Supersonic ejectors are simple mechanical components, which generally perform mixing and recompression of two fluid streams. Ejectors have found many applications in engineering. In aerospace engineering, they are used for high altitude testing (HAT) of a propulsion system by reducing the pressure of a test chamber. It is composed of three major sections: a vacuum test chamber, a propulsive nozzle, and a supersonic exhaust diffuser (SED). This paper aims at the improvement in HAT facility by focusing attention on the vertical firing rocket test stand with shock generators. Shock generators are mounted inside the SED for improving the pressure recovery. The results clearly showed that the performance of the ejector-diffuser system was improved with the addition of shock generators. The improvement comes in the form of reduction of the starting pressure ratio and the vertical height of test stand. It is also shown that shock generators are useful in reducing the total pressure loss in the SED.

We scrutinized the acoustic outputs from the 70 shock wave generators of the 15 product models whose technical documents were available, among the 46 ballistic extracorporeal shock wave therapeutic devices of 11 domestic and 6 foreign manufacturers, approved by the Minster of Food & Drug Safety (Rep. Korea). We found that the acoustic Energy Flux Density (EFD), the most popular exposure parameter, was different by up to 563.64 times among shock wave generators at their minimum output settings and by up to 74.62 times at their maximum settings. In the same product model, the EFD was shown to vary depending on shock wave transmitters by up to 81.82 times at its minimum output setting and by up to 46.15 times at its maximum setting. The lowest EFD 0.013 mJ/mm2 at the maximum output settings was much lower (2.1 %) than the maximum value 0.62 mJ/mm2 at the minimum settings. The Large acoustic output differences (tens to hundreds of times)from the therapeutic devices approved for the same clinical indications imply that their therapeutic efficacy & safety may not be assured. The findings suggest the regulatory authority to revise her guideline to give clearer criteria for clinical approval and equality in performance, and recommend the authority to initiate a post-approval surveillance as well as a test in conformance between the data in technical documents and the real acoustic outputs clinically used.

In the integral type reactor, SMART, all the major components such as steam generators, pressurizer and pumps are located inside the single reactor pressure vessel. The objective of this study is to evaluate the structural integrity for RPV of SMART under the postulated pressurized thermal shock by applying the finite element analysis. Input data for the finite element analysis were generated using the commercial code I-DEAS, and the fracture mechanics analysis was performed using the ABAQUS. The crack configurations, the crack aspect ratio and the clad thickness were considered in the parametric study. The effects of these parameters on the reference nil-ductility transition temperature were also investigated.

In this study, a comparison of dynamic pressure data measured in hot-firing tests of liquid rocket engine gas generators with different types of dynamic pressure sensors is presented. The dynamic pressure sensors of different types and manufacturers have exhibited different dynamic pressure due to the influence of thermal shock. However, for the characteristic frequencies and RMS(root mean square) values which are important factors for the analysis of combustion instability, the differences between sensors have been found to be negligible.

An electromagnetic type shock wave generator suitable for extracorporeal shock wave therapy has been constructed by employing a solenoid coil. The Property of the shock waves produced by the shock wave generator was evaluated using a needle hydrophone. It was shown that, as the capacitor discharging voltage increased from 8 to 18 kV, the Positive Peak Pressure (P+) of the shock wave increased non-linearly from 10 to 77 Wa. In contrast. the negative peak Pressure (f) varied between -3.2 and -6.8 MPa. had its absolute maximum of -6.9 ma at 14 kV The peak amplitudes P+ measured repeatedly under the same voltage setting varied within $5\;\%$ from mean values and this is very small compared to about $50\;\%$ for electrohydraulic type shock wave generators. It could be observed, from the hydrophone signal recorded over 1 ms. several sequential acoustic impulses representing bubble collapses. namely. acoustic cavitation. induced by the shock wave. A technique based on wavelet transformation was used to accurately measure the time delay between the 1st and 2nd collapse known to be closely related to the shock strength. It was observed that the measured time delay increased almost linearly from 120 to $700\;{\mu}s$ with the shock wave Pressure P+ increasing from 10 to 77 MPa.

There are two types of generators in the MHD generation : linear type Faraday and disk type hall generator. In this paper, it is experimented disk type hall generator. Disk type generator is driven by shock tube that compresses working gas isentropically in a very short time. As a working gas, helium gas seeded with cesium is used. it is difficult to confirm the whole condition thorough oかy experiment because the things happened in MHD generator is very complex. Furthermore we can't how exactly what happen at the inside of generator's channel because the time of generation is very short and working gas flows out very high speed. Expecially it is almost impossible to measure the things occurred in the boundary layer using MHD generation experimental equipment driven shock uk. With above reasons, to know certainly how the several values happened inside disk MHD generator charge, some graphs were drawn linearly through calculation using measured experimental data. For the more, other calculated results which can't be obtained by only experiment are considered in this paper. And these calculated results are compared to experiment data how exactly done the calculation.
Many years ago, most of thermal power plants built in this country were of subcritical pressure, of medium or small size, of constant pressure operations and of drum type steam generators with circulation type boilers. But, nowadays almost all of them were of high efficiency, of supercritical pressure, of big capacity, of sliding pressure operations, and of once through type steam generator. It has such advantage as the reduction of startup duration, but it control system and operation method are very complicated. It has a big difference in operation method of turbine and boiler. The feedforward control needs to be introduced to prevent such problems as thermal shock during the transit from normal operation into bypass operation. This paper introduces the turbine control and turbine bypass control during startup of thermal power plants.
We isolated a promoter inducible by paraquat, a superoxide-generating agent, from Escherichia coli using a promoter-probing plasmid pRS415. From sequence analysis we found out the promoter is for fpr ENCODING nadph : ferredoxin oxidoreductase. We constructed on operon fusion of lacZ gene with fpr promoter to monitor the expression of the gene in the single-copy state. LacZ expression generators, menadione and plumbagin, also induced the expression of .betha.-galactosidase in the fusion strain. On the other hand, no significant induction was observed by treatment with hydrogen peroxide, ethanol, and heat shock. Induction of .betha.-galactosidase was significantly reduced by introducing a .DELTA. sox 8 :: cat of soxS3 :: Tn10 mutation into the fusion strain, indicating that fpr gene is a member of the soxRS regulon. The transcriptional start site was determined by primer extension analysis. Possible roles of fpr induction in superoxide stress were discussed.
This paper presents a triangular-to-quadrilateral mesh conversion method that can control the directionality of the output quadrilateral mesh according to a user-specified vector field. Given a triangular mesh and a vector field, the method first scores all possible quadrilaterals that can be formed by pairs of adjacent triangles, according to their shape and directionality. It then converts the pairs into quadrilateral elements in order of the scores to form a quadrilateral mesh. Engineering analyses with finite element methods occasionally require a quadrilateral mesh well aligned along the boundary geometry or the directionality of some physical phenomena, such as in the directions of a streamline, shock boundary, or force propagation vectors. The mesh conversion method can control the mesh directionality according to any desired vector fields, and the method can be used with any existing triangular mesh generators.
