General coil spring has linearity. However, disc spring has non-linearity so that using this non-linearity disc spring can be designed to do shock-absorbing in cases we need because shock response also has non-linearity. By changing the shape and stacking number, it is satisfactory with response of displacement, velocity and acceleration. Conventionally, disc spring was used to control the vibration against huge load and limited space. However, it is limitedly used because of difficulty of the designing guidance. Therefore, disc spring is needed to study further in order to apply it widely. Response of disc spring is compared to response of coil spring by changing $h_o/t$ ratio with computer simulation and the usage of disc spring is increased through analysis of effect of design factors. The purpose of this paper is that the shock response of disc spring is calculated through numerical simulation and effect of $h_o/t$ and stiffness is analyzed to broad usage so that design factor of disc spring is presented.
Dynamic behavior of rock structures depends largely on the dynamic characteristics of ground and input earthquake wave. For blocky rocks with intense discontinuities, the mechanical characteristics of blocks and structural and mechanical characteristics of discontinuities affect overall behavior. In this study, UDEC was adopted to evaluate the dynamic behavior of rocks with various structural characteristics. Obtained results were compared to those of $FLAC^{2D}$, a continuum analysis, and the validity of the method was examined for dynamic analysis of discontinuous rocks for earthquake. Analysis considering the discontinuity showed significant changes in structural shape by the influence of joint behavior, and the behavior by continuum analysis was overestimated.
Nemerical algorithms were developed to analyze the behavior of the double lining as well as ground mass separately or simultaneously. A lining interface element was especially developed, verified and applied to the study on the coupled interaction of shotcrete and the concrete lining. It could be known fro parameter studys on double lining support systems that as the contact surface between shotcrete and concrete lining was rougher, the more decreased bearing capacity against the cracking of the system. If the thickness of the shotcrete increased, the bearing capacity of the double lining also increased linearly with the thickness. If the thickness of the concrete lining increased, the bearing capacity of the double lining had the relationship of the characteristic S-shape of a sigmoid function with the thickness. When the thickness increased over a given value, it was not useful to increase more the thickness because bearing capacity had no remarkable change. It could be concluded that the behavior of the shotcrete and concrete lining was generally reversed before and after the ratio of horizontal to vertical earth preassure of 1.0 and 0.5 respectively. Therefore, we could guess that the movement which two shotcrete and concrete lining deflect toward each other around the crown caused a friction between two linings and thus this disadvantageous effect could contribute to reducing the bearing capacity against the cracking.
A five-month old female Great Dane with a history of depression and convulsion was submitted to the Pathology and Diagnosis Reference Division of National Veterinary Research and Quarantine service. The dog had ingested concentrated antifreeze and died 12 days after the sudden onset of clinical signs. Main gross lesion was limited to swollen kidneys with diffusely fine granularity on the cut surface. Principle microscopic lesions were focused on the kidneys including dilated Bowman's space, thickened glomerular basement membrane, many light yellowish crystals, and proteinaceous casts in some tubules. Some neutrophils and lymphocytes were focally infiltrated in interstitium of the cortex and medulla. Crystals were angular or quite irregular in shape and arranged in sheave or rosette form. Under polarized light, the crystals were birefringent, which is typical of calcium oxalate crystals. Crystals were more concentrated in the cortex than in the medulla. A few crystals were also observed in the small blood vessels of the brain. Based upon the history of ingestion of antifreeze and the identification of calcium oxalate crystals in the tissue sections of the kidney and brain, this case was diagnosed as ethylene glycol toxicosis in a dog.

Deposition of thin films using magnetron sputtering plasmas is a well-developed, classical technology. However, detailed investigations using advanced diagnostics are insufficient in magnetron sputtering, in comparison with plasma-aided dry etching and plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. In this talk, we will show examples of diagnostic works on magnetron sputtering employing metal targets. Diagnostic methods which have fine spatial resolutions are suitable for magnetron sputtering plasmas since they have significant spatial distributions. We are using two-dimensional laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy, in which the plasma space is illuminated by a tunable laser beam with a planer shape. A charge-coupled device camera with a gated image intensifier is used for taking the picture of the image of laser-induced fluorescence formed on the planer laser beam. The picture of laser-induced fluorescence directly represents the two-dimensional distribution of the atom density probed by the tunable laser beam, when an intense laser with a relatively wide line-width is used. When a weak laser beam with a relatively narrow linewidth is used, the laser-induced fluorescence represents the density distribution of atoms which feel the laser wavelength to be resonant via the Doppler shift corresponding to their velocities. In this case, we can obtain the velocity distribution function of atoms by scanning the wavelength of the laser beam around the line center.

There are many methods of making cement spacer in patients who require a two-staged operation for humeral head osteomyelitis. However, limitation of motion after the first surgery-due to inadequate size and insufficient intra-articular space for second surgery-remain to be an issue. To mitigate this issue, we made a cement spacer with the same size and shape of the patient humeral head. Four patients with humeral head osteomyelitis were enrolled in this study. To make the cement spacer, we used the Mimics program, and designed the molding box by a reverse engineering technique. We evaluated the range of motion and pain using a Constant score. The mean abduction was $50^{\circ}$($40^{\circ}-60^{\circ}$), forward flexion was $50^{\circ}$ ($30^{\circ}-70^{\circ}$), and average Constant score was 47.75 (44-52). Three-dimensional printed molding technique is one of the effective methods for humeral head osteomyelitis allowing for daily activities prior to the second surgery.
This study was intended to research how such Japonisme affected the western fashion and to consider that the unique Japanese fashion was implemented in the western mode as the traditional aesthetic sense got jointed with the western culture together and was expressed as the modern Japonisme beauty. The beauty of 'Date' was the aesthetic sense created focused on the noble culture of public family. On the contrary, 'Iki', 'Wabi', 'Sabi' and 'Shibusa' is the Japanese lower middle class's universal living aesthetics. 'Kawaii' is influence on an animation, cartoon and character industry as well as the whole world’s fashion style as one of the common aesthetic sense of the world people in the modern time. That is, Japanese fashion designers expressed the human body with such the aesthetic sense by the design of shape, space, fusion, amusement through clothes. It could be concluded that they created an autonomous amusement’s design world over the visual beauty of human body.

A fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) fixed prosthesis is an innovative alternative to a traditional metal restoration, as it is a conservative treatment method. This case report demonstrates a detailed procedure for restoring a missing anterior tooth with an FRC. A 44-year-old woman visited our department with an avulsed tooth that had fallen out on the previous day and was completely dry. This tooth was replanted, but it failed after one year. A semi-direct technique was used to fabricate a FRC fixed partial prosthesis for its replacement. The FRC framework and the pontic were fabricated using a duplicated cast model and nanofilled composite resin. Later on, interproximal contact, tooth shape, and shade were adjusted at chairside. This technique not only enables the clinician to replace a missing tooth immediately after extraction for minimizing esthetic problems, but it also decreases both tooth reduction and cost.

Urban parks are important bird habitat in cities. Various studies have evaluated the habitat function of urban parks focused on field surveys. In this study, we performed applicability of NDVI obtained from Landsat 8 OLI image as a factor for spatial planning considered bird diversity. This study was classified with green boundary into three groups using NDVI's value. Environmental variables were calculated by the green area ratio of the surrounding area from 100m to 500m at each groups. The 20 environmental variables such as park area, park shape index, canopy of tree, etc. were derived, the regression analysis was performed as a dependent variable for the bird diversity of urban parks. As a result, the park area and the green area ratio of Group 3, classified high NDVI, within the 100m buffer were adopted as the variables in the regression model. In other words, it was confirmed that as the park becomes larger, the distribution of key green areas within a radius of 100m of the parks becomes higher, the diversity of bird species has increased. It was appropriate to use satellite image, NDVI to analyze species diversity in urban area.
This study aims to analyze exterior spatial characteristics of the detached houses in Korea which were designed by professional architects. For this, plans, pictures and data of 113 houses which appeared in architectural publications from July 1998 to June 2002 were collected and analyzed. The results of the study are like this. 1) For the shape of buildings, the number of the non-rectangular shaped buildings is higher than that of the rectangular shaped ones. ; 2) For the location of exterior gardens, the number of the houses with front gardens is higher than that of the houses with back gardens. The exterior gardens are mostly accessed from the living rooms. 3) For the interior gardens, 50% of the surveyed houses have this type of gardens. They are mostly located at the back of the living rooms. The interior gardens are mostly accessed from the living rooms, dining rooms and corridors respectively. 4) For the terraces which are located in the 1st floor, they are mostly accessed from the living rooms. : 5) For the balconies which are located in the 2nd floor, they are mostly accessed from the bedrooms.; 6) For the location of the entrances, they are mostly located in the front side of the buildings and mostly facing south.
