The work of VLCC SPM mainly is accomplished on the open sea. On the open sea as a result of meteorological condition and the ocean wave influence, When the weather condition is get bed, peremptorily moving to the safety place, bemuse of the gale and the billow, almost happened frequently, the pilot is unable to go on board and the tug is also unable to be used Now bemuse of the bad weather the VLCC SPM moving to the other safety place frequently happened in the ulsan port. the construction of new harbor, it constructed many break water around SPM. So that it is necessary to propose the new standard about how to maneuvering area actually. Now our country is at the blank stage about the establishment of SPM research Most of the situations refer to overseas standards. But these standards lack consistency and clarity. So when moving to the another safe place from SPM, we must Carry through the research and study on the ships using sailing through AIS Data We must put forward a new standard about maneuvering area of ships moving at SPM.
To assess the possible collision risk between Mokpo Harbour Bridge, which is under construction, and passing vessels, we proposed Real-Time Bridge-Vessel Collision Model (RT-BVCM) in this paper. The mathematical model of RT-BVCM consists of the causation probability by the vessel aberrancy due to navigation environments, the geometric probability by the structural feature of a bridge relative to a ship size and, the failure probability by the ship collision track and the stopping distance which is not to come to a stop before hitting the obstacles. Then, the probabilistic mathematical model represented as risk index with the risk level from 1 to 5. The merit of the proposed model to the collision model proposed by AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) is that it can provide enough time to take adequate collision avoiding action. Through the simulation tests to the two kinds of test ships, 3,000 GT and 10,000 GT, it is cleary found that the proposed model can be used as a collision evaluation model to the passing vessel and Mokpo Harbour Bridge.

Recently, bridge design and/or construction works on marine traffic route are undertaking in Korean waters. Naturally the ship-handling difficulty and hazardous to navigation should be increased when the bridge is constructed on the shipping route. Unfortunately, however, it is impossible or not desirable to secure wide enough bridge span width due to geographical condition or economic point of view. Therefore this study aims to propose the consideration factors during the bridge design process, and the traffic volume control, speed limit and other alternative measures to secure traffic safety using marine traffic flow simulation technique.

In A bridge which connects Mokpo North Harbor and Com Island is going to be constructed until 2009. For the bridges being built in the navigable water area, it is indispensible to carry out vessel traffic safety assessment from the viewpoint of shiphandlers, however, there exist no specific guidelines for the necessary conditions whim the bridge designers can rely on. In this paper, traffic safety assessment procedures for the layout of the bridge is briefly introduced, and the conditions whim should be taken into account at the initial design stage of the bridge is surveyed. For the safety assessment of the bridge design, ship navigation simulations, such as RTS(real time simulation} and FTS(fast time simulation), are carried out, the results of which are statistically analysed to estimate the probability of collision between the ship and the pier of the bridge.

When Arctic offshore development in the 1970's first led to the consideration of ice capable tankers, there was a high level of uncertainty over design requirements for both safety and ship performance. Also here was a lack of reliable methods to evaluate design proposals. Since that time, improved understanding of the ice environment has raised the confidence of design specifications. Parallel developments have resulted in a suite of engineering tools for ship performance evaluation at the design stage Recent development of offshore and near shore oil and gas reserves in several countries together with economic studies of increased transportation through the Russian Arctic has newly introduced the interest in ice capable tanker design. in response, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) applied its experience in tanker design and construction to the design of a specialized tanker with ice capability. SHI produced two prototype hull designs for further study. The performance of both hulls and of the propellers was evaluated at the Institute for Marine Dynamics (IMD) in St. John's, Newfoundland This paper discusses the development of the design, describes the model experiments to determine performance and variations, and presents the results.

Nowadays, optimum structural design techniques based on CSR have been developed and applied to the preliminary design stage focused on minimum weight and minimum construction cost of ship structure. Optimum structural design algorithm developed before could minimize weight and cost on fixed compartment arrangement. However, to develop more efficient design technique, a designer needs to combine optimized compartment arrangement with optimized ship structural design because compartment arrangement has a large effect on structural design according to the change of still water bending moment as a consequence of compartment arrangement change. In this study, automated algorithm for compartment arrangement of an oil tanker is developed to apply preliminary structural design. The usefulness of developed algorithm is verified with Aframax oil tanker constructed by STX shipbuilding Co.Ltd..

For several decades, Asian nations such as Korea, Japan and China have been leading the shipbuilding industry since the decline in Europe and America. However, several developing countries such as India, Brazil, etc. are going to make an entrance into the shipbuilding industry. These developing countries are finding technical partners or information providers because they are in situation of little experiences and technologies. Now, the shipbuilding engineering companies of shipbuilding advanced countries are getting a chance of engineering business against those developing countries. The starting point of this business model is green field project for the construction of new shipyard. This business model is started with a design of the shipyard layout. For the conducting of the shipyard layout design, four kinds of engineering parts are required. Those are civil engineering, building engineering, utility engineering and production layout engineering. Among these parts, production layout engineering is most important because its result is the foundation of the other engineering parts and it determines the shipyard capacity during the shipyard operation lifecycle. Previous researches about the shipyard layout design are out of the range from the business requirements because most research cases are in the tower of ivory, which means that there are little consideration of real ship and shipbuilding operation. In this paper, a shipyard layout design for preliminary phase is conducted for the target of newly planned shipyard at Venezuela of South America with an integrated method that is capable of dealing with actual master data from the shipyard. The layout design method of this paper is differentiated from the previous researches in that the actual product data from the target ship and the actual shipbuilding operation data are used for the required area estimation.

In this study, we developed an allocation optimization system for supply chain management in the shipbuilding and offshore construction industry. Supply chain operation is a way of operating manufacturing company responsible for the procurement of outfitting parts. The method about how to allocate the manufacturing volume to each partner company includes important decisions. According to the allocation method, the stability of the material supplied to the final installation process is guaranteed. We improved the allocation method that was previously decided by the person in charge. Based on the optimization engine, a system is developed that can automatically allocate the production volume. For optimization model configuration, factors affecting the volume allocation were analyzed and modeled as constraint factors. A target function is defined to minimize the difference in the load variance of each partner company. In order to use the same type of volume allocation engine for various outfitting products, the amount of work done by the partner company was standardized. We developed an engine that can allocate the same production load of each production partner. Using this engine, the operating system was developed and applied to the actual offshore project. It has been confirmed that the work load variance of suppliers can be maintained uniformly using the optimization engine rather than manual method. By this system, we stabilize the manufacturing process of partner suppliers.
Long span bridges such as steel cable stayed and suspension bridges are usually more flexible than short to medium span bridges and expected to have large deformations. Deflections due to live load for long span bridges are important since it controls the overall heights of the bridge for securing the clearance under the bridge and serviceability for securing the comfort of passengers or pedestrians. In case of sea-crossing bridges, the clearance of bridges is determined considering the height of the ship master from the surface of the water, the trim of the ship, the psychological free space, the tide height, and live load deflection. In the design of bridges, live load deflection is limited to a certain value to minimize the vibrations. However, there are not much studies that consider the live load deflection and its effects for long span bridges. The purpose of this study is to investigate the suitability of live load deflection limit and its actual effects on serviceability of bridges for steel cable-stayed and suspension bridges. Analytical study is performed to calculate the natural frequencies and deflections by design live load. Results are compared with various design limits and related studies by Barker et al. (2011) and Saadeghvaziri et al. (2012). Two long span bridges are selected for the case study, Yi Sun-Sin grand bridge (suspension bridge, main span length = 1545 m) and Young-Hung grand bridge (cable stayed bridge, main span length = 240 m). Long-term measured deflection data by GNSS system are collected from Yi Sun-Sin grand bridge and compared with the theoretical values. Probability of exceedance against various deflection limits are calculated from probability distribution of 10-min maximum deflection. The results of the study on the limitation of live load deflection are expected to be useful reference for the design, the proper planning and deflection review of the long span bridges around the world.
