Purpose - This study investigated the effect of consumers' personal characteristics on their attitude toward social commerce focusing on the theory of reasoned action. Specifically, consumers' personal characteristics were further classified into personal characteristics, personal values concerning social commerce consumption, and consumption emotion concerning social commerce. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - The study investigated the relationship among consumers' personal characteristics, and the personal values of affirmative beliefs and attitudes of individuals toward social commerce based on the theory of reasoned action. A total of 151copies question nairewere evaluated, after excluding 13 copies having poor answers. Results - Consumers' personal characteristics were found to have a significant positive effect on their attitude toward social commerce. In addition, the most important personal characteristic affecting consumers' attitude toward social commerce was utilitarian value. Consumers' personal values were found to have a significant positive moderating effect between shopping value (i.e., hedonic and utilitarian values) and their attitude toward social commerce. Conclusion - The findings suggest that consumers' attitudes when trading with social commerce are affected by utilitarian value, and that companies should increase consumers' shopping value and build positive value about social commerce itself.

This study explores various issues of appearance management behavior for plus-size women in Korea with a focus on clothing. In-depth interviews and focused group interviews were conducted with 24 plus-size women. The interviews were recorded and the transcripts were analyzed based on grounded theory. Discomfort was the main phenomenon involving the experience of plus-size women related to appearance management. Psychological as well as physiological/physical discomfort, unmet needs (regarding clothing) and inconvenient shopping experiences were frequently mentioned. Causal conditions for discomfort were obesity, social stigma, and an underdeveloped clothing market for plus-size consumers. Interviewees developed strategies to cope with discomfort (suppressing clothing need, loss of interest in clothing, diversion from clothing needs, sole focus on physical comfort, dress-up and increase in shopping channels, and change in shopping patterns) that depended on contextual conditions (such as duration of obesity and attitudes of people) close to the interviewees. The discomfort of interviewees decreased or continued depending on if they became ambivalent about their obese condition, lost weight, or utilized plus-size specialty stores.

Previous studies from marketing domain suggest that the concept of involvement plays an important role in explaining consumers' purchase behavior. Despite its critical role and the explosive growth of e-commerce, there has been little research examining the role of involvement in Internet shopping mall context. With this motivation, this study has two research objectives. First, it introduces and tests a theoretical model in order to better explain consumers' intention to purchase in Internet shopping malt context. The proposed model extends and integrates existing models on purchase intention by incorporating purchase experience, innovativeness, and perceived self-control as consumer factors and perceived risk, information provision, and perceived price as Internet shopping mall factors. Second, this study attempts to shed some lights on how involvement differences may affect consumers' intention to purchase. For this purpose, two factors from involvement theory, involvement type and involvement level, are introduced as moderating factors into the research model. The empirical results partly support the proposed model and identify the moderating effect of involvement differences. Theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed along with its limitations.
Purpose - This study explores the role of construal levels in predicting online consumer behavior on a retail website. It builds on the conceptualization that simply browsing a website and making actual purchases can be an outcome of how abstractly or concretely one thinks about that experience. This study examines the differential effects of intermediary websites' attributes and seller's product offerings in predicting frequency of visits and actual purchases. Research design, data, and methodology - Data were collected from 188 undergraduate students in a large university of Korea. Hierarchical regression model was utilized to test the proposed effect of website characteristics and seller attributes on visit and purchase. Results - We propose and find that online shopping website visits and purchase frequency have different antecedents. The results reveal that website visit frequency and purchase have different predictors and this can be explained through construal level theory. Specifically, we find purchase frequency is predicted more by website image and financial benefits can be more predictive in actual purchases. Conclusions - Consumer behavior on the internet can be delineated into website visits and actual purchases. First, uplifting the image of the website itself is much more important than just making offerings cheaper. Online shopping website should try to match its features to mental representations that customers go through from just visit (abstract) to purchase (concrete).
The rapid change of consumer expectations in shopping environments has required retailers to actively adopt omni-channel services, however, limited research exists on the topic. We identify the effect of consumer's utilitarian shopping value on expectations for omni-channel services. An online survey was conducted on 176 subjects who had experience using omni-channel services. We employed Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as our theoretical model to explore the mechanisms of consumers' acceptance of omni-channel services in fashion. We used SPSS ver. 22.0 and AMOS ver. 22.0 programs to analyze data. The results indicate that utilitarian shopping value has a positive effect on performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence for omni-channel services. Performance expectancy for omni-channel services also has a positive effect on the purchase intentions of fashion products. Effort expectancy for omni-channel services also positively increases the purchase intentions of fashion products. Last, the social effect of omni-channel services has a significant positive effect on purchase intention. All the hypotheses were supported. The research findings can provide the fashion distribution industry with useful basic data to understand the needs of consumers who use multi-channels when establishing a new channel or marketing strategy.
The spread of mobile commerce due to popularization of smartphones not only broke down the boundary between online and offline, but also changed the consumer life, and hence brought change of commerce paradigm that creates new demand. The success of innovative information technology such as mobile shopping can be defined as an individual accepting the technology and continuously using it, but the studies on the usage behavior after the acceptance have been done in very restrictively, despite its importance. In this study, in order to empirically investigate the factors that influence the continuance in mobile shopping usage experience and its causal relationship, Social Cognitive Theory and Habit Theory were applied to IS Continuance Model, and the extended IS Continuance Model was suggested and proved. As a result, the usefulness, enjoyment, and self-efficacy perceived in usage experience significantly influence satisfaction, and usefulness, self-efficacy, and satisfaction influence habit. Also, usefulness, self-efficacy, satisfaction, and habit significantly influence continuance intention. This study provides a valuable asset in providing an opportunity to understand the usage behavior of mobile shopping service users after the acceptance, and furthermore proving directionality in improving customer loyalty.
Purpose: This study to seek to answer two research questions in distribution science: what photo decoration cues in online grocery stores could be identified? Could photo decoration cues significantly effect on the affective perception and behavioral intention of consumers? Research design, data, and methodology: his study conducted a laboratory experiment with a 2×2×2 factorial design to validate the proposed research model and test our proposed hypotheses. Research design, data and methodology: Two stages experiments were adopted in this study, among 360 voluntaries who have had an experience of online grocery shopping, 331 valid data had been collected and analyzed using MANOVA and PLS-SEM algorism. Results: (1) both reflective surface and complementary goods layout lead to visual appeal and shopping enjoyment; (2) contrast color usage positively impacts on visual appeal while does not significantly affect shopping enjoyment; (3) consumers' affective responses positively impact attitudes toward product and store which in turn lead to purchase intention and store loyalty. Implications for research and practice are discussed. Conclusions: Using the media richness theory, visual rhetoric theory and visual design literature as the theoretical foundation, the study provides a solid foundation to comprehend the impact of photo design artifacts on consumers' affective responses when online consumers shopping online for fresh grocery.
Purpose: This study offers suggestions to e-commerce companies for increasing shoppers' repurchase intention by considering the effect of distribution information in online shopping. It applies complexity theory to incorporate habitual information search behavior and shopper characteristics into the Stimulus-Organism-Response model and indicates how these complex factors work together in online shopping. Research design, data, and methodology: This study used an interview survey of 158 Vietnamese consumers with an experience of online shopping. A fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) was used to examine the relationship between antecedents and outcomes depending on complex conditions in the given contexts. Results: The results (1) indicate the importance of observing information search patterns and investigating their influence on online distribution, and (2) clarify what kind of configurations, under what conditions, predict a high or low outcome; this provides evidence and hints for the development of frameworks for future studies. Conclusions: The findings suggest that shoppers' unconscious, habitual behavior can work with conscious attitude factors, such as satisfaction, to increase their repurchase intention. Hence, e-commerce companies should consider how to present useful distribution information and create functions that allow shoppers to engage with a variety of information while increasing their repurchase intention on the site.
Purpose - The research aims to explore the ability of the combination of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) to predict and explain the online shopping intention of Vietnamese consumers. The findings of this study provide empirical results to assess the factors influencing behavioural intention in the E-commerce field. Research design, data, and methodology - The research approach of this study is quantitative. The data was collected from 214 respondents on e-commerce platforms. The collected data will then be analyzed to test the proposed hypothesis in this study. Multiple Regression Analysis and Simple Linear Regression are employed to test the hypothesis. Result - Perceived benefits, Perceived risk reduction, and trust positively influence Attitude toward using Ecommerce. There is a positive relationship between Subjective norms and Behavioural intention to shop online. There is a positive relationship between Attitude toward using E-commerce and Behavioural intention to shop online. Conclusion - This study is based on the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) model and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to explore the factors influencing the online shopping intention of Vietnamese consumers. Besides, this paper contributes to the managerial implications for E-commerce managers and policymakers to promote E-commerce among Vietnamese consumers.
Purpose: This study used the SORmodel (or cue utilization theory) to examine the impact of expanded quality factorsincluding product quality on customer satisfaction, attitude, and behavioral loyalty. This study examined the moderating effect of gender on the customer satisfaction-attitudinal and behavioral loyalty relationship. Research design, data, and methodology: 364 respondents were collected through an online survey and analyzed using the SmartPLS 4.0 program. Results: The findings show that product quality, along with system quality and service quality, are key determinants of customer satisfaction. In addition, this study shows that the relationship between customer satisfaction and attitudinal loyalty (repurchase and word-of-mouth intention) does not differ depending on gender, but the relationship between customer satisfaction and behavioral loyalty (share-of-visit and share-of-wallet) is stronger for women than for men. Conclusions: This research integrates concepts from environmental psychology and marketing focusing on website quality (information, system, service, and product), as well as satisfaction, attitudinal and behavioral loyalty. Online shopping mall practitioners must systematically analyze and assess the quality of online shopping, a pivotal factor driving customer satisfaction, attitude, and behavioral loyalty. Acknowledging the influence of gender on consumers' online purchasing behavior can aid online retailers in devising tailored e-commerce marketing strategies aimed at attracting and retaining customers.
