  • We propose a BASK (Binary Amplitude Shift Keying) system for Giga-bit Modem in millimeter band. The proposed system consists of a high speed shutter of the transmitter and a repeater of the receiver. The shutter of the proposed system is introduced for pulse shaping to improve the intersymbol interference (ISI). The repeater consists of several stage converters. A converter is constructed with a low pass filter and a limiter. The repeater can improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and make the rectangular pulse train. The proposed system is a simple system that uses conversion method without IF (Intermediate Frequency) process.

  • In this paper, a noncoherent code tracking loop is designed for 3GPP MODEM and its performance is analyzed in terms of steady-state jitter variance and transient response characteristics. An analytical closed-form formula for steady-state jitter variance is Int derived for AWGN environments as a general function of a pulse-shaping filter, timing offset, signal-to-interference ratio, and loop bandwidth, together with the analysis on the transient response characteristic of a tracking loop. Based on the analysis, the code tracking loop with variable loop bandwidth that is efficient for full digital H/W implementation is designed and its performance is compared with that of the code tracking loop with fixed loop bandwidth, along with the verification by computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed the performance enhancement of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing/Quadrature Phase Shift Keying Modulation-Digital Microwave Radio(OFDM/QPSK-DMR) system using Band Limited-Pulse Shaping Filter(BL-PSF) over microwave channel environments. For performance enhancement, the one-tap adaptive equalizer is adopted in the OFDM/QPSK-DMR system and than both BER and signature curve performance are compared with those of single carrier DMR system. Computer simulations confirm that the OFDM/QPSK-DMR system using 16 sub-carrier increase the fade margin about 2 dB over microwave channel environments and that of performance using one-tap adaptive equalizer is highly increased the fade margin as the number of sub-carriers is larger.

  • In this paper, we designed Interpolation FIR(Finite Impulse Response) filter and 1-bit SDM(Sigma- Delta Modulator) for small digital audio speaker, which has low power consumption and high output characteristics. In order to achieve high linearity and low distortion performance of the systems, we adopt Type I Chevychev FIR filter which has equiripple characteristics in the pass band and proposed high efficient FIR filter structure. SDM is the most efficient modulation technique among the noise shaping techniques. In this paper, we implemented SDM using CIFB(Cascade of Intergrators, Feed-Back) which is generally used in DAC of small digital audio speakers. The proposed SDM structure can achieve high SNR, high-efficiency characteristics and low power consumption in mobile devices. Also considering manufacture of SoC(System on Chip), we performed simulation with Matlab and Verilog HDL to obtain optimal number of operational bits and verified a good experimental results.

  • In this paper, the prototype of one-channel gamma-ray spectroscope for automatic radiopharmaceutical systhesis system was designed and characterized. The prototype employed CZT (CdZnTe) spear detector for gamma-ray detection and employed analog-type signal processing method. A radioactive sample Co-60 was used for measuring performance of the gamma-ray spectroscope and energy spectrum is gained with bandwidth of 1173keV. The analog board is made up of SF (shaping filter) and PHA (peak and hold amplifier) for shaping CZT output signal appropriately and ADC (analog to digital converter) and FPGA (field programmable gate array) for drawing gamma-ray spectrum by counting the digitalized gamma-ray signal data.

  • In this study, we delve into the effects of personalization algorithms on the creation of "filter bubbles," which can isolate individuals intellectually by reinforcing their pre-existing biases, particularly through personalized Google searches. By setting up accounts with distinct ideological learnings-progressive and conservative-and employing deep neural networks to simulate user interactions, we quantitatively confirmed the existence of filter bubbles. Our investigation extends to the deployment of an LSTM model designed to assess political orientation in text, enabling us to bias accounts deliberately and monitor their increasing ideological inclinations. We observed politically biased search results appearing over time in searches through biased accounts. Additionally, the political bias of the accounts continued to increase. These results provide numerical evidence for the existence of filter bubbles and demonstrate that these bubbles exert a greater influence on search results over time. Moreover, we explored potential solutions to mitigate the influence of filter bubbles, proposing methods to promote a more diverse and inclusive information ecosystem. Our findings underscore the significance of filter bubbles in shaping users' access to information and highlight the urgency of addressing this issue to prevent further political polarization and media habit entrenchment. Through this research, we contribute to a broader understanding of the challenges posed by personalized digital environments and offer insights into strategies that can help alleviate the risks of intellectual isolation caused by filter bubbles.

  • Input shaping method is to convolute input shaper, which is sequence of impulses, with reference input command not to excite the natural frequency of system. To reduce residual vibration for the ch ange of frequency, the number of impulses should be increased. Until now, amplitudes and time interval of those has been searched from the derivative of residual vibration. However, if time interval of impulses is fixed as the half of vibration period of system, input shaper H(z) in z-domain becomes (I-pz-1)n/K in which increasing n is the mean that robustness for change of parameter is improved. Also, design of many types of input shapers in z-domain is very easy because sensitivity curve is displayed with $\mid$H(z)zn$\mid$$\times$100. In the z-domain, EI(Extra-Insensitive) input shaper could be designed without solving nonlinear simultaneous equations as design in continuous time domain. In addition to, the design possibility of input shaper for a damped system was shown.

  • In ground vehicles, the increasing demand for safety and ride comfort which are trade-off relation, especially at high speeds, has led to the development od actively controlled suspensions. The LQG/LTR controller can be used to design a robust feedback control system that deals with disturbance rejection properties as well as insensitivity to modelling errors and sensor noise. And when the disturbance can not be measured but is limited within a certain frequency range, a bandpass feedback to eliminate the disturbance response can be used. In this paper, hybrid controller cosisted of bandpass feedback controller and LQG/LTR controller is applied to a quarter-car model moving on a randomly profiled road. The random road profile considered as colored noise is shaped from white noise by use of shaping filter. The performance of the hybrid control system is compared with that of an LQG/LTR controlled system.

  • This paper designs a looper-tension controller for strip top-tail parts in hot strip finishing mills. A three-degree linear model of the looper-tension system is derived by a Taylor's linearization method, where the actuator's dynamics are ignored because of their fast responses. A feedforward shaping controller for the strip top part and a feedforward model reference controller for the strip tail part are respectively designed, they are combined with an ILQ(Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) feedback controller for the strip middle part. It is shown from by a computer simulation that the proposed controller is very effective to the strip top-tail parts including the middle part.
