Measurement of Spatial Scattered Dose Distribution According to Presence or Absence of Radiation Shielding in the Operating Room (수술실에서 방사선 차폐기 사용 유무에 따른 공간산란선량분포의 측정)

  • This study compared the spatial scattered dose distribution according to whether the recently developed radiation shielding is used or not in order to understand the spatial scattered dose distribution of C-arm. The horizontal side distribution increased by $30^{\circ}$ in the interval of the radius 50 cm on the height of 95 cm based on the head of the patient, and it was measured by increasing $30^{\circ}$ with the interval of 50 cm in the vertical side of each horizontal side. In the same method, the radiation shielding was installed and measured. The result of measurement shows that the horizontal side of 50 cm distance was $0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$, was $1.77{\pm}0.12$, $1.90{\pm}0.13$, $2.12{\pm}0.14$, and $2.69{\pm}0.15mSv/h$ in the $270^{\circ}$ direction, and was $1.59{\pm}0.12$, $0.99{\pm}0.09$, $1.47{\pm}0.11$, and $1.37{\pm}0.11mSv/h$ after the use of the radiation shielding. In addition, the vertical distribution in horizontal direction $90^{\circ}$ with 50 cm distance was $30^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $120^{\circ}$, was $3.85{\pm}0.18$, $9.15{\pm}0.28$, $10.82{\pm}0.31$, and $5.40{\pm}0.22mSv/h$ in $150^{\circ}$, and was $2.03{\pm}0.13$, $4.32{\pm}0.19$, $2.76{\pm}0.16$, and $1.92{\pm}0.13mSv/h\;mR/h$ after the use of the radiation shielding. Both direction showed decrease according to the use of the radiation shielding. Therefore, radiation related workers who work in operating rooms should recognize the spatial scattered dose distribution exactly and need to try to prevent the risk of radiation exposure with proper protective measures.

A Study on the Difference of Scattered Rays with or Without Gonadal Shielding During Chest Computed Tomography (흉부 전산화 단층 촬영 검사 시 발생하는 생식선 차폐 유무에 따른 산란 선량 차이에 관한 연구)

  • This study is a study on the difference in dose according to the presence or absence of gonadal shielding of scattered rays generated during chest computed tomography examination, and the scattered dose of the examination site was measured by placing the RadEye G-10 device in the center of the phantom. When the gonads are not shielded, the scattering lines of the whole, both sides, posterior and gonads are measured and Xenolite nolead Apron (0.35 mm PB), Xenolite nolead Apron (front 0.35 mm PB Mix back 0.25 mm PB, Skirt overlap), Half Apron After shielding with (0.5 mm PB), each scattered dose was measured. During chest computed tomography, the scattered dose of the test site was measured at 272 μSv, and when not shielded with Apron, the average total was 43 μSv, left 81 μSv, right part 82 μSv, posterior part 38.8 μSv, and Gonad part 16 μSv. Became. Xenolite nolead Apron shielded only the upper part and measured all 11.2 μSv, left part 43.1 μSv, right part 45.3 μSv, posterior part 12 μSv and Gonad part 5.2 μSv. Xenolite nolead Apron (Skirt overlap) covered the Pelvis area 360° and the dose was measured to be 5.6 μSv in the whole, 22.4 μSv in the left, 15.7 μSv in the right side, 6 μSv in the posterior part, and 3.2 μSv in the Gonad part. The method of 360° shielding of the pelvic area showed a dose reduction of more than 80%, and a dose reduction effect of more than 70% was shown when all shielding was performed. In all computerized tomography examinations, research to reduce the exposure dose and various shielding devices were used. It is believed that continuous research on the technique is needed.

Optimum Control of a Photoelectric Dimming System in a Small Office with a Double Skin Envelope

  • A photoelectric dimming control system for a small private office space with a double skin envelope system was analyzed for the purpose of examining optimum control performances under a variety of daylight conditions. Computer simulations were performed for the three different photosensor types positioned at the center of ceiling in the space. They were applied in both a south and north-facing room. Daylight conditions were a fixed horizontal venetian blind on an external envelope and a retractable shading device on an internal envelope under a clear, intermediate and overcast sky at different times of a day and year. Partially-shielded photosensors provided good control performances providing the required electric light output under clear and intermediate sky conditions. Unshielded photosensors failed to provide necessary illuminance levels producing less electric output and fully-shielded photosensors generally provided excessive light output. Reasonable electric lighting energy savings were achieved except under overcast sky conditions where the control system did not contribute to energy savings due to the less daylight through envelopes. The retractable shading device covering 50% of the internal envelope reduced energy savings up to 19.62%, but the workplane illuminance levels were maintained within recommended ranges. The coefficients of determination between workplane illuminance and photosensor illuminance due to daylight ranged from 0.74 to 0.98. Partially-shielded conditions provided best correlations and the north-facing room yielded stronger correlation than the south-facing room.

  • A novel finite element mesh regeneration method is presented for 3D shape optimization of electromagnetic devices. The method has its theoretical basis in the structural deformation of an elastic body. When the shape of the electromagnetic devices changes during the optimization process, a proper 3D finite element mesh can be easily obtained using the method from the initial mesh. For real engineering problems, the method guarantees a smooth shape with proper mesh quality, and maintains the same mesh topology as the initial mesh. Application of the optimum design of an electromagnetic shielding plate shows the effectiveness of the presented method.

  • Laser cladding processing allows rapid transfer of heat to the material being processed with minimum conduction into base metal. The effect of $CO_2$ laser cladding with high viscosity mixed powders was investigated. High viscosity mixed powder consists of bronze powder and flux that is used at a high temperature condition. The mixed powder has a high viscosity that it can be easily pasted over a curved or slope substrate. The device for mixed powder was designed and manufactured. It consists of the high viscosity mixed powder feeding system, the preheating system and the shielding gas system which prevents the clad layer from being oxidized. The results of experiment indicated that the feed rate of high viscosity mixed powder was important for later cladding with mixed powder feeding. The high viscosity mixed powder and substrate must be preheated to prevent porosity from breaking at the clad layer. The experimental result shows that the high viscosity mixed can be applied for laser cladding process.

  • A new optical-resistive voltage divider, which consists of light emitting diode, optic fiber, PIN-photo diode and a high qualify shielding resistive divider, whose total response time is 7.35 [ns], has been obtained. The optical to electrical signal converter was constructed with GaAsP series light emitting diode. The response characteristics have been verified by applying the Marx impulse voltage generator experimentally. Comparing with the performance of conventional resistive voltage divider, the characteristics of the proposed optical-resistive voltage divider are more excellent in step response and less sensitive to electromagnetic interference.

Voltammetric Analysis on a Disposable Microfluidic Electrochemical Cell

  • A microfabricated electrochemical cell comprising PDMS-based microchannel and in-channel gold microelectrodes was fabricated as a sensitive and a miniature alternative to the conventional electroanalytical systems. A reproducible fabrication procedure enabled patterning of multiple microelectrodes integrated within a PDMS-based fluidic network. The active area of each electrode was $200{\mu}m{\times}200{\mu}m$ with a gap of $200{\mu}m$ between the electrodes which resulted in a higher signal to noise ratio. Also, the PDMS layer served the purpose of shielding the electrical interferences to the measurements. Analytes such as potassium ferrocyanide; amino acid: cysteine and nucleoside: guanosine were characterized using the fabricated cell. The microchip was comparable to bulk electrochemical systems and its applicability was also demonstrated with flow injection based rapid amperometric detection of DNA samples. The device so developed shall find use as a disposable electrochemical cell for rapid and sensitive analysis of electroactive species in various industrial and research applications.

  • The objective of this study was to characterize Waveguide-Blow-Cutoff (WBC) array for Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) shield in air duct or water pipe, the typical pathway of pulse in indoor space with critical electronic device. A numerical investigation with three different WBC designs (circular, rectangular, and hexagonal or honeycomb) was conducted to satisfy recommended shielding effectiveness (SE) levels from 80 dB to 140 dB. Pressure drop between upstream and downstream of EMP shields based on WBC arrays was also investigated to understand air flow feature in air duct of HVAC system. Results showed that honeycomb geometry outperformed other shapes in terms of reducing the depth of EMP shield, thus providing better air flow in duct path with lower local loss coefficient in HVAC system under SE requirements.

  • Nowadays, there has been substantial interest in whether there is an association between electromagnetic field exposure and living environment. It is increased the demand that electromagnetic wave environment and its countermeasure. In the present study, we has applied the electromagnetic absorbent inorganic paint of 'I' corporations, and measured electromagnetic waves generated in new apartment before occupancy using the standard field electromagnetic wave generating device we developed. The measurement before occupancy was $100\~131V/m$, but the measurement after occupancy was $6.9\~8.0V/m$ less than 10V/m, the comprehensive electromagnetic wave limit allowed by TCO in Sweden. The implication is that domestic apartment are exposed to extremely poor electromagnetic wave environment. Nevertheless, there have been neither serious efforts to overcome this problem, nor its alternatives and related standards. Therefore, it is necessary to continue research of related fields to establish standards and plans to improve the situation.

  • This study proposes an structure that fixes the shielding device to two parts of the board by its two arranged clips. Said structure evenly distributes its loading/unloading load of the board and maintains the flatness of soldering area of the board. The structure of this study comprises a base part fixed to a printed circuit board and a clip part fixing a side wall of a shield can to the board, wherein the clip part is constituted with two clips fixable to two part of the shield can. Also, the structure of this study comprises a dented groove in order to easily solder the base part of clips and the printed circuit board. A mechanism is established and a design parameter was determined by a structure analysis and a vibration mode analysis. A single purpose machine for the production of the product was developed, the final workpiece was produced and the measuring-data and the computered-data was compared and reviewed.
