Effect of the initial imperfection on the response of the stainless steel shell structures

  • Analyzing the collapse behavior of thin-walled steel structures holds significant importance in ensuring their safety and longevity. Geometric imperfections present on the surface of metal materials can diminish both the durability and mechanical integrity of steel shells. These imperfections, encompassing local geometric irregularities and deformations such as holes, cavities, notches, and cracks localized in specific regions of the shell surface, play a pivotal role in the assessment. They can induce stress concentration within the structure, thereby influencing its susceptibility to buckling. The intricate relationship between the buckling behavior of these structures and such imperfections is multifaceted, contingent upon a variety of factors. The buckling analysis of thin-walled steel shell structures, similar to other steel structures, commonly involves the determination of crucial material properties, including elastic modulus, shear modulus, tensile strength, and fracture toughness. An established method involves the emulation of distributed geometric imperfections, utilizing real test specimen data as a basis. This approach allows for the accurate representation and assessment of the diversity and distribution of imperfections encountered in real-world scenarios. Utilizing defect data obtained from actual test samples enhances the model's realism and applicability. The sizes and configurations of these defects are employed as inputs in the modeling process, aiding in the prediction of structural behavior. It's worth noting that there is a dearth of experimental studies addressing the influence of geometric defects on the buckling behavior of cylindrical steel shells. In this particular study, samples featuring geometric imperfections were subjected to experimental buckling tests. These same samples were also modeled using Finite Element Analysis (FEM), with results corroborating the experimental findings. Furthermore, the initial geometrical imperfections were measured using digital image correlation (DIC) techniques. In this way, the response of the test specimens can be estimated accurately by applying the initial imperfections to FE models. After validation of the test results with FEA, a numerical parametric study was conducted to develop more generalized design recommendations for the stainless-steel shell structures with the initial geometric imperfection. While the load-carrying capacity of samples with perfect surfaces was up to 140 kN, the load-carrying capacity of samples with 4 mm defects was around 130 kN. Likewise, while the load carrying capacity of samples with 10 mm defects was around 125 kN, the load carrying capacity of samples with 14 mm defects was measured around 120 kN.

지하구조물 변위거동에 따른 콘크리트궤도의 손상영향 분석 (Evaluation on Damage Effect of Concrete Track induced by Underground Structure Displacement Behavior)

  • 본 연구는 인접굴착공사, 지반열화 및 지하수위의 변화에 따른 지하구조물 변위거동이 궤도 손상에 미치는 영향을 해석적으로 분석하였다. 연구대상인 콘크리트궤도는 침목플로팅궤도(STEDEF)와 사전제작형궤도(B2S)를 대상으로 분석하였다. 침목플로팅궤도는 콘크리트 도상과 침목이 분리된 궤도구조이다. 사전제작형궤도는 프리캐스트 슬래브를 이용하여 레일 및 체결장치를 조립하여 레일의 탄성거동을 유도하는 궤도구조이다. 수치해석을 위해 콘크리트 궤도별로 레일부터 콘크리트 도상까지 모두 3차원 요소로 모델링하였다. 또한 지하구조물 변위거동을 변수로 설정하여 콘크리트 도상의 손상영향을 분석하였다. 수치해석을 이용하여 융기 및 침하에 따른 콘크리트 도상 응력을 분석하였으며, 인장강도 및 전단강도와 비교하여 균열 발생 수준을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 동일한 융기 및 침하발생 시 사전제작형궤도보다 침목플로팅궤도가 취약한 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 최대 융기 및 침하부 기준으로 침목플로팅궤도의 균열발생 영향범위가 큰 것으로 분석되었다.

Evaluation of the quality characteristics of nitrogen gas-stunned chicken meat and small intestine

  • This study aimed to confirm the applicability of the new nitrogen (N2) gas stunning method in the broiler slaughtering process by comparing the meat and small intestine quality following different stunning methods (electrical, carbon dioxide (CO2), N2, and halal). Four treatments were compared: (i) electrical stunning (Elec), (ii) 80% CO2 gas stunning (CO2-gas), (iii) 98% N2 gas stunning (N2-gas), and (iv) the non-stunning method (halal). N2 gas stunning (98%) and the halal method were conducted at the pilot plant abattoir of the national institute of animal science, Korea, and electrical and 80% CO2 stunning were performed on the nearest commercial slaughter house. Meat pH24h, color (lightness, redness and yellowness), proximate composition, water holding capacity (WHC), cooking loss, and Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) were measured, and in the small intestine, pH24h, color, thickness, and WBSF were measured. The Elec treatment showed high lightness, yellowness, and low redness in both meat and the small intestine, indicated by a pale color; the CO2-gas treatment showed high redness, low lightness, and low yellowness, and the coloration of meat from the N2-gas treatment was intermediate between Elec and CO2-gas. For other quality traits, the N2-gas showed good results and was between Elec and CO2-gas. Additionally, severe stress (low pH in both meats), low WHC in meat, and cracked small intestine with numerous apertures were observed in the CO2-gas, and pale colored hemorrhagic breast meat was found in the Elec. Therefore, in view of animal welfare and quality traits of meat and the small intestine, 98% N2 gas can be considered in broiler stunning.

사면안정 해석과 댐 거동분석을 통한 Carsington Dam 파괴의 고찰 (Assessment of Carsington Dam Failure by Slope Stability and Dam Behavior Analyses)

  • 영국 잉글랜드 지방의 Carsington Dam의 파괴원인은 설계시 발견되지 못한 댐 상류 사면 하부의 황색점토층의 존재와 이미 존재하던 전단변형에 기인한 것으로 보고되었다. 설계시 황색 점토층과 이미 존재하던 전단변형을 고려하지 않고 전통적인 원호파괴 양상으로 검토된 사면의 안전율은 1.4 이상으로 나타났다. 그러나 댐 파괴후 황색 점토층과 이미 존재하던 전단변형을 고려한 사면의 안전율은 약 1.0으로 보고되었다. 또한 파괴후 사면에 대한 유한 요소 해석결과로 부터 파괴 토괴의 절편에 작용하는 수평력은 수평에 대해서 약 10。아래로 작용하고 있음이 보고되었다. 본 고에서는 Bishop의 간편법과 Janbu 방법 및 Morgenstern-Price 방법을 이용하여 원호형 사면파괴양상과 특정 파괴면을 따라서 일어나는 쐐기형 파괴양상에 대하여 사면안정을 검토하였으며, 이미 존재하던 전단변형과 이에 따른 토괴의 연속적인 거동은 이미 주어진 지반 특성을 이용한 강도정수와 간극수압비에 의하여 고려하였다. 그 결과 확생 점토층을 무시하고 원호형 파괴 양상에 대하여 Bishop의 간편법에 의한 설계 시점에서의 안전율은 1.387로 나타났으며(STABL), 파괴 후의 지반자료를 이용하고, 황색점토층을 고려한 안전율을 Janbu 방법의 경우 1.012(STABL), 그리고 Morgenstern-Price 방법의 경우 0.969을 보여주었다(MALE). 또한 Cam-Clay Model을 이용한 유한 요소 해석용 프로그램을 이용하여 댐 제체의 거동을 검토하였다. 이때 댐 제체의 성토 작업 및 압밀진행에 따른 간극수압변화와, 파괴시 혹은 파괴에 임박한 상태에서의 제체의 거동은 적절하게 가정된 지반의 응력-변형률 관계와 간극수압특성에 의하여 고려되었다. 그 결과 응력 및 변위가 심하게 발생하는 지역은 황색 점토층이었으며 이로부터 황색 점토층에서 부터 파괴면이 생성되어 다른 지역으로 전파되었음을 유추할 수 있었다.form trap with 2.88[eV] deep of injected space charge from the chathode in the crystaline regions. The origin of ${\gamma}$ peak was responsible to the process combined with the depolarization of "CH$_3$", chain segment, with the activation energy of carriers from the shallow trap with 0.4[eV], in he amorphous regions.의 증발산율은 우기의 기상자료를 이용하여 구한 결과 0.05 - 0.10 mm/hr 의 범위로서 이로 인한 강우손실량은 큰 의미가 없음을 알았다.재발이 나타난 3례의 환자를 제외한 9례 (75%)에서는 현재까지 재발소견을 보이지 않고 있다. 이러한 결과는 다른 보고자들과 유사한 결과를 보이고 있지만 아직까지 증례가 많지 않기 때문에 생존율을 얻기에는 미흡

시설재배 참외 수확 로봇용 엔드이펙터의 설계 요인 분석 (Design Factor Analysis of End-Effector for Oriental Melon Harvesting Robot in Greenhouse Cultivation)

  • 본 연구는 시설재배에서 참외를 수확할 수 있는 로봇의 엔드이펙터를 개발하기 위한 전단계로서, 참외의 엔드이펙트 중에서 소프트 핸드링이 가능한 그립퍼와 참외줄기를 절단하는 커터를 설계하기 위해 참외의 기하학, 압축, 절단, 마찰 특성 등을 분석하였다. 그 결과 참외의 길이는 평균 108mm, 직경은 중간지점에서 평균 70mm, 중량은 평균 188g, 부피는 평균 333mL, 진원도는 평균 3.8mm로 나타났다. 참외의 중량(W)에 대하여 길이(L)와 직경(D2)을 변수로 하는 식 $W=L^a{\times}D_2^b$로부터 비선형 회귀분석을 실시한 결과 a는 2.0279, b는 -0.9998의 상수값을 가지는 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 참외줄기의 지름은 평균 3.8mm이며, 참외 줄기는 중심으로부터 반경 5mm 범위 내에서 대부분 분포하였다. 참외의 항복치와 압축강도, 경도의 평균값은 각각 $36.5N/cm^2$, $185.7N/cm^2$, $636.7N/cm^2$이며, 참외 줄기의 절단력과 절단강도는 각각 $2.87{\times}10^{-2}N$$5.60N/cm^2$로 나타났다. 참외의 마찰계수는 고무가 0.609으로 가장 높게 나타났고, 그 다음으로 알루미늄이 0.393, 스테인레스강이 0.177, 테프론이 0.079로 나타났다. 분석된 자료를 토대로 엔드이펙터 설계시 동작에 따른 위치 오차와 안전율을 감안하여, 그립퍼의 및 커터의 크기, 선회반경, 설치위치, 구동모터의 동력, 재료 및 재질의 선정 등에 적용할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다.

한반도 동남부 신생대 지각변형의 주요 특징과 지구조적 의의 (Characteristics of the Cenozoic crustal deformation in SE Korea and their tectonic implications)

  • 한반도 동남부는 신생대 동안 지구조 환경의 변화에 따라 다중 지각변형을 겪었다. 신생대 동안의 주요 지구조 사건과 이에 따른 한반도 동남부에서 발생한 지각변형의 주요 특징들을 정리하면 다음과 같다. (1) 인도-아시아의 충돌과 태평양판의 이동방향 변화기(약 50${\sim}$43 Ma): 인도판의 충돌에 인해 동아시아 대륙이 동쪽의 태평양판쪽으로 밀려가면서 해구의 퇴각이 발생하였으며, 태평양판의 이동방향이 북북서에서 서북서방향으로 회전되었다. 그 결과 한반도 동남부에는 동서 내지 서북서-동남동방향의 인장력이 발생하였고 이로 인해 남${\sim}$북북동방향의 염기성 암맥군이 관입하였다.(48 Ma 전후). (2) 동해 화장기(약 25${\sim}$16 Ma): 남북 내지 북북서-남남동방향으로 동해가 활발히 확장됨에 따라 한반도 동쪽 해안선을 따라 우수향 전단력이 발생하였다. 이로 인해 한반도 동남부에는 북북서-남남동방향의 우수향 주향이동단층운동이 발생하였으며 단층의 우향 굴곡부 혹은 오버스텝 부분에는 당겨열림형 퇴적분지가 형성되었다. 기하 및 운동학적 특징에 따라 퇴적분지들은 평행사변형과 쐐기형 확장 분지로 나누어진다. 또한 이 시기에는 지괴가 시계방향으로 수평 회전되고 북서향으로 경동되었으며 일부 퇴적분지들은 확장 축이 동에서 서쪽으로 이동되는 전파열개 과정을 겪었다. 또한 약 17Ma경에는 이러한 지각변형을 가장 서쪽에서 규제하는 연일구조선이 우수향 주향이동단층으로 운동하기 시작하였다. (3) 일본 남서부 시계방향 회전기(약 15Ma): 필리핀해판의 북상으로 이즈-보닌 아크와 일본 남서부가 충돌해 일본 남서부의 시계방향 회전운동이 발생하였다. 이로 인해 대한해협에는 북서향 압축력이 가해졌으며 한반도 동남부에서는 응력반전으로 인해 퇴적분지의 확장이 종결되고 지괴의 융기와 국지적인 지괴의 반시계방향 수평회전운동이 발생하였다. (4) 동서방향 압축응력기(약 5Ma 이후): 태평양판의 섭입각도가 얕아지고 아무르판이 동진함으로써 한반도 동남부 특히, 울산단층 동부에 상반서향의 충상단층들이 형성되어 지괴가 융기되었으며, 최근 한반도 지진 발생의 주요 원인이 되고 있다.

미세 배선 적용을 위한 Ta/Cu 적층 구조에 따른 계면접착에너지 평가 및 분석 (Effect of Ta/Cu Film Stack Structures on the Interfacial Adhesion Energy for Advanced Interconnects)

  • Cu 배선(interconnect) 적용을 위한 다층박막의 적층 구조에 따른 최적 계면접착에너지(interfacial adhesion energy, Gc) 평가방법을 도출하기 위해, Ta, Cu 및 tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS-SiO2) 박막 계면의 정량적 계면접착에너지를 double cantilever beam(DCB) 및 4-점 굽힘(4-point bending, 4-PB) 시험법을 통해 비교 평가하였다. 평가결과, Ta확산방지층이 적용된 시편(Cu/Ta, Cu/Ta/TEOS-SiO2)에서는 두 가지 평가방법 모두 반도체 전/후 공정에서 박리가 발생하지 않는 산업체 통용 기준인 5 J/㎡ 보다 높게 측정되었다. Ta/Cu 시편의 경우 DCB 시험에서만 5 J/㎡ 보다 낮게 측정되었다. 또한, DCB시험 보다 4-PB시험으로 측정된 Gc가 더 높았다. 이는 계면파괴역학 이론에 따라 이종재료의 계면균열 선단에서 위상각의 증가로 인한 계면 거칠기 및 소성변형에 의한 에너지 손실이 증가 하는것에 기인한다. 4-PB시험결과, Ta/Cu 및 Cu/Ta계면은 5 J/㎡ 이상의 높은 계면접착에너지를 보이므로, 계면접착에너지 관점에서는 Ta는 Cu배선의 확산방지층(diffusion barrier layer) 및 피복층(capping layer)으로 적용 가능할 것으로 생각된다. 또한, 배선 집적공정 및 소자의 사용환경에서 열팽창 계수 차이에 의한 열응력 및 화학적-기계적 연마 (chemical mechanical polishing)에 의한 박리는 전단응력이 포함된 혼합모드의 영향이 크므로 4-PB 시험으로 측정된 Gc와 연관성이 더 클 것으로 판단된다.

  • The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70$\pm$1.32mmHg/min)compared to CF dialyzers(4.32$\pm$0.55mmHg/min)(p<0.05). However, there was no observable difference in the UFR between the two dialyzers. Neither APD nor UFR showed any significant increase with an increasing number of reuses for up to more than 20reuses. A substantial number of failures observed in APD(larger than 20mmHe/min)on the reused dialyzers(2 out of 40 CP and S out 26 C-DAK) were attributed to the Possible damage on the fibers. The CF 15-11 HFDs which failed APD test did not show changes in the UFR compared to normal dialyzers indicating that APD is a more sensitive test than UFR test to evaluate the integrity of the fibers. 30527 T00401030527 ^x For quantitative measurement of reflected light from a clinical diagnostic strip, a prototype old reflectance photometer was designed. The strip loader and cassette were made to obtain more accurate reflectance parameters. The strip was illuminated at 45˚c through optical fiber and the intensity of reflected light was determined at rectanguLat angle using a photodiode. The kubelka-munk coefficient and reflection optical density were determined ar four different wavelengths(500, 550, 570 and 610nm) for blood glucose strip. The purpose of this study is to identify major geometrical differences between Korean femurs 3nd others that we believe belong to Caucasians so that we would be able to get insights into the femoral component design that fits Asians including Koreans. We utilized computerized tomography (CT) images of femurs extracted from cadavers. The CT images were transformed into bitmap data by using a film scanner, and then analyzed by using a commercially available software called Image v.1.0 and a Macintosh IIci computer.The resulting data were compared with already published data. The major results show that the geometry of the Korean femurs is significantly different from that of Caucasians: (1) the anteversion angle and the canal flare index are greater by the amount of approximately 8˚ and 0.5, respectively, (2) the shape of the isthmus cross section is more round, and (3) the distance between the teaser trochanter and the proximal border of the isthmus is shelter by about 15 mm. The results suggested that the femoral component suitable for Asians should be different from the currently-used components designed and manufactured mostly by European or American companies. 30537 T00401030537 ^x It is well known that nonlinear propagation characteristics of the wave in the tissue may give very useful information for the medical diagnoisis. In this paper, a new method to detect nonlinear propagation characteristics of the internal vibration in the tissue for the low frequency mechanical vibration by using bispectral analysis is proposed. In the method, low frequency vibration of f0( = 100Hz) is applied on the surface of the object, and the waveform of the internal vibration x (t) is measured from Doppler frequency modulation of silmultaneously transmitted probing ultrasonic waves. Then, the bispectra of the signal x (t) at the frequencies (f0, f0) and (f0, 2f0) are calculated to estimate the nonlinear propagation characteristics as their magnitude ratio, w here since bispectrum is free from the gaussian additive noise we can get the value with high S/N. Basic experimental system is constructed by using 3.0 MHz probing ultrasonic waves and the several experiments are carried out for some phantoms.   • The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70${\pm}$1.32mmHg/min)compared to CF dialyzers(4.32${\pm}$0.55mmHg/min)(p<0.05). However, there was no observable difference in the UFR between the two dialyzers. Neither APD nor UFR showed any significant increase with an increasing number of reuses for up to more than 20reuses. A substantial number of failures observed in APD(larger than 20mmHe/min)on the reused dialyzers(2 out of 40 CP and S out 26 C-DAK) were attributed to the Possible damage on the fibers. The purpose of this study is to identify major geometrical differences between Korean femurs 3nd others that we believe belong to Caucasians so that we would be able to get insights into the femoral component design that fits Asians including Koreans. We utilized computerized tomography (CT) images of femurs extracted from cadavers. The CT images were transformed into bitmap data by using a film scanner, and then analyzed by using a commercially available software called Image v.1.0 and a Macintosh IIci computer.The resulting data were compared with already published data. The major results show that the geometry of the Korean femurs is significantly different from that of Caucasians: (1) the anteversion angle and the canal flare index are greater by the amount of approximately 8˚ and 0.5, respectively, (2) the shape of the isthmus cross section is more round, and (3) the distance between the teaser trochanter and the proximal border of the isthmus is shelter by about 15 mm. We obtained a two-dimensional current density distribution within a phantom by processing the real and imaginary MR images from a 4.77 NMR machine. Optimal stimulus parameters, which can minimize muscle fatigue and can achieve effective muscle contraction were determined in slow and fast muscles in Sprague-Dawley rats. Stimulus patterns of our stimulator were designed to simulate electromyographic activity monitored during locomotion of normal subjects. Muscle types of the lower extremity were classified according to their mechanical property of contraction, which are slow muscle (msoleus m.) and fast muscle (medial gastrocneminus m., rectus femoris m., vastus lateralis m.). Optimal parameters of electrical stimulation for slow muscles were 20 Hz, 0.2 ms square pulse. For fast muscle, 40 Hz, 0.3 ms square pulse was optimal to produce repeated contraction. Higher stimulus intensity was required when synergistic muscles were stimulated simultaneously than when they were stimulated individually. Electrical stimulation for each muscle was designed to generate bipedal locomotion, so that individual muscles alternate contraction and relaxation to simulate stance and swing phases. Portable electrical stimulator with 16 channels built in microprocessor was constructed and applied to paraplegic patients due to lumbar cord injury. The main unit includes a 12.1" TFT color LCD, a main CPU board, and peripherals such as a module controller, Ethernet LAN card, video card, rotate/push button controller, etc. The main unit can connect at maximum three module cases each of which can accommodate up to 7 parameter modules. They include the modules for electrocardiograph, respiration, invasive blood pressure, noninvasive blood pressure, temperature, and SpO2 with Plethysmograph.

RBS 약축 용접모멘트접합부의 내진성능 평가 (Cyclic Seismic Performance of RBS Weak-Axis Welded Moment Connections)

  • H형강 철골 모멘트 골조에서는 기둥의 강축 방향 용접 모멘트접합부를 활용하는 것이 구조적으로 가장 이상적이다. 하지만, 모멘트 골조가 직교하는 경우, 기둥의 약축 방향으로도 용접 모멘트접합부를 사용해야 한다. 국내에서는 특히 강축 및 약축 방향 모두를 용접 모멘트접합부를 자주 사용하는 관행이 있다. 대표적인 연성내진상세인 RBS(reduced beam section, 보단면감소)접합부의 경우 국내외적으로 강축접합 위주로 실험연구가 진행되어 약축 RBS 용접모멘트접합부에 대한 실험자료가 매우 희소하다. 본 연구에서는 RBS를 도입한 약축 용접 모멘트접합부의 내진성능을 실험적으로 고찰하였다. Gilton-Uang (2002)의 선행연구를 참고하여 보 플랜지는 연속판과 맞댐용접하고 웨브는 전단이음판과 C-형 필릿용접부로 설계하여 실험을 수행하였다. 보에 사용된 강재가 내진용 강재가 아닌 일반 SS400 강재임에도 불구하고 3% 이상의 소성회전각을 발휘하였다. 제한된 결과이긴 하지만, 전단이음판과 보 웨브 사이의 C-형 필릿용접부 설계에서 보 웨브에 작용하는 휨모멘트와 전단력의 편심의 영향을 구체적으로 고찰할 필요가 있는 것으로 판단된다. 본 실험결과를 토대로 전단이음판 부근의 보 웨브 파단을 방지할 수 있는 C-형 필릿용접 형상 및 설계방안을 제안하였다. 보 플랜지와 연속판의 완전용입 용접부는 맞댄이음(butt joint) 형식이 되어 국부좌굴에 취약하고 이로 인해 피로파괴가 발생하는 경향이 있으므로 용접작업에 지장이 없는 범위에서 용접접근공(스켈럽)의 크기를 최소화할 필요가 있다. RBS형상, 스틱아웃, 트림, 연속판 두께 증가 등과 같이 이미 검증된 약축 모멘트 용접접합부의 내진상세들은 따르는 것이 바람직하다.
