The Bell King Songdok the Great tolls magnificient sound that would be a great vehicle which brings all beings to the Sutras. Since 693, there was a magic flute, MANPASIKJUK, which was in existence in Shilla Dynasty that could lull all the evil-wawes, such an plaques, storms, Droughts, Famines and even Enemies. Thus, a sound tube, MANPASIKJUK, was erected in the crown of the Bell Songdok the Great so as to be effective to emit the nominal frequency tone whenever the Bell tolls for the national prosperity and welfare the People. Therefore, the Bell makers tried to fine the transmissibility condition through the sound tubr, several times during 34 years, However, it seems to be unfinished. Ever since, all of the korean Brahman Bell have the sound tubes of MANPASIKJUK, but none is performed their own functions. Here, one of the way to let the function of the sound tube of MANPASIKJUK out in the Bell Songdok the Great is proposed. There are two steps: the 1st is to elongate 18cm to the present length 77cm to fulfill the transmissibility condition for the nominal frequency of sound is emitted through the corrected sound tybe. 2nd step is to rise to 95% of the emission of the tone of nominal frequency, so that an exponential hem with the flare constant 2.8m-1, length 2.259m and the radius of the mouth 1.772m is to be extended to the corrected sound tube.
Stone -monuments, distributed in this area, have been investigated and studied in geological and conservational points of view. They are seemed to have been mainly built from the Shilla to Koryeo Kingdom, although more systematic studies are needed. The used rocks in these monuments are mainly biotite granite and hornblende-biotite granite of Jurassic age. The rock phases are nearly identical to those which are distributed in the area. The two rock phases are nearly same in the characteristics of minevalogy and texture except the amount of hornblende. However, hornblende-biotite granite characteristically contains aggregates of mafic minerals which are frequently observable in the monuments. They are mainly influenced by chemical weathering due to warm, abundant rainfall, and salty moisture because of being adjacent to the sea. Some cracks are secondarily developed which may be due to strong chemical weathering and influence of sculpturing. For conservation, it must be scientifically considered based on characteristics and kind of rock phase, factors on weathering process, situation and protection.
The historical facts usually remain in the linguistic records. The name of a place has been considered most useful among the records. The name of a place contains lots of information which help us analyzing and explaining the historical problems. The main purpose of this thesis is to account for the relation between language and history based on the data of the name of a place with the property just mentioned above. Firstly I will estimate the territory of the former period of Paek-Che (18B.C.~475A.D.) on the basis of the distribution of the old name of a place and show that the presumed shape of the territory could prove the fact that the unification of Shilla is 'the unification of two nations' but not 'the unification of three nations' Secondly the distribution of the old name of a place can bring light on the interrelation between Paek-Che language and Kara language and help us understand the relation of neighboring countries between two nations. Thirdly we can discuss the relation between the language of the former period of Paek-Che and of the old period of Japan: that is, how the language of Paek-Che came in the Japanese language. Also, the history of cultural domination between Paek-Che and Japan could be clarified if we can prove the linguistic similarity of two nations either to be genealogical relation or to be borrowing one.
History of architecture technology is the area where further studies are the most needed in Korean architecture history. This present study deals with architectural tools and woodworking of Baekje as a first step in exploration of Korean architecture technology history especially, that of Baekje dynasty. Based on the study of real artifacts and archeological sites showing the trace of tool use, function and forms of architectural tools were classified, characteristics of tools investigated, and woodworking technology analyzed. The main tools of analysis include Square, Black Inkpot, Hatchet, Saw, Chisel, Wood Hammer, Axe, and Plane. It is assumed that architectural technology during Baekje dynasty might have leapt into the new stage thanks to the regular use of iron tools. Compared to those of previous eras, iron tools of Baekje are more elaboratedly-designed and well-defined in function. In addition, wooden architectural tools from Baekje demonstrate the superiority of its woodworking technology Historical record also shows the fact that craftsman from Baekje participated in construction of temples of Shilla and Japan. Precise assessment of Baeje architecture technology is difficult because no Baekje wooden architecture is still remaining. The facts mentioned above, however, surely prove the excellence of architecture technology of Baekje.
This study investigates the importance of customers who use hotel restaurants on the basis of literature and actual data, establishes positioning strategies to stimulate hotel restaurants amidst an intensely competitive market, and sets up marketing strategies that can be applied to hotel restaurant business from the analysis results. Determinant factors for hotel restaurants were service quality, food, atmosphere and cleanness, brand and reputation, the attitude and appearance of attendants, and variety of menu, in the order of importance. As for the analysis results for satisfaction, the higher the customers regarded on the attitude and appearance of attendants and the food of the restaurant, the higher the overall satisfaction, the intention of revisiting, and the intention of recommendation of the customers became. Therefore, the marketing and promotion staffs of hotel restaurants should search for the ways to meet these needs of customers as much as possible, and identify the usage inclinations and satisfaction level of customers when carrying out marketing activities and establishing customer relationship marketing strategies.
Stone-monuments, distributed in this area, have been investigated and studied on the characteristics and the rock phases in the geological and conservational points of view. Most of them may have been built from the end of the Shilla Kingdom to the Koryeo Kingdom, which are based on the typical characteristics of the form. The used rocks in these monuments are mainly biotite granite of the Jurassic age which is widely distributed around the area. Black slate and marbles are also used in some monuments, which may be obtained from other areas. The biotite granite of massive and coarse texture contains often inclusions of biotite aggregates or fragments of dioritic rock phase. However, the biotite granite in the area may be very weak to the chemical weathering so that irregular rock surface shows generally $2\~3mm$ relief. The irregular relief is mainly due to different relative degree on the chemical weathering according to the kind of minerals especially quartz, feldspar and biotite. The chemical weathering is also influenced by organisms. For conservation, they must be scientifically considered based on the characteristics, kind of the rock phase, factors on the weathering process, situation in situ or being transported, and protection.
This paper presents a feasibility study of a fresh air load reduction system by using an underground double floor space. The system was introduced into a real building and was examined by the field measurement. Judging from the measurements during three years(1999~2001), the state of the system operation was very stable through this period and it was clear that the system contributes to reduction of energy consumption for air-conditioning. Futhermore, a simulation model used the simple heat diffusion equation was developed to simulate its thermal characteristics and performances. The simulations resulted in air temperature in good agreement with the measurements. Also, from the result of numerical analysis, it is clear that the amount of heat supply by using this system is more than the amount of energy loss to the room above it. Therefore, it is concluded that this systems is very useful and the proposed numerical model can be used for the prediction of system thermal performance.
In this paper, stable and robust dynamic walking for a biped motion is proposed. To success this objective, the following structures are processed. In this paper, the proposed control method is one that adjusts actual zero moment position to move to the closest possible point in the stable area instead of following desired zero moment position. This minimizes energy consumption with the smallest joint movements. The proposed control method makes mechanical energy that drives lower limb of the bipedal robot efficient. In this paper, walking experiment is carried out with the three control structures mentioned above. The trajectory generated by off-line is illustrated by performing to walking on flat ground. experiment with an obstacle whose height is lower than that of trajectory is executed to validate dynamic motion.
This study investigated the antioxidative and antimicrobial activities of nutmeg (water, ethanol extract and essential oil). The total phenol contents of water, ethanol extract and essential oil were 3.4%, 16.9%, and 3.2%, respectively. Hydrogen donating abilities of water, ethanol extract and essential oil at 1,000 ppm were 4.9%, 41.8% and 6.8%, respectively. The antioxidative activities in linoleic acid substrates were in the order of BHT > ethanol > extract > ${\alpha}$-tocopherol > essential oil > water extract. The antioxidative activities in linoleic acid emulsion substrates were in the order of BHT > water extract > essential oil > ethanol extract > ${\alpha}$-tocopherol. In antimicrobial activity, ethanol extract showed growth inhibition effect against Micrococcus luteus, Bacillus cereus and Salmonella enteritidis, and the essential oil showed growth inhibition effect against Micrococcus luteus. However, no antimicrobial activity of water extract was observed. The nitrite-scavenging abilities of water, ethanol extract and essential oil at 1,000 ppm were 4.5%, 28.8% and 98.8%, respectively, and the ACE inhibitory activities were 0.2%, 11.0% and 10.0%, respectively.
