콘포머 기반 한국어 음성인식 (A Korean speech recognition based on conformer)

  • 본 논문에서는 콘포머 기반 한국어 음성인식 시스템을 제안한다. 콘포머는 트랜스포머 모델에 콘볼루션신경망(Convolution Neural Network, CNN) 기능을 보강한 구조이며 광역 정보를 잘 표현할 수 있는 트랜스포머와 지역 정보를 잘 표현할 수 있는 CNN을 결합한 신경망이다. 음성인식 기본 시스템으로 트랜스포모에 기반한 음성인식시스템을 개발하였으며 언어모델로는 Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)을 사용하였다. 콘포머 기반 음성인식시스템은 트랜스포머 대신에 콘포머를 사용하였고 언어모델로는 트랜스포머를 이용하였다. 성능 평가를 위해 AI-hub에 있는 Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute(ETRI) 음성코퍼스를 활용하였으며 트랜스포머 기반 음성인식 시스템은 오인식률이 11.8 %이 되었으며 콘포머 기반 음성인식시스템은 오인식률이 5.7 %가 되었다. AI-hub에 있는 다른 영역의 NHN다이퀘스트 음성 코퍼스를 추가해도 유사한 성능이 유지가 되어 제안된 콘포머 음성인식시스템의 유효성을 입증하였다.

Effect of iodine restriction on short-term changes in thyroid function in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism

  • Purpose: Elevated iodine intake is related to a higher prevalence of subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH). We investigated the short-term effect of dietary iodine restriction on thyroid function in patients with SCH with high iodine intakes. Methods: The iodine levels in 64 SCH patients with serum TSH levels from 4.0 to 10.0 mIU/L and normal serum fT4 levels (n = 64) were assessed using 24-hour urine iodine test results and iodine intake levels calculated using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Dietary iodine restriction was not recommended for patients with an iodine intake in the normal range (group A, n = 13), but seaweed restriction was recommended for patients with high iodine intakes (group B, n = 33). Thyroid functions and iodine levels were rechecked after three months. Another eighteen patients were prescribed thyroid hormone replacement therapy according to clinical criteria. Results: Median baseline iodine intake for the 64 patients was 290.61 ㎍/day, and median 24-hour urine iodine was 33.65 µmol/g of creatinine. The major source of dietary iodine was seaweed, which accounted for 72.2% of median baseline intake. Urine iodine and calculated iodine intake levels were positively correlated with serum TSH levels (p < 0.001 and p = 0.027, respectively), and calculated iodine intakes were significantly correlated with urine iodine levels (p = 0.001). In group B, iodine restriction significantly decreased urine iodine (p = 0.042) and TSH levels (p = 0.004), and conversion to euthyroid status was achieved in 16 of the 33 patients (48.5%). Conclusion: Iodine intake and urine iodine levels are correlated with thyroid function in SCH patients, and dietary iodine restriction can aid functional thyroid recovery in patients with elevated iodine intakes.

Underwater Navigation of AUVs Using Uncorrelated Measurement Error Model of USBL

  • This article presents a modeling method for the uncorrelated measurement error of the ultra-short baseline (USBL) acoustic positioning system for aiding navigation of underwater vehicles. The Mahalanobis distance (MD) and principal component analysis are applied to decorrelate the errors of USBL measurements, which are correlated in the x- and y-directions and vary according to the relative direction and distance between a reference station and the underwater vehicles. The proposed method can decouple the radial-direction error and angular direction error from each USBL measurement, where the former and latter are independent and dependent, respectively, of the distance between the reference station and the vehicle. With the decorrelation of the USBL errors along the trajectory of the vehicles in every time step, the proposed method can reduce the threshold of the outlier decision level. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation studies were performed with motion data obtained from a field experiment involving an autonomous underwater vehicle and USBL signals generated numerically by matching the specifications of a specific USBL with the data of a global positioning system. The simulations indicated that the navigation system is more robust in rejecting outliers of the USBL measurements than conventional ones. In addition, it was shown that the erroneous estimation of the navigation system after a long USBL blackout can converge to the true states using the MD of the USBL measurements. The navigation systems using the uncorrelated error model of the USBL, therefore, can effectively eliminate USBL outliers without loss of uncontaminated signals.

Modeling the long-term vegetation dynamics of a backbarrier salt marsh in the Danish Wadden Sea

  • Background: Over the past three decades, gradual eustatic sea-level rise has been considered a primary exogenous factor in the increased frequency of flooding and biological changes in several salt marshes. Under this paradigm, the potential importance of short-term events, such as ocean storminess, in coastal hydrology and ecology is underrepresented in the literature. In this study, a simulation was developed to evaluate the influence of wind waves driven by atmospheric oscillations on sedimentary and vegetation dynamics at the Skallingen salt marsh in southwestern Denmark. The model was built based on long-term data of mean sea level, sediment accretion, and plant species composition collected at the Skallingen salt marsh from 1933-2006. In the model, the submergence frequency (number yr-1) was estimated as a combined function of wind-driven high water level (HWL) events (> 80 cm Danish Ordnance Datum) affected by the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and changes in surface elevation (cm yr-1). Vegetation dynamics were represented as transitions between successional stages controlled by flooding effects. Two types of simulations were performed: (1) baseline modeling, which assumed no effect of wind-driven sea-level change, and (2) experimental modeling, which considered both normal tidal activity and wind-driven sea-level change. Results: Experimental modeling successfully represented the patterns of vegetation change observed in the field. It realistically simulated a retarded or retrogressive successional state dominated by early- to mid-successional species, despite a continuous increase in surface elevation at Skallingen. This situation is believed to be caused by an increase in extreme HWL events that cannot occur without meteorological ocean storms. In contrast, baseline modeling showed progressive succession towards the predominance of late-successional species, which was not the then-current state in the marsh. Conclusions: These findings support the hypothesis that variations in the NAO index toward its positive phase have increased storminess and wind tides on the North Sea surface (especially since the 1980s). This led to an increased frequency and duration of submergence and delayed ecological succession. Researchers should therefore employ a multitemporal perspective, recognizing the importance of short-term sea-level changes nested within long-term gradual trends.

ADHD에 대한 한방치료의 효과에 대한 후향적 관찰 연구 (Effects of Oriental Medical Treatment on ADHD - A retrospective clinical survey -)

  • Objectives: This case report aimed to evaluate whether oriental medical treatment was effective on ADHD through a records review of a local oriental medical clinic. Methods: We reviewed clinical charts of a local oriental medical clinic between December 2007 and September 2010 to select ADHD patients. Among those patients, for comparison before and after treatment, we selected cases which had at least twice Stroop test results and 2 months of treatment. Baseline, 3-month and 6-month Stroop test results were compared. Oriental medical treatment consisted of 2 months' herbal medicine, periodic acupuncture and exercise. Results: 1. 3-month data showed that subjects were 12 and improved word score and word-color score of Stroop test. 2. 6-month data showed that subjects were 20 and improved word score, color score, and word-color score of Stroop test. Conclusions: 1. Relatively short term herbal medication and exercise are effective on the word score and word-color score of the Stroop test. 2. After short term herbal medication, continuous exercise maintained the effects of short term oriental medical treatment. 3. We need to consider the balance of left and right as an important point of exercise, but further study is needed.

자율무인잠수정의 지형참조항법 연구 (Terrain Referenced Navigation for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles)

  • Underwater TRN (Underwater Terrain Referenced Navigation) estimates an underwater vehicle state by measuring a distance between the vehicle and undersea terrain, and comparing it with the known terrain database. TRN belongs to absolute navigation methods, which are used to compensate a drift error of dead reckoning measurements such as IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) or DVL (Doppler Velocity Log). However, underwater TRN is different to other absolute methods such as USBL (Ultra-Short Baseline) and LBL (Long Baseline), because TRN is independent of the external environment. As a magnetic-field-based navigation, TRN is a kind of geophysical navigation. This paper develops an EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) formulation for underwater TRN. A filter propagation part is composed by an inertial navigation system, and a filter update is executed with echo-sounder measurement. For large-initial-error cases, an adaptive EKF approach is also presented, to keep the filter be stable. At the end, simulation studies are given to verify the performance of the proposed TRN filter. With simplified sensor and terrain database models, the simulation results show that the underwater TRN could support conventional underwater navigation methods.

조석영향에 의한 망기반 GPS 측위 변화 분석 (Analysis of Tidal Effects on Network-based GPS Positioning)

  • 이중차분을 통한 GPS 측위시 이동국의 위치는 기준국에 대한 상대위치로 결정된다. 단기선의 경우는 조석에 의한 변위량의 상대적인 차이가 거의 없기 때문에 조석보정이 필요하지 않다. 하지만 기선의 길이가 길어지고 망 전체의 크기가 우리나라 전체 면적을 포함하는 경우 조석 변위량의 상대적인 차이로 인해 측위 오차가 발생할 수 있으므로 적절한 조석보정이 수반되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 규모에서 조석영향에 의해 발생할 수 있는 변위량을 분석하였다. 분석결과 GPS를 이용한 정밀측위시 조석영향에 대한 보정이 수행되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

무인잠수정의 위치추정을 위한 동적단기선 방식의 수중초음파 위치추적시스템 개발 (Development of Slowly moving Short Baseline Underwater Acoustic Positioning System for Estimating the Position of Unmanned Underwater Vehicle)

  • 본 논문에서는 수중에서 이동하는 무인잠수정 및 수중이동체의 위치를 측정하는 방법 중의 하나인 동적 단기선 방식(SBL)에 의한 무인잠수정의 위치측정에 대한 방법을 하이드로폰과 DAQ(Data Aquisition) 시스템을 이용하여 수조에서 테스트를 수행하였고, 실 해역에서의 실험을 실시하였다. 실험을 위해서 4개의 센서가 수조의 벽면에 고정이 되어 있으며, 이동체와 고정된 4개의 센서가 신호를 송수신함으로써 상호간의 위치추적이 가능하게 하는 시뮬레이션을 실시하였으며, 제안하는 SBL시스템과 장기선 방식(Long baseline)을 비교하기위한 시뮬레이션을 실시하여 두 시스템을 비교하였다. 측정된 신호는 DAQ 시스템을 이용하여 데이터를 취득하였고, Labview 프로그램을 이용하여 실시간으로 무인잠수정의 위치를 추정하였다. 위치추정에 사용된 알고리즘은 삼각측량법에 의한 방법을 사용하였으며, X, Y방향에 대해서는 비교적 오차가 적은 추정 결과를 나타내었으나 Z방향에 대하여서는 큰 오차를 보여 데이터로 사용할 수 가 없었다. 이는 수중이동체의 수심측정 센서를 이용하여 보완할 수 있을 것으로 본다. 향후 연구로는 위치추정 알고리즘을 보완하여 실제 선박 선저부에 센서가 부착되었을 경우에 대한 적용연구를 진행할 예정이며, 위치추정 알고리즘을 발전시켜 3차원에서의 정확한 위치 추적을 가능하게 할 예정이다.

  • This paper described the estimator and eliminator far three kinds of artifacts in electrocardiogram. The most efficient estimation of baseline drift could be obtain in the cubic spline interpolation method with the PQ and TP segment which are considered to be isoelectric, from the experimental results obtained from the applied 4 types of algorithms. The time loss and distortion could be avoided with the aid of detection criteria by checking if baseline drifts exist or not. The AIEF proposed in this paper was verified as having the best removal performance with less distortion in the QRS complex through the comparison of 5 proposed algorithms. furthermore, the AIEF are most suitable far the ECG analyzer which was only needed relatively short time data due to the fast conversion into the stable state. The proposed parabolic filter with 11 points width was identified as having the best performance for the elimination of muscle artifacts. Also we could obtain 99.7% detection accuracy of spike component and minimize the error identifying QRS complex as spike.

Attention-long short term memory 기반의 화자 임베딩과 I-vector를 결합한 원거리 및 잡음 환경에서의 화자 검증 알고리즘 (Speaker verification system combining attention-long short term memory based speaker embedding and I-vector in far-field and noisy environments)

  • 문장 종속 짧은 발화에서 문장 독립 긴 발화까지 다양한 환경에서 I-vector 특징에 기반을 둔 많은 연구가 수행되었다. 본 논문에서는 원거리 잡음 환경에서 녹음한 데이터에서 Probabilistic Linear Discriminant Analysis(PLDA)를 적용한 I-vector와 주의 집중 기법을 접목한 Long Short Term Memory(LSTM) 기반의 화자 임베딩을 추출하여 결합한 화자 검증 알고리즘을 소개한다. LSTM 모델의 Equal Error Rate(EER)이 15.52 %, Attention-LSTM 모델이 8.46 %로 7.06 % 성능이 향상되었다. 이로써 본 논문에서 제안한 기법이 임베딩을 휴리스틱 하게 정의하여 사용하는 기존 추출방법의 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 것을 확인하였다. PLDA를 적용한 I-vector의 EER이 6.18 %로 결합 전 가장 좋은 성능을 보였다. Attention-LSTM 기반 임베딩과 결합하였을 때 EER이 2.57 %로 기존보다 3.61 % 감소하여 상대적으로 58.41 % 성능이 향상되었다.
