This paper proposes the compensation algorithm of conventional shift pattern using fuzzy reasoning in automatic transmission vehicles. Recently, automatic transimssion vehicles are continually increasing because of theire ease to drive. Also users require the high performance which includes the smooth shift quality and shift scheduling that matches driver;s intentions. So the shift scheduling has been inproved significantly through the application of electronic control. But, in spite of this development, vehicles using conventional shift pattern are sometimes in discord with driver's intention on roads. In this paper, the paper, the proposed compensation algorithm makes a automatic transmission vehicle be able to select an optimal gear shifting time and position using fuzzy reasoning and make a vehicle driver feel confortable even when the vehicle runs on roads which is extremely changed. Therefore, a vehicle driver can expect to reduce the nimber of unnecessary gear shifting and expect the fuel efficiency high. To show usefulness of the proposed method, some simulation are made to compared with conventional gear shifting. Paper prosposes the compensation mehtod of conventional shift pattern using fuzzy reasoning for the purpose that a vehicle can select an optimal gerar shifting time and position in automatic vehicle. Though the conventional shift pattern has no pliability, vehicle driver can feel comfortable and can reduce the number of unnecessary gear shifting using the proposed method on variable road condition. Therefore, it can be expected the fuel efficiency.
Energy shifting is an innovative method used to obtain the highest profit from the operation of energy storage systems (ESS) by controlling the charge and discharge schedules according to the electricity prices in a given period. Therefore, in this study, we propose an optimal charge and discharge scheduling method that performs energy shift operations derived from an ESS efficiency model. The efficiency model reflects the construction of power conversion systems (PCSs) and lithium battery systems (LBSs) according to the rated discharge time of a MWh-scale ESS. The PCS model was based on measurement data from a real system, whereas for the LBS, we used a circuit model that is appropriate for the MWh scale. In addition, this paper presents the application of a genetic algorithm to obtain the optimal charge and discharge schedules. This development represents a novel evolutionary computation method and aims to find an optimal solution that does not modify the total energy volume for the scheduling process. This optimal charge and discharge scheduling method was verified by various case studies, while the model was used to realize a higher profit than that realized using other scheduling methods.
We propose a new optimization framework for the reactive scheduling. The proposed rescheduling scheme is specially focused on how to generate rescheduling results when equipment failure occurs. The approach is based on a continuous-time problem representation that takes into account the schedule in progress, the updated information on the batches still to be processed, the present plant state, the deviations in plant parameters and the time data. To update the predictive scheduling, we used right shift rescheduling and total regeneration when equipment failure occurs. And, a practical solution to the rescheduling problem requires satisfaction of two often confliction measures: the efficiency measure that evaluates the satisfaction of a desired objective function value and the stability measure that evaluates the amount of change between the schedules before and after the disruption. In this paper, the efficiency is measured by the makespan of all jobs in the system. And, the stability is measured by the percentage change in makespan and the modified sequence deviation in the predictive scheduling and rescheduling.

This paper presents a scheduling scheme for die casting processes considering power usage. The scheduling problem of a shift-based die casting process is represented by a linear programming (LP) model that maximizes the average efficiency of melting furnaces in regard of the usage of molten alloy, where the product quantities of each shift are used as primary variables. In this research, we propose a novel LP model that considers power usage of foundries. The developed LP model can derive product plans in which the expended power of a casting shift does not exceed a prescribed limit, while optimizing the efficiency of alloy usage. The simulation result of a case study demonstrates the superiority and applicability of the proposed scheme. This paper serves as a basic research on the role of foundries as an intelligent costumer in smart grid environment where the limit of power usage should be fulfilled.

Scheduling of die casting is a procedure of determining quantities of cast products so as to optimize a predetermined performance criterion. This paper presents a novel scheme of preventing product shortage raised by defective castings when die casting scheduling is applied to real casting operations. The previously developed linear programming (LP) model for die casting scheduling maximizes the average efficiency of melting furnaces in regard of the usage of molten alloy. However, the LP model is not able to cope with the problem of defective products occurring in the casting process. The proposed scheme is that whenever defective products are found in a shift, the foundryman produces additional cast products using the residue of molten alloy left at the end of the next shift. Neither the calculated amount of molten alloy nor the scheduling result of the LP model does not have to be altered for this method. The simulation result demonstrates the superiority and applicability of the newly proposed scheme.
The critical problem of nurse scheduling in the hospital is determining the day-to -day shift assignments for each nurse for the specified period in a way that satisfies the given requirements of the hospital. As nurse scheduling involves many factors and requirements, manual scheduling requires much time and effort to produce an adequate schedule. A PC - based decision support system, developed in Turbo - C/sup ++/, for nurse scheduling was introduced. The system is composed of 4 sub-systems : 1) Entering basic information for each nursing unit : 2) Generation of an appropriate initial schedule and revised schedule for a given period, maximally satisfying each nurse's duty requests : 3) Provision of variety of statistical information, and 4) Help messages for each modular function. Icons and a mouse are used for easier graphic user interface and reducing the need for typing efforts. This system can help nurses develop quick and easy schedule generation and allow more time for the patient care.
For the past several decades, personnel scheduling and rostering problem has been one of the most popular research topics in optimization area. Among the numerous applications, airline (aviation) industry has been given most attention due to the economic scale and impact. Most of the literatures about the staff scheduling problem in airline industry are dealing with the air crew, pilots and flight attendances, and the rest of the literatures are about the ground staff, by whom cleaning, maintenance, fueling of aircraft and handling luggage are done from landing to taking off. None of the literatures found by the authors are dealing with the airline ground crew. In this paper roster of airline ground crew, who is responsible for issuing boarding pass, checking baggage, etc, is introduced, formulated and solved using CPLEX. Some expressions of the mathematical formulations, which are not suitable input format of the CPLEX, were transformed. Numerical examples are presented for the validation of proposed scheduling system.
In this paper, we investigate a group building based power consumption scheduling to minimize the electricity cost. We consider the demand shift to reduce the peak load and suggest the compensation function reflecting the relationship between the change of the building demand and the occupants' comfort. Using that, the electricity cost minimization problem satisfied the convexity is formulated, and the optimal power consumption scheduling algorithm is proposed based on the iterative method. Extensive simulations show that the proposed algorithm achieves the group management gain compared to the individual building operation by increasing the degree of freedom for the operation.

Recent advancements in cloud service virtualization technologies have witnessed a shift from a Virtual Machine-centric approach to a container-centric paradigm, offering advantages such as faster deployment and enhanced portability. Container orchestration has emerged as a key technology for efficient management and scheduling of these containers. However, with the increasing complexity and diversity of heterogeneous workloads and service types, resource scheduling has become a challenging task. Various research endeavors are underway to address the challenges posed by diverse workloads and services. Yet, a systematic approach to container orchestration for effective cloud management has not been clearly defined. This paper proposes the DRA-Engine (Dynamic Resource Allocation Engine) for resource scheduling in container orchestration. The proposed engine comprises the Request Load Procedure, Required Resource Measurement Procedure, and Resource Provision Decision Procedure. Through these components, the DRA-Engine dynamically allocates resources according to the application's requirements, presenting a solution to the challenges of resource scheduling in container orchestration.
