The paper proposes a knowledge innovation performance model by the dynamic data envelopment analysis with slacks-based measure approach for evaluating the effectiveness of 30 regional knowledge innovation activities in China from 2010 to 2016. In recent years, China has paid more attention to knowledge innovation activities, as central and local governments have pushed on with their innovation projects by lots of investment whatever the difficulties may be. Decision-maker is usually interested in judge its knowledge innovation performance relative to target benchmark by exploring whether one provincial administration region performs better among others and/or if the growth of economy will be benefited greatly by the knowledge innovation activities. To acquire the managerial insight about this issue from a comprehensively designed performance evaluation model, knowledge innovation activity is conceptualized as an intertemporal production process. Invention patent and regional gross product are imposed on desirable outputs, highlighting the need for knowledge economy. The empirical result shows that knowledge innovation has a positive effect on economic development. At the same time, decision-maker should be interest in the economic effect of patents' type and quality. The government should then encourage new technical applications with greater commercial value from a market-oriented perspective, in order to benefit the most from the innovation process in the short-run.
Korea is one of the countries which have a remarkable record of high and sustained economic growth. However, as the national economy has continued to grow and the industrial structure has become increasingly advanced, the amount of wastes being generated has been rapidly on the rise. recycling wastes to cope with the environmental problems caused by wastes has become an increasingly important policy issue in developing countries such as Korea, as well as in developed countries. This situation demands that researchers provide policy-makers with available and responsible information regarding the effect of the recycling industry in the public sector. This study employs input-output (I-O) analysis to examine the effect of public sector recycling industry in the national economy, using a specific application to Korea. The paper, therefore, has two major goals. The first is the development of a static I-O framework for looking into the effect of public sector recycling industry in the short run. The second goal is obtaining at least a preliminary indication of the effect of the recycling industry- in public sector. Moreover, we discuss the role of a public firm that established with an objective of promoting and facilitating the reutilization of recyclable wastes. The overall results indicate that the recycling utilities may have a significant influence on the standard of living and industrial production.
Competitive and reliable maritime transport services benefit the economy as a whole, and are key efficiency factors for the production of both goods and services. Although maritime transport sector is very liberalized compared to many other service sectors, certain obstacles must be overcome before full liberalization of the maritime transport can be realized. Particularly, maritime transport services in Northeast Asia are regulated by a complicated and outdated system. To remove these barkers two approaches can be used: a regional trading arrangement approach and a multilateral approach via WTO. However, multilateral efforts are not likely to be successful in achieving any concrete progress towards maritime transport liberalization in the short- to medium-term in Northeast Asia. Consequently, it may be the best to take the following two progressive approaches and to make them work towards liberalization of the maritime transport market: a bilateral approach and a trilateral approach. A gradual process of liberalization would expand the market, help operators achieve economies of scale, promote the international division of labor and specialization, enhance the effective management of shipping services, and promote the long-term interests and welfare of the user by improving service quality and diversifying services. A liberalized and integrated maritime transport market in Northeast Asia should achieve both of these long-run policy objectives by benefiting both the transport service users and the transport service providers. In order to move the maritime transport liberalization programs as quickly as possible, it is desirable to establish a "Regional Maritime Transport Liberalization Committee." We suggest it to be a Tripartite (China, Japan and Korea) Committee initially, which can later expand its membership to include other Northeast Asian countries.
It is a common and prevailing Construction that recent environmental problems such as earth's warmer climate and depletion of ozone layers can never be solved by the efforts of any one nation. That is why the international conventions have been held more often lately in order to discuss the matter of environment protection and there has been increased tendency of using economic activities of any nation especially their international trades as means for achieving the purpose of environment protection. Furthermore, there is an ample possibility for the advanced countries to use the regulatory restrictions for environment protection as an another measure of none-tariff barrier against countries including Korea which has high dependence on international trade with not very high technological capability of environment protection. Some of the developed countries have recently moved toward the creation of a new system of international regulatory measures on world trade in the name of Environment Protection. They Plan to impose strict control over the process and technology of production of good they are importing from other country. However, ever though the international regulatory measures, in a short term, could play a negative role on our trade capability, they could, in the long run, also play a role of helping hands if we usefully work out positive countermeasures as a result of hand-working government supported by industry and all the society as a whole.
This study represents a first attempt in Korea to develop the simultaneous freight supply-demand model which considers the relationship between freight supply and demand. As the existing study was limited in one area, or the supply and the demand was separated and assumed not to affect each other, this study take it into consideration the fact that the demand affects supply and simultaneously vice versa. This approach allows us to diagnose a policy carried on and helps us to make a resonable alternative for the effectiveness of freight transportation system. To find a relationship between them, we use a method of econometrics. a structural equation theory and two stage least-squares(2SLS) estimation technique, to get rid of bias which involves two successive applications of OLS. Based on the domestic freight data, this study consider as explanatory variables a number of population(P), industry(IN), the amount of production of the mining and manufacturing industries(MMI), the rate of the effectiveness of freight capacity(LE) and the distance of an empty carriage operation(VC). This study describes well the simultaneous process of freight supply-demand system in that the increase of VC from the decrease of VC raises the cargo capacity and cargo capacity also augments VC. By the way. it is analyzed that the increment of VC due to the increase of the cargo capacity is larger than the reduction of VC owing to the increase of the quantify of goods. Therefore an alternative policy is needed in a short and long run point of view. That is to say, to promote the effectiveness of the freight transportation system, a short term supply control and a long run logistic infrastructure are urgent based on the restoration of market economy by successive deregulation. So we are able to conclude that gradual deregulation is more desirable to build effective freight market.

The purpose of this study is to investigate price transmissions between wholesale and retail markets regarding Jeju tangerines by employing co-integration analysis and vector error correction model. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, the long-run equilibrium relationship was found among wholesale and retail markets in time series for level by distribution channel. Second, a short-run causality relationship was observed between wholesale and retail markets. Third, the long-run causality relationship between wholesale market and retail markets was found bidirectional and feedback effect. These results imply that the wholesale price performs a central role in establishing price in the tangerine market, and the wholesale market influences tangerine price. In conclusion, for the development of a competitive tangerine industry, it is necessary to aggressively promote the policy of supply and demand control of tangerine production through organizing producers.
This study investigates the export behavior of port of Pyeongtaek-Dangjin and Daesan. The monthly data cover the period from January 2002 to December 2012. This paper tests whether the exchange rate and the industrial production are stationary or not, rejecting the null hypothesis of a unit root in each of the level variables and of a unit root for the residuals from the cointegration at the 5 percent significance level. The error-correction model is estimated to find that Daesan port is faster than Pyeongtaek-Dangjin in adjusting the short-run disequilibrium. This paper finds that the exchange rate coefficient of Daesan port is higher than that of Pyeongtaek-Dangjin port, while the industrial production coefficient of the former is much smaller than that of the latter. The industrial production coefficient is, however, much higher than the exchange rate coefficient in both ports. The rolling regression shows that the influence of exchange rate and industrial production tends to increase in Pyeongtaek-Dangjin port but tends to decrease in Daesan. The impulse response functions indicate that export volumes respond much greater to the positive shocks in industrial production than in exchange rate, and the exchange rate shock decays very fast, while the industrial production shock lasts very long.
The Product Carbon Footprint Labeling has been run for more than four years by the Ministry of Environment and there are number of products labeled by KEITI(Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute), as for declaring products with their carbon emission during life cycle stages. There are several categories for certifying products by the characteristics of usage. Building products which are applied to a building as combined components or elements, are classified as production goods which means that the products are chosen by a business, not by a final consumer. In this paper, current status of PCF labeling has been reviewed focused on building products and the characteristics of carbon emission by a kind of product such as interior products, window products, structural products, system products and others. Until Dec. 2013, 82 products has been labeled and it covers about 53% among labeled product goods by the certification. Among the labeled building products, interior products are main products. From the results of comparison, variations of emission amounts by products have been found and the cause of variation could be explained by the purpose and material properties of products. However, the exact reason for variations cannot be acquired because of lack of information and the short operation period of the certification program. Further studies and more products are needed to be studied and analyzed focused on the emission characteristic by each product and to suggest reduction technologies for sustainable building products.

This paper analyses the effects of the increase of logistics outsourcing on the economy which are largely classified into three parts. The firm level and industry level are two among them which will be summarized below. The another is consumers level. On the fm level, the logistics outsourcing of a manufacturing firm not only helps to increase the efficiency of itself and but also confront the competitive environments by weakening the entry barriers, i.e., the emergence of contestable market. The reasons why the efficiency of the firm enhances are also largely divided into two parts. One is due to the reduction of inventory cost by replacing it by the information cost resulting from internet use. The other is owing to reducing the life cycle of production process by the emergence of virtual enterprises which are located in one point in De process of supply chain management. The weakening of entry barriers is directly affected by the drastic increase of internet users in twofold reasons: one is based on the restricted competitive characteristics due to the long-term transaction relationship between logistics providers and the companies who offer logistics services and the other, due to the weakening of the restriction of space and time. The effect of industry level is due to the transition of traditional to virtual vertical integration system The firms corresponding to a connection point in the process of supply chain management would try to realize both the scale of economy and the scope of economy for strengthening the competitiveness. We indicated above the emergence of contestable market however, it is a short-term phenomenon and result in the oligopoly market due to the entry barriers in the long-run sense.
Although Korea is short of capital technology, and natural resources, she has achieved an outstanding progress by the export-drive policies by Korean government and the creative endeavor of Korean firms. As a result of that, Korean economy and enterprises are in the same file of newly industrialized countries and Korea is ready for an economic take-off as a developed country. But in the early 1980s, each country strengthens protective trade theory and resources nationalism, and this has a great influence on the field of international trade environment. In spite of that, to continue the same high development as that of the past. Korea must try to secure and find export markets, solve trade barriers, make sure of the long-term security of resources, develop technology, and strengthen economic cooperations. To satisfy these desires by 2000s, we must try to make Korean enterprises have the global competitive power and them grow strongly among world wide firm through capital and technology accumulated during the passed years, and to do so, there must be a foreign production and marketing management, too, this can be achieved only through foreign overseas direct investment. This investment has various forms, to say, verifical integrated, horizontal integrated. conglomerate integrated forms, and the amount of investment in each country from 18 century to today reaches 500 billion dollars. This investment is done by strategic, behavioral economic, and financial motives. So I am going to approach the fields of like these; in spite of the differences among political, economical, caltural, and social systems, and many risk compared with domestic enterprises, why do Korean firms witsh to transfer the productive facilities to overseas countries and run them there? What is the comparative advantage of foreign direct investment compared with domestic investment ?. why is the factor of comparative advantage transferred through foreign direct investment?, what is the motive of foreign overseas direct investment?, and last the ownership-specific factors and the theory of internalization, and the location specific factors were analysed chiefly. But in consideration of the given condition in Korea, Korean overseas direct investment must be propelled rationally on the basis of the above mentioned theory.
