a dielectric breakage of the transducer, and an excessively long pulse causes decrease of the resolution. Using the pulse compression, a long pulse of pseudorandom signal can be used without sacrificing resolution by signal correlation. In the present work, the pulse compression technique was implemented into an ultrasonic system. Golay code was used as a pseudorandom signal in this system, since pair sum of autocorrelations has no sidelobe. The equivalent input pulse of the Golay code was derived to analyze the pulse compression system. Throughout the experiment, the pulse compression technique has demonstrated for its improved SNR(signal to noise ratio) by reducing the system's white noise. And the experimental data also indicated that the SNR enhancement was propotional to the square root of the code length used. The technique seems to perform particularly well with highly energy-absorbent materials such as polymers, plastics and rubbers.

Gregorian offset dual-shaped reflector antennas have been widely used in the satellite communication systems for their high gain and low sidelobe characteristics. However, in this paper, it is designed as the CATR(Compact Antenna Test Range) reflector system, and its near-field characteristics are investigated. The CATR facility needs to provide an uniform plane wave with the minimum amplitude and phase ripple and the low cross polarization to the test region. Therefore, the reflector near-field patterns are calculated and presented with the variations of the aperture power distribution, the feed horn pattern, and the distance from the aperture to the test zone. Also, the offset dual-shaped reflector is fabricated at 30 GHz, and its near-field patterns are measured. The measured results are in good agreement with the calculated results. From theses results, we confirm that the designed offset dual-shaped reflector can be used as the reflector system for the compact antenna test range.
An array often has faulty elements in real operation. The faulty elements, producing no output or highly reduced gain than other normal elements, cause an elevated sidelobe level and fail to reject the interference signals in an adaptive beamformer. In this paper we have presented the beamforming algorithm for arrays with faulty elements. In the ideal case, an autocorrelation matrix computed from array output data is the toeplitz. However, the inverse of the autocorrelation matrix computed from array with faulty elements can not be obtained due to deficient values of matrix. To overcome this problem, an adaptive beamforming algorithm using the average values of the diagonal terms of matrix is proposed. The computer simulations have been performed to study the performance of the presented method. We have been able to solve the degrees-of-freedom problem that is the drawback of the previous subaperture processing technique.
