This study is done to evaluate how existence of shear-span ratio and shear reinforcing bar effects on shear performance from through shear experiment using PVA fiber reinforced ferroconcrete building. Ratio of shear-span was set 1, 1.7, and arrangement of shear reinforcing bar was set with KCI2012 regulation. In result, subject with less shear-span ratio, and shear reinforcing bar with arrangement of bar shows high stiffness. Subjects with high shear-span ratio show large difference depending on existence of shear reinforcing bar. Therefore, theoretical shear strength followed by CEB code underestimates experimental shear strength by 43.9%. Shear strength of the deep beam with headed bars is more affected by the bearing strength of head than the bond strength of bar.
One of engineered woods, glued laminated timber (GLT), can provide a constant level of performance and desired strength even if the quality of wood is low. Due to this fact, there is a growing interest in GLT using domestic species and related research has been carried out continuously. In addition, GLT is popularly being applied to the long-span or high-rise structures overseas. However, KBC 2016 does not allow the engineered woods to be used for middle and high-rise buildings by limiting height. Therefore, a proper design procedure and rationale should be clearly presented by the help of performance-based seismic design. With this background, the goal of this study is to establish a specific procedure for design of a 9-story building with RC shear walls and GLT frames according to the performance-based design of KBC 2016. The performance objectives were set according to KBC and the acceptance criteria for each goal were defined. The RC shear walls and GLT frames were designed by concrete and wood structure requirements, respectively. Analytical models were developed to reflect their nonlinear features, and both nonlinear static and dynamic analyses were conducted. Performance evaluation results showed that the shear walls have insufficient shear strength, so they were re-designed. Consequently, it has been confirmed that GLT frames can be applied to a 9-story office building with the assistance of RC shear walls and performance-based seismic design.
As limited well-documented experimental data are available for assessing the attributes of different deformation components of flanged walls, few appropriate models have been established for predicting the inelastic responses of flanged walls, especially those of asymmetrical flanged walls. This study presents the experimental results for three large-scale T-shaped reinforced concrete walls and examines the variations in the flexural, shear, and sliding components of deformation with the total deformation over the entire loading process. Based on the observed deformation behavior, a simple model based on moment-curvature analysis is established to estimate flexural deformations, in which the changes in plastic hinge length are considered and the deformations due to strain penetration are modeled individually. Based on the similar gross shapes of the curvature and shear strain distributions over the wall height, a proportional relationship is established between shear displacement and flexural rotation. By integrating the deformations due to flexure, shear, and strain penetration, a new load-deformation analytical model is proposed for flexure-dominant flanged walls. The proposed model provides engineers with a simple, accurate modeling tool appropriate for routine design work that can be applied to flexural walls with arbitrary sections and is capable of determining displacements at any position over the wall height. By further simplifying the analytical model, a simple procedure for estimating the ultimate displacement capacity of flanged walls is proposed, which will be valuable for performance-based seismic designs and seismic capacity evaluations.

The growing quantity of tires and building trash piling up in landfills poses a serious threat to the stability of the ecosystem. Researchers are exploring ways to reduce and use such byproducts of the construction industry in an effort to promote greener building practices. Thus, using recycled crumb rubber from scrap tires in concrete manufacturing is important for the industry's long-term viability. This study examines the proportion of waste rubber in fiber form, specifically at weight percentages of 5%, 10%, and 15%. Moreover, the study examines the shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams. A total of twelve RC beam specimens, each sized 100 mm by 150 mm by 1000 mm (w × d × L), were constructed and positioned to the test. Various mixtures were designed with different levels of scrap tire rubber content (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) and Stirrup Vol. Ratio (2.10, 2.80, and 3.53) in reinforced concrete beams. The findings indicate that the inclusion of scrap rubber in concrete leads to a decrease in both the mechanical characteristics and weight of the material. This is mostly attributed to the lower strength and stiffness of the rubberized concrete. Furthermore, estimations generated by a variety of design codes were examined alongside the obtained data. In order to make a comparison between the estimates provided by the different codes such as ACI 318-14, CEB-FIB and Iranian national building codes, a calculation was done to determine the ratio of the experimental shear strength to the anticipated shear strength for each code.
It has been known that debonding failures between CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) and concrete in the strengthened RC beams are initiated by the peeling of the sheets in the region of combined large moment and shear forces, being accompanied by the large shear deformation after flexural cracks. These shear deformation effects are seldom occurred in small-scale model tests, but debondings due to the large shear deformation effects are often observed in a full-scale model tests. The premature debonding failure of CFS, therefore, must be avoided to confirm the design strength of full-scale RC beam in strengthening designs. The reinforcing details, so- called 'U-Shape fiber wrap at mid-span' which wrapped the RC flexural members around the webs and tension face at critical section with CFS additionally, were proposed in this study to prevent the debonding of CFS. Other reinforcing detail, so called 'U-Shape fiber wrap at beam end' were included in this tests and comparisons were made between them.
Existing reinforced concrete building structures have seismic vulnerabilities under successive earthquakes (or mainshock-aftershock sequences) due to their inadequate column detailing, which leads to shear failure in the columns. To improve the shear capacity and ductility of the shear-critical columns, a fiber-reinforced polymer jacketing system has been widely used for seismic retrofit and repair. This study proposed a numerical modeling technique for damaged reinforced concrete columns repaired using the fiber-reinforced polymer jacketing system and validated the numerical responses with past experimental results. The column model well captured the experimental results in terms of lateral forces, stiffness, energy dissipation and failure modes. The proposed column modeling method enables to predict post-repair effects on structures initially damaged by mainshock.

Reinforced concrete corbel beams (span to depth ratio of a corbel is less than one) are designed with primary reinforcement bars to account for bending moment and with the secondary reinforcement placed parallel to the primary reinforcement (shear stirrups) to resist shear force. It is interesting to note that most of the available analytical procedures employ empirical formulas for the analysis of reinforced concrete corbels. In the present work, a generalized and a simple strut and tie models were employed for the analysis of reinforced corbel beams. The models were benchmarked against experimental results available in the literature. It was shown here that increase of shear stirrups increases the load carrying capacity of reinforced concrete corbel beams. The effect of horizontal load on the load carrying capacity of the corbel beams has also been examined in the present paper. It is observed from the strut and tie models that the resistance of the corbel beam subjected to combined horizontal and vertical load did not change with increase in shear stirrups if the failure of the corbel is limited by concrete crushing. In other words, the load carrying capacity was independent of the horizontal load when failure of the beam occurred due to concrete crushing.
In the present paper, a method for identifying damage in a multi storeyed shear building structure is presented using minimum number of modal parameters of the structure. A damage at any level of the structure may lead to a major failure if the damage is not attended at appropriate time. Hence an early detection of damage is essential. The proposed identification methodology requires experimentally determined sparse modal data of any particular mode as input to detect the location and extent of damage in the structure. Here, the first natural frequency and corresponding partial mode shape values are used as input to the model and results are compared by changing the sensor placement locations at different floors to conclude the best location of sensors for accurate damage identification. Initially experimental data are simulated numerically by solving eigen value problem of the damaged structure with inclusion of random noise on the vibration characteristics. Reliability of the procedure has been demonstrated through a few examples of multi storeyed shear structure with different damage scenarios and various noise levels. Validation of the methodology has also been done using dynamic data obtained through experiment conducted on a laboratory scale steel structure.
1) As result of specimen with shear reinforcing bar of reinforced concrete beam, ductile coefficient of specimen was high in specimen containing Cockle shells based on non-mixed specimen. In increase rate of specimens, yield strength was similar in specimens containing Cockle shells and non-mixed specimens and maximum strength was higher in specimen containing Cockle shells. 2) To sum up the above experimental results, it is found that using splitted Cockle shells as aggregate for concrete by 10%~ 15% showed the same or higher compressive strength and shear strength as concretes using general aggregate and it can be used as substitute aggregate of concrete. It is considered that for future use of splitted Cockle shells as substitute concrete aggregate, continuous researches of its durability, applicability and economy are needed.
The present study aims to derive optimal interface treatment conditions for emulating a monolithic construction. The joints in this construction are formed through the bonding shear evaluation method during the placement of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) and normal strength concrete (NSC). The evaluation items include push-off tests for homogeneous UHPC + UHPC and heterogeneous NSC + UHPC. The experimental samples comprised a monolithic placement as the baseline, two levels for the separated placement according to the compression strength of concrete, and five levels for the interface treatment. The increase in the number of grooves and their cross-sectional areas only slightly influenced the bonding shear performance. The optimal interface treatment method for the homogeneous UHPC + UHPC construction grooves was at least 30mm. The heterogeneous NSC + UHPC construction should utilize waterjet roughening to expose the aggregate for the increased roughness.
