  • We investigated the properties of various methods of 3 dimensional profilometry to choose the phase shifting technique for the reconstruction of the shape of a given specimen. The pattern was generated by a Twyman-Green interferometer and a PZT was used to shift the fringes on the target surface. The shape was calculated with Hariharan algorithm within the uncertainty of a scaling factor. The optical noise inherent in the laser source was observed to influence the final outcome to a great extent and the need for an exact calibration was noted. noted.

  • Motion estimation (ME) algorithms supporting quarter-pixel accuracy have been recently introduced to retain detailed motion information for high quality of video in the state-of-the-art video compression standard of H.264/AVC. Conventional sub-pixel ME algorithms in the spatial domain are faced with a common problem of computational complexity because of embedded interpolation schemes. This paper proposes a low-complexity sub-pixel motion estimation algorithm in the transform domain utilizing shifting matrix. Simulations are performed to compare the performances of spatial-domain ME algorithms and transform-domain ME algorithms in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and the number of bits per frame. Simulation results confirm that the transform-domain approach not only improves the video quality and the compression efficiency, but also remarkably alleviates the computational complexity, compared to the spatial-domain approach.

  • Edge detection is one of image processing techniques applied for a variety of purposes in a number of areas and it is used as a necessary pretreatment process in most applications. In the conventional edge detection methods, there are Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts and LoG, etc using a fixed weights mask. Since conventional edge detection methods apply the images to the fixed weights mask, the edge detection characteristics appear somewhat insufficient. Therefore in this study, an algorithm for detecting the edge is proposed by applying the cross mask based on the center pixel and up, down, left and right mask based on the surrounding pixels of center pixel in order to solve these problems. And in order to assess the performance of proposed algorithm, it was compared with a conventional Sobel, Roberts, Prewitt and LoG edge detection methods.

  • To handling the extreme situation that must manage positional information of a very large volume, at least millions of moving objects. A cluster-based sealable distributed computing system architecture, called the GALIS which consists of multiple data processors, each dedicated to keeping records relevant to a different geographical zone and a different time zone, was proposed. In this paper, we proposed a valid time management and time-zone shifting scheme, which are essential in realizing the long-term location data subsystem of GALIS, but missed in our previous prototype development. We explain how to manage valid time of moving objects to avoid ambiguity of location information. We also describe time-zone shifting algorithm with three variations, such as Real Time-Time Zone Shifting, Batch-Time Zone Shifting, Table Partitioned Batch-Time Zone Shifting, Through experiments related with query processing time and CPU utilization, we show the efficiency of the proposed time-zone shifting schemes.

  • This paper presents an efficient heuristic algorithm to avoid crosstalk which effects to delay of CMOS digital circuit by downsizing and upsizing of Gate. The proposed algorithm divide into two step, step1 performs downsizing of gate, step2 performs upsizing, so that avoid adjacent aggressor to critical path in series. The proposed algorithm has been verified on LGSynth91 benchmark circuits and Experimental results show an average $8.64\%$ Crosstalk Avoidance effect. This result proved new potential of proposed algorithm.

  • An algorithm to extract the 3-D geometric information of a static object was developed using a set of 2-D computer vision system and a laser structured lighting device. As a structured light pattern, multi-parallel lines were used in the study. The proposed algorithm was composed of three stages. The camera calibration, which determined a coordinate transformation between the image plane and the real 3-D world, was performed using known 6 pairs of points at the first stage. Then, utilizing the shifting phenomena of the projected laser beam on an object, the height of the object was computed at the second stage. Finally, using the height information of the 2-D image point, the corresponding 3-D information was computed using results of the camera calibration. For arbitrary geometric objects, the maximum error of the extracted 3-D feature using the proposed algorithm was less than 1~2mm. The results showed that the proposed algorithm was accurate for 3-D geometric feature detection of an object.

  • This paper introduces a new algorithm of pulse generation and detection for UWB communication system. The existing UWB systems using Gaussian pulse have some difficulties to cope with bandwidth limitation and frequency transition. Moreover. the system sensitivity to channel noise has made the processes of acquisition and tacking difficult. in this paper, we introduce a new pulse generation method which is able to control the bandwidth and center frequency applying modulation method. thus could improve the detection performance of receiving algorithm. Also, we made a system to search maximum perk by applying the proposed algorithm and consequently could guarantee the correct detection. By the result of simulation, when accumulate 10 times at every 2dB band shifting from 0 to 18dB on AWGN channel, we could confirm the proposed method has 97.4% PDR(Pulse Detection Rate) and 1.868% FAR(False Alarm Rate) performance at 4dB SNR and 15% transmission power threshold level.

  • A shift control algorithm of a newly developed two-speed gear shift system is proposed for electric vehicle applications. The algorithm is formulated according to the motor torque map and optimized to obtain the adequate propulsion characteristics for vehicle. Two speed gear system with shift control algorithm has proved greater efficiencies in terms of energy economy with its simplified hardware and software structures. The gear shifting is designed to be carried out by an actuator and the control signal from a vehicle control unit equipped with $\mu$-processor. The results of performances and efficiency of the algorithm by simulation and vehicle test are described.

  • To make a scheduling for minimizing the tardiness of delivery, we present an efficient heuristic algorithm for job-shop scheduling problems with due dates. The SDME(Slack Degree Modified Exchange) algorithm, which is the proposed heuristic algorithm, carries out the operation in two phases. In the phase 1, a dispatching rule is employed to generate an active or non-delay initial schedule. In the phase 2, tasks selected from a predetermined set of promising target operations in the initial schedule are tested to ascertain whether, by left-shifting their start times and rearranging some subset of the remaining operations, one can reduce the total tardiness. In the numerical example, the results indicate that the proposed SDME algorithm is capable of yielding notable reductions in the total tardiness for practical size problems.

  • Random delay countermeasures introduce random delays into the execution flow to break the synchronization and increase the complexity of the side channel attack. A novel method for attacking devices with random delay countermeasures has been proposed by using a maximal overlap discrete wavelet transform (MODWT)-based power trace alignment algorithm. Firstly, the random delay in the power traces is sensitized using MODWT to the captured power traces. Secondly, it is detected using the proposed random delay detection algorithm. Thirdly, random delays are removed by circular shifting in the wavelet domain, and finally, the power analysis attack is successfully mounted in the wavelet domain. Experimental validation of the proposed method with the National Institute of Standards and Technology certified Advanced Encryption Standard-128 cryptographic algorithm and the SAKURA-G platform showed a 7.5× reduction in measurements to disclosure and a 3.14× improvement in maximum correlation value when compared with similar works in the literature.
