As the density of VLSI increases, the conventional logic testing is not sufficient to completely detect the new faults generated in design and fabrication processing. Recently, IDDQ testing becomes very attractive since it can overcome the limitations of logic testing. In this paper, G-ATPG (gyeongsang automatic test pattern genrator) is designed which is able to be adapted to IDDQ testing for combinational CMOS VLSI. In G-ATPG, stuck-at, transistor stuck-on, GOS (gate oxide short)or bridging faults which can occur within priitive gate or XOR is modelled to primitive fault patterns and the concept of a fault-sensitizing gate is used to simulate only gates that need to sensitize the faulty gate because IDDQ test does not require the process of fault propagation. Primitive fault patterns are graded to reduce CPU time for the gates in a circuit whenever a test pattern is generated. the simulation results in bench mark circuits show that CPU time and fault coverage are enhanced more than the conventional ATPG using IDDQ test.
According to 2013 fire statistical yearbook in the National Emergency Management Agency, the main cause of an electrical fire are classified to short circuit fault, overload fault, electric leakage, partial disconnection, and joint/contact badness. The occurrence factor of fire is electric arc or spark accompanied with electrical faults. Residual Current Protective Devices(RCDs) of high sensitivity type used at single phase (220V) cut off earth leakage and overload but the RCDs can not cut off electric arc or spark to be a main cause of electrical fire. To be improved on such problem, this thesis is proposed to a auxiliary control device for RCD cut off electric arc or spark.
A high energy arcing fault event occurred in the medium-voltage (13.8 kV and 4.16 kV) metalclad switchgears in a nuclear power plant not only affecting switchgear but also connected equipment due to the arc energy. The high energy arcing fault also causes a fire that influences the safety function of the unit. Therefore, from the safety point of view, it is necessary to evaluate the influences of high energy arcing fault events on the safety functions of nuclear power plants. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate the characteristics of high energy arcing faults and propose a high energy arcing fault mitigation scheme for medium voltage networks in nuclear power plants.
Test methodology is diversity by devices and the number of test pattern is tremendous because the digital circuit includes TTL and CMOS family ICs as well as high density devices such as ROM and RAM. Accordingly, the quick and effective test strategy is required to enhance the test productivity. This paper proposes the test strategy which is able to be applied efficiently to the diversity devices on the digital circuit board by analyzing the structure and characteristic of the digital device. Especially, this test strategy detects the faulted digital device or the faulted digital circuit on the digital board using SSA(Serial Signature Analysis) technique based on the polynomial division theory The SSA technique identifies the faults by comparing the reminder from good device with reminder from the tested device. At this time, the reminder is obtained by enforcing the data stream obtained from output pins of the tested device on the LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Register) representing the characteristic equation. Also, the method to obtain the optimal signature analysis circuit is explained by furnishing the short bit input streams to the long bit input streams to the LFSR having 8, 12, 16, 20bit input/output pins and by analyzing the occurring probability of error which is impossible to detect. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed test strategy is verified by simulating the stuck at 1 errors or stuck at 0 errors for several devices on typical 8051 digital board.
We fabricated and tested a resistive type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) of three-phase 6.6 $kV_{rms}/200 A_{rms}$ rating based on YBCO thin films grown on sapphire substrates with a diameter of 4 inches, Short circuit tests were carried out at a accredited test facility for single line-to- ground faults, phase-to-phase faults and three-phase faults, Each phase of the SFCL was composed of 8${\times}$6 elements connected in series and parallel respectively. Each element was designed to have the rated voltage of 600 $V_{rms}$. A NiCr shunt resistor of 23 Ω was connected to each element for simultaneous quenches. Firstly, single phase-to-ground fault tests were carried out. The SFCL successfully developed the impedance in the circuit within 0.12 msec after fault and controlled the fault current of 10 $kA_{rms} below 816 A_{peak}$ at the first half cycle. In addition, in case of phase-to-phase fault and three- phase fault test. simultaneous quenches among the SFCLs of the phases successfully accomplished. In conclusion. the SFCL showed excellent performance of current limitation upon fault and stable operation regardless of the amplitude of fault currents.
Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) are typically used to provide over current protection for electrical safety caused by short circuit faults and overloads in indoor low voltage power systems. The MCCB automatically connects and disconnects loads from the electrical source when the current reaches a value and duration that will cause an excessive. However, the MCCB sometimes is not interrupted due to a malfunction, nuisance tripping, or in a fire. Ensuring electrical safety is very important in a indoor low voltage power system. This paper presents the operating characteristics of MCCBs according to a temperature rise from room temperature to 160 degrees Celsius delivered by a radiant panel heater. The ABS 54c(rated current: 30A) of the hydraulic magnetic trip type was used in the experiments. The signals of temperature, voltage, and current were measured using the high accuracy Signal Conditioning Extensions for Instrumentation (SCXI) measurement system with the LabVIEW program manufactured by National Instruments. The operating characteristics were measured as functions of current amplitude and ramp-up rate. The MCCB tripping time decreased as a result of increasing current amplitude and ramp-up rate under a temperature rise condition, because the temperature and level of the current are directly proportional to the tripping time. Additionally, an instantaneous operation was observed after 8 times of the rated current, and the MCCB began to melt a surface temperature of around 300 degrees Celsius of. The experimental results coincided well with the operating curve.
This study has looked into ways to cut the power supply by predicting electrical fire that may occur in low-voltage cable, which is most frequently used in industrial settings and households. In addition, we have designed a system that cuts off electricity to prevent the fire upon occurrence of events that may cause electrical fire, including short circuit, tracking and contact failure. A lot of previous researches have designed arc suppressors built in analog circuit, which left much to be desired such as difficulty in remote control and inability to identify the location of arc suppressor when it is activated. To address these issues, the study seeks to develop an arc suppressor using micom and to verify its performance through simulations designed to detect arc faults.
The major causes of electrical fire in low-voltage distribution lines are classified into short-circuit fault, overload fault, electric leakage, and electric contact failure. The special principal factor of the fire is electric arc or spark accompanied with such electric faults. This paper studies the development of an electric fire prevention system with detection and alarm of that in case of parallel arc fault occurrence in low-voltage distribution lines. The proposed system is designed on algorithm sensing the instantaneous voltage drop of line voltage at arc fault occurrence. The proposed detector has characteristics of high-speed operation responsibility and superior system reliability from composition using a large number of semiconductor devices. A new sensing control method that shows the detection of parallel arc fault is sensed to ripple voltage drop through a diode bridge full-wave rectifier at electrical accident occurrence. Some experimental tests of the proposed system also confirm the practicality and validity of the analytical results.
