Short-range wireless communication systems are expanding at rapid rate, finding application in offices and homes. Development of wireless local network is accompanied by steady increase in the demand for ever higher data rates. This in turn entails the necessity to develop communication systems which operate at higher frequencies. It can be expected that short-rage wireless communication networks will soon push towards the THz frequency range. We use a 3D ray-launching for analysis of propagation environments at the indoor fixtures. We extended the approach from the modeling of the reflectivity of optically thick, smooth building materials at THz frequencies to materials with a rough surface. The simulation result of propagation environment is similar to average received power of reference paper. The RMS delay spread was calculated to be 9.11 ns in a room size of $6m(L){\times}5m(W){\times}2.5m(H)$ for the concrete plaster.

In this paper, we analyze the performance of MAC (Media Access Control) layer in DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication). It will be widely applied for ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) services; for example ETC (Electric Toll Control), BIS (Bus Information System) etc., needed to small packet size. But If ITS service is evolving to advance ITS, ADIS (Advanced Driver Information Systems) and AVHS (Advanced Vehicle Highway System) etc, be needed larger packet size. In the future, it may offer more various services such as traffic information, collection, and multimedia information. There are two kind of physical media, IR(Infrared) and RF(Radio frequency). And each system has their own protocol that is adaptive in special characteristics of physical medium for using efficiently limited radio resources. In this paper, we analyze the special characteristics of each system. And we study practical use of some related services expected to be used in the near future, by analyzing the transmission efficiency in each DSRC system.

In this farer, An ADSRC(Advanced Dedicated Short Range Communication) packet communication system developed by ETRI is introduced. The ADSRC system has been developed to provide high-speed, short-range wireless racket communication in roadside environment for mobile office services. The requirements of the ADSRC system for mobile office services and the system design specification to meet them with regard to mobile of nce environment are discussed. The ADSRC packet communication systems consist of the MAC(Medium Access Control) Processor block the OFDM() modem block and the RF block. The MAC processor block handles medium access control. The OFDM modem transmits data packets at up to 24Mbps adaptively and recovers the data from RF block. The ADSRC packet communication system architecture is described.

ITS(Intelligent Transportation System) implementing information collection services and information support services for cars of moving fast needs a communication system of special aim such as RF-DSRC(Radio Frequency Dedicated Short Range Communication). Before RSE(Road Side Equipment) and OBE(On-Board Equipment) will be able to communicate RF-DSRC, OBE first have to request Link Initialization Access using ACTC(Activation Channel) in allocated ACTS(Activation Slot) by Slotted ALOHA. Even though Link Initialization Access is a important element to decide performance of communication system, optimal mathematic modeling study of Link Initialization Access which is adapted RF-DSRC characteristics is not enoush. So, in this paper, we propose mathematical modeling about Link Initialization Access of RF-DSRC. And then we computed Link Initialization Access probability defining offer load(G) which is adapted RF-DSRC characteristics for analyzing performance of modeling.

Safety related to electric field exposure for the personnel of high voltage power plant and substation is of importance. To analyze the induced current influencing on human body in this paper, we calculate directly capacitance in three dimension which is complex and time consuming, as not to separate the voltage source and the induced object using a effective modeling technique. The proposed algorithm in this paper has been applied to 765 kV high voltage transmission line to evaluate human hazard for the induced current through the case study. As the results, the short circuit current of human body has been identified in the range of 0.3 mA to 6.8 mA. Closing to transmission line, this range of short current can exceed 5 mA that ANSI recommended let-go current. Therefore, it is necessary to countermeasure such as putting on conductive clothing in live-line maintenance of transmission line.
While extensive efforts have been made in the past to develop finite element models (FEMs) for concrete-filled steel tubular columns (CFSTCs), these models may not be suitable to be used in some cases, especially in view of the utilisation of high strength steel and high strength concrete. A method is presented herein to predict the complete stress-strain curve of concrete subjected to tri-axial compressive stresses caused by axial load coupled with lateral pressure due to the confinement action in square and rectangular CFSTCs with normal and high strength materials. To evaluate the lateral pressure exerted on the concrete in square and rectangular shaped columns, an accurately developed FEM which incorporates the effects of initial local imperfections and residual stresses using the commercial program ABAQUS is adopted. Subsequently, an extensive parametric study is conducted herein to propose an empirical equation for the maximum average lateral pressure, which depends on the material and geometric properties of the columns. The analysis parameters include the concrete compressive strength ($f^{\prime}_c=20-110N/mm^2$), steel yield strength ($f_y=220-850N/mm^2$), width-to-thickness (B/t) ratios in the range of 15-52, as well as the length-to-width (L/B) ratios in the range of 2-4. The predictions of the behaviour, ultimate axial strengths, and failure modes are compared with the available experimental results to verify the accuracy of the models developed. Furthermore, a design model is proposed for short square and rectangular CFSTCs. Additionally, comparisons with the prediction of axial load capacity by using the proposed design model, Australian Standard and Eurocode 4 code provisions for box composite columns are carried out.
The effect of Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit-A (AMSU-A) observations on the short-range forecast in East Asia (EA) was investigated for the Northern Hemispheric (NH) summer and winter months, using the Forecast Sensitivity to Observations (FSO) method. For both periods, the contribution of radiosonde (TEMP) to the EA forecast was largest, followed by AIRCRAFT, AMSU-A, Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI), and the atmospheric motion vector of Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) or Multi-functional Transport Satellite (MTSAT). The contribution of AMSU-A sensor was largely originated from the NOAA 19, NOAA 18, and MetOp-A (NOAA 19 and 18) satellites in the NH summer (winter). The contribution of AMSU-A sensor on the MetOp-A (NOAA 18 and 19) satellites was large at 00 and 12 UTC (06 and 18 UTC) analysis times, which was associated with the scanning track of four satellites. The MetOp-A provided the radiance data over the Korea Peninsula in the morning (08:00~11:30 LST), which was important to the morning forecast. In the NH summer, the channel 5 observations on MetOp-A, NOAA 18, 19 along the seaside (along the ridge of the subtropical high) increased (decreased) the forecast error slightly (largely). In the NH winter, the channel 8 observations on NOAA 18 (NOAA 15 and MetOp-A) over the Eastern China (Tibetan Plateau) decreased (increased) the forecast error. The FSO provides useful information on the effect of each AMSU-A sensor on the EA forecasts, which leads guidance to better use of AMSU-A observations for EA regional numerical weather prediction.
Purpose: Frequency of sesamoid bone on hallucal interphalangeal joint has been described to be low probability in orthopaedic and anatomical literature. We have, however, experienced two cases of interphalangeal joint dislocation giving difficulty to usual manipulative reduction because of presence of sesamoid bone recently. In order to ascertain existence of sesamoid bone on interphalangeal joint of hallux in Korean adults, radiological study have been performed with feet of patients Materials and Methods: Between May 2003 and October 2006, 974 patients with 1098 radiographs of feet which were reached skeletal maturity over 18-year-old were examined. Unilateral or bilateral anteroposterior, lateral and oblique radiographs were observed by one same person and presence was recorded if there was sesamoid in films. Distance of long and short axes were measured in lateral view and cases of two sesamoids in interphalangeal joint were recorded. Statistical differences between left and right side or between men and women were evaluated by chi-square test. Results: Frequency of sesamoid was 980 cases (89.3%) and no occurrence in 118 cases (10.7%). Two sesamoids were observed in 3 cases. Average distance of long axis was 4.9 mm (range, 0.5-11.4) and average distance of short axis was 3.5 mm (range, 0.3-9.3). Unilateral sesamoid was observed in 7 patients (5.6%), bilateral absence was 7 patients (5.6%) and bilateral sesamoids in 110 patients (88.8%) out of 124 patients who took bilateral feet radiographs. Men has less frequency than women significantly (p=0.014) while there was no significant difference in frequency according to side(p>0.05). Conclusion: Sesamoid bone was seen in 980 feet (89.3%) out of 1098 normal Korean radiological studies of feet. We report 3 cases of two seamoids which was extremely rarely reported in literature. Korean frequency is similar with Japanese, but much higher than Caucasians and black Africans.
Dedicated Short Range Communications(DSRC) is a block of spectrum in the 5.8GHz band. DSRC is the useful technology of ITS Service. Japan operates ETCS, VICS by DSRC technology and DSRC technology is used ETCS Standard in Korea. There are many kind of utilization of DSRC in ITS. This is a study for traffic information service and collection with DSRC. Traffic management server service traffic information to driving vehicle by RSE(Road Side Equipment). Ultrasonic guided waves were explored to apply them to the long range inspection of polyethylene coated steel gas pipes. The steel pipes have such dimensions as 190.7mm inside diameter and 5.3mm thickness. The outside surface of the pipe is coated by a polyethylene layer of $1.9{\pm}0.5mm$ thickness. Non-axisymmetric guided waves were excited on the outside surface of the polyethylene coated pipe by using a 0.5MHz transducer with a variable angle shoe. Frequency and phase velocity tuning was used to find optimum guided wave modes for the inspection. The dispersive characteristics of the modes were analyzed in time-frequency representation obtained by short time Fourier transforms. Sample results were presented for artificial defects such as wall thinning and hole.
