Though customer delight is becoming one of the most important marketing key words, research in a retail setting is limited. With the dramatic growth of online retail shopping, this study explored customer delight experiences in online shopping malls by identifying the delight elements and analyzing the elements by online purchase steps. A total of 124 delight experiences collected from an unstructured questionnaire were content-analyzed. Delight elements in online shopping were categorized into service, product, price, delivery, package, and shopping mall operation in that order. Service related elements including free gifts and letters, recovery efforts for service failure, kind employees, and easy return were most frequently observed. Delights were experienced at the product receiving point, the prior-to-purchase point, the order-to-delivery point, and the post-purchase point in that order. The results revealed that customer delights in online shopping were experienced in various purchase steps by various marketing elements. Based on the results the study provided research propositions exploring the effects of expectation vs surprise, monetary vs non-monetary/emotional benefits/rewards, and core marketing elements vs augmented services on delight experiences.

The present study was implemented to understand high school girls' buying patterns of fashion products at online and offline shopping malls; and to obtain the information needed for the development of online and offline mall marketing strategies that are differentiated from each other. The study was conducted through a descriptive survey method using questionnaires. The sample consisted of 242 girls from four high schools located in Seoul. Descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation and a paired t-test were used for the analysis of the data. Results are as follows: First, most of the high school girls (82.2%) had experience of purchasing fashion products at online shopping malls. And, those who have purchasing experience at online shopping malls, compared to those who do not have such purchasing experience, showed a higher purchasing intension at online shopping malls. Second, both the degree of pre-purchase searching and ongoing searching was higher in online shopping than in offline shopping. Third, the quality of material, place produced, brand name, and store atmosphere/type were considered more in offline shopping than in online shopping. Shopping convenience and information service about the products were considered more in online shopping than in offline shopping. Fourth, the purchasing frequency of underwear and hair accessaries was higher at offline stores than online shopping malls, but the purchasing frequency of bags was higher in online stores than offline stores. Most previous electronic commerce studies have focused on a single product or similar products. The effects of different product types have been relatively neglected. and so previous studies have limited the generalization. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of different product types. The Internet product and service classification grid proposed by Peterson et al.(1997). A survey-based approach was employed to investigate the research questions. Regression analysis demonstrated that the determinants of online shopping acceptance differ among product or service types. As a result of analysis, personal innovativeness of information technology, perceived Web security, personal privacy concerns, and product involvement can influence consumer acceptance of online shopping, but their influence varies according to product or service types.
The qualities of the technological artifact of online shopping websites and the overall support delivered by the service provider through the website are generally agreed to be crucial elements in creating customer satisfaction and loyalty. However, a lack of consensus exists on how those qualities are related to each other, what they consist of, and how they can be conceptualized. Based on relevant literature and using a servicescape framework as a theoretical lens, we divide online shopping website qualities into information and system qualities and argue that both factors affect service quality. We conceptualize each of the three types of quality as a second-order formative construct comprising its most salient quality dimensions: information quality consisting of reliability, understandability, currency, and relevance; system quality consisting of usability, availability, and responsiveness; and service quality consisting of efficiency and fulfillment. Our model of how information, system, and service qualities are related to one another and to customer satisfaction and loyalty is then tested empirically with a data set of 570 online shopping customers. Our integrated model reconciles the seemingly contradictory conceptualizations of previous researchers and provides an effective way to create customer satisfaction and loyalty.
This study investigates the differences of e-service quality depending on image interactivity technology and the influences of e-service quality on purchasing involvement and customer loyalty. Online shopping malls have made toward satisfying customers' shopping experience owing to the advance of technology. Above all, it is important to prove effectiveness of this technology to introduce it. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to test effectiveness of Image Interactivity Technology (IIT) which has been introduced by some shopping malls. For this study three shopping malls were designed as stimuli that have the different level of IIT. The women of 20-30 who have bought fashion products in online shopping malls participated in the quantitative research. Total 592 were used for the statistical analysis. Descriptive statistics, cross tabulation analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression were implemented. Four factors of e-service quality were extracted. The 3D avatar shopping mall was higher than the others in those factors. Besides, e-service quality factors influenced purchasing involvement and customer loyalty. Therefore, online shopping malls are advised to introduce IIT and improve e-service quality
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of perceived justice associated with service recovery on perceived service quality, and the relationships among perceived service quality, customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions in online apparel shopping contexts. Justice theory provided the theoretical framework for this study. The research strategy employed an online survey methodology. Online shoppers (N=669) who had experiences in service failure and dissatisfactions completed a questionnaire. The model of the study was tested by structural equation modeling (SEM) and the results of SEM revealed positive effect of perceived justice regarding service recovery on perceived service quality, positive effect of perceived service quality on customer satisfaction, and positive effect of customer satisfaction on behavioral intention. The results of this study have implications for online retailers. Online retailers need to understand the importance of service recovery by which service failures are managed.
