  • The purpose of this research was to investigate preference and clothing images for T-shirts utilizing Hyojemunja Textile Pattern. The results of this study showed that the secondary students who participate in the study had low interest in Folk-painting and that the female students were more willing to buy T-shirts utilizing The Hyojemunja Textile Pattern than the others. Secondary students preferred letters-pattern to other ones of T-shirts and they opted for the patterns with black curve scripts and the patterns located in upper parts of T-shirts. However, the participants considered straight scripts more sophisticated, unique and feminine than curve scripts and therefore, this awareness helped them become more interested in Hyojemunja Textile Pattern. The findings of the study may suggest T-shirts utilizing Hyojemunja Textile Pattern can give those who have a low interest in Folk-painting increased chances to learn Folk-painting in secondary education.

A questionnaire survey was conducted on 469 university students (male students $45.3\%$, female students $54.7\%$) in the Cheongju area, Korea. The results were as follows: Regardless of gender, most owned 4 shirts in the autumn, which were each worn once or twice week. Generally, patterned shirts were less favored than those with solid colors, regardless of gender, but the color of the shirts differed slightly according to gender. Most students gathered items from those displayed in the store as their source of information on shirts, and tended to purchase items worth $30,000\~50,000$ won at franchised stores with friends of the same gender. They almost always looked carefully at the size and brand, but the care label and fiber content were rather neglected during the purchase. While purchasing their shirts, the following elements were considered, in this order of importance: size; color; fitness; comfort; price; tactile sensation. Light, dense, soft, warm, wrinkle-free, dry and strong sensation of the shirt fabrics were the strongest preferences for a purchase. • This study was investigated to evaluate the physiological responses on T-shirts manufactured with selected functional materials by body parts which were selectioned on the distribution of sweating and temperature change. Seven healthy men in twenties were participated in a climate chamber of $27{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ and $50{\pm}1%RHC$. Three kinds of T-shirts named 'D1', 'D2' and 'Poly' were used as experimental clothings. Four kinds of functional materials of quick absorbing/drying were used in all section in 'D1', but two kinds of functional materials used partially in 'D2'. 'Poly' T-shirts used only polyester. In an experimental schedule of 90 minutes, which were consisted of 'Rest', twice of 'Exercise' and twice of 'Recovery' periods, the subjects walked on a treadmill with 60% of $VO_2max$. As a physiological responses, the microclimate temperature, surface temperature(skin, clothing) and sweat rate were measured. Temperature regulation was kept well in 'D1' rather than other T-shirts. The quick absorbing/drying T-shirts showed its performance well as the exercise goes on the second half. With these results in mind, 'D1' will be more effective for long hours exercise such as climbing rather than short hours exercise.

Through digital printing system, a variety of patterns and pictures can be printed on T-shirts in a relatively short time. At this backdrop, the result of this research can aid to develop design of T-shirts with a high value added on it. The result was that the printing methods were categorized into borrowing the pictures of masterpieces, applying photography or caricatures, introducing graffiti or lettering, and representing industrial arts. In conclusion, digital printing system unlike the established printing method can have almost an unlimited range of expressing various kinds of pictures and patterns, so that designers may develop high value-added differentiated T-shirts. In other words, by creating a variety of designs with no limit of its quantity, its expressive range can be more widened and with an increased development of plotting machines, we may manufacture more varied kinds of products in a small quantity at a faster rate.
