  • This paper designs a service-oriented wireless sensor network ontology model which can be used as a knowledge base in future ubiquitous computing. In contrast to legacy approaches, this paper defines the new service classes (ServiceProperty, LocationProperty, and PhysicalProperty), as well as their properties and constraints that enable the service-oriented service based on service items. The service item merging between the proposed model and the legacy ontology was processed using the "equivalentClass" object property of OWL. The Protege 3.3.1 and RACER 1.9.0 inference tools were used for the validation and consistency check of the proposed ontology model, respectively, and the results of service query was applied to the newly defined property in SPARQL language without reference to the properties of legacy ontology.

  • Recently, grid computing environment has being changed to the service-oriented grid integrated with Web Services. In this architecture, there is the service-oriented grid application in which Grid Services are executed according to the workflow of the grid application. This implies that the grid scheduling method needs to consider grid service characteristics. Therefore, we propose the grid service performance model based on factors such as service availability, accessibility, reliability, throughput, and slowdown, and develop service scheduling method to increase performance of the service-oriented grid application.

  • This study analyzes the factors and effects on the users' intention to switch from contact center-oriented to AI chatbot-oriented customer services by combining Push-Pull-Mooring Model and provides insights for companies considering the adoption of AI chatbots. To test the model, we surveyed users with experience using chatbots at least once across different age groups. Finally, we analyzed 176 cases for the analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics and SmartPLS 4.0. The results of hypotheses testing rejected the hypotheses for variables of inconsistent quality and low availability of push factors and low switching cost of mooring factor while accepting the hypotheses for the tardy response of push factors and all pull factors. Therefore, these findings provide important implications for researchers and practitioners who wish to conduct research or adopt AI chatbots. In conclusion, users do not feel inconvenienced by the contact center-oriented service but also perceive high trust and convenience with AI chatbot-oriented service. However, despite low switching costs, users consider chatbots a complementary tool rather than an alternative. So, companies adopting AI chatbots should consider what features the users expect from AI chatbots and facilitate these features when implementing AI chatbots.

  • VOD service provides an additional revenue model for digital broadcasting companies in addition to the existing subscription fees and advertisement-based revenue models. Therefore, each digital broadcasting company develops its own VOD service and performs frequent improvement work. In this circumstance, the developer is seeking to improve the efficiency of the VOD service development. To address the needs of such developers, this study conducted a basic study to apply the feature-oriented analysis model to the development of VOD services. The feature-oriented analysis model is recognized (through a number of case studies) as an effective tool for analyzing the requirements of softwares with the functions that are interconnected organically. In this paper, we developed a feature model of VOD service and designed the primary functions of each feature and the test-cases that can test the these functions, laying the foundation for developing VOD services based on feature-oriented analysis model.

  • Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a development paradigm for reusing services as an independent reuse unit. A service delivers a cohesive functionality through its external interface. Since services have unique characteristics which are not typically presented in conventional development approaches, there is a demand for effective approaches to developing services. Most of the current SOA methodologies presenta process where services are designed and developed from the requirements rather than reusing existing assets, which demands high cost and effort. Hence, a desirable approach is to be able to develop services by migrating from their existing legacy systems such as object-oriented system. A difficulty in this migration is that objects in object-oriented systems reveal characteristics which differ considerably from those of services. That is, objects are designed without considering commonalities among several consumers. In this paper, we first define mapping relationships between key artifacts in object-oriented system and those in SOA services. By these relationships and considering commonalities among several applications in a domain, we propose three systematic methods to migrate from object-oriented system to SOA services. Each method consists of a list of input and output artifacts and detailed guidelines which are performed in order. Through these methods, service developers can easily develop services with less effort.

  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), which supports various features such as interoperability and reusability of IT resources, comes into the spotlight as an effective approach for adapting new business environmental changes. SOA, however, has some problems including the high realization complexity and low Return on Investment (ROI). To solve these problems, Web Oriented Architecture (WOA) has gained attention. However, it also has some drawbacks about security concerns and unstable message transmissions. In this paper, we design a novel integrated architecture that classifies services into inside and outside ones and applies SOA for the former and WOA for the latter, respectively. By converging the advantages of SOA and WOA simultaneously, the proposed architecture becomes more simple and service-oriented, and can satisfy diverse requirements of customers. The usefulness evaluation of the proposed architecture is conducted through the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) scheme.

  • Service-Oriented Architecture(SOA) is an method to develop applications by developing and publishing reusable services which potentially be used in various applications, and discovering and composing right services dynamically. SOA adopts a paradigm of publish-discover-invoke, which is considerably different from object-oriented and component-based development(CBD) approaches. The service in SOA is different from function in procedural programming, object in object-oriented programming, and component in CBD, and its fundamental requirement is a high level of reusability and applicability. In SOA, service providers and service consumers are loosely coupled since the providers try to develop reusable services and the consumers try to locate right services without knowing much about the providers and their published services. Moreover, the process of searching, choosing and invoking right services is not presented in conventional programming paradigms. Therefore, conventional approaches to developing user interfaces and invoking the functionality on servers through JSP, and RMI in object-oriented programming cannot well be applicable to designing clients’ programs in SOA. Therefore, there is a high demand for a practical and systematic process for developing clients’ applications, and the such a process should be devised by considering key characteristics of services and SOA. However, little work on this area is known to date, and there has not a process for client side just except few guide lines for developing service client. In this paper, we propose a practical and systematic development process for developing clients' applications in SOA. Then, we define instructions for carrying out each activity in the process. To show the applicability of the proposed work, we show the result of applying our process in developing a services application for searching and booking hotels.
