  • In order for end-users in home networks to receive opportunities for useful services that go beyond legacy Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) services, this paper proposes a service platform that resides on the residential gateway (RG) for interworking between the home network and IPTV. This proposed service platform is called the home-oriented IPTV service platform (HISP) on the RG (HISP-RG). The proposed HISP-RG provides open architecture and functionalities to enable 3rd party IPTV service providers to locally and directly deliver home-oriented IPTV services to end-users in home networks. The HISP-RG can be an "add-on" and not a "built-in" solution for the existing standard RG. This paper introduces several home-oriented IPTV services that can be executed and delivered locally through the HISP-RG. Then, the open architecture and functionalities of the HISP-RG are defined and their requirements are specified. Finally, use cases of the HISP-RG for home-oriented IPTV services are presented.

  • In this paper, we propose an energy monitoring and management service based on wireless sensors and a home gateway for homes and buildings. Homes and buildings have a significant energy saving potential compared with other sectors. Sensing, monitoring, and managing of the information on the energy consumption are required for an efficient energy saving service. The proposed system is composed of two main components, wireless sensor and an intelligent home gateway. Wireless sensors have the ZigBee communication interface for communication, and the intelligent home gateway is an energy portal. We expect that energy saving could be achieved with this system. As a further work, we will analyze the practical impact of the proposed service.

  • Recently many peoples served multimedia data from Internet. But characteristic of multimedia-object about that effect on weight and transport-time causes Streaming Application is restricted to high-quality-service. This research propose the Quality-of-service(QoS) supporting for Home Gateway that behaving Routing and media platform equipment, using CBQ Scheduling scheme. The QoS Supporting for Multimeda Service that using general Rouging policy is difficult because media platform locate in Home Gateway. Therefore this research propose Routing mechanism to QoS support of media platform located in Gateway using TCP based CBQ Control.

  • Several gateway selection schemes have been proposed that select gateway nodes based on a single Quality of Service (QoS) path parameter, for instance path availability period, link capacity or end-to-end delay, etc. or on multiple non-QoS parameters, for instance the combination of gateway node speed, residual energy, and number of hops, for Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs). Each scheme just focuses on the ment of improve only a single network performance, i.e., network throughput, packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, or packet drop ratio. However, none of these schemes improves the overall network performance because they focus on a single QoS path parameter or on set of non-QoS parameters. To improve the overall network performance, it is necessary to select a gateway with stable path, a path with themaximum residual load capacity and the minimum latency. In this paper, we propose a gateway selection scheme that considers multiple QoS path parameters such as path availability period, available capacity and latency, to select a potential gateway node. We improve the path availability computation accuracy, we introduce a feedback system to updated path dynamics to the traffic source node and we propose an efficient method to propagate QoS parameters in our scheme. Computer simulations show that our gateway selection scheme improves throughput and packet delivery ratio with less per node energy consumption. It also improves the end-to-end delay compared to single QoS path parameter gateway selection schemes. In addition, we simulate the proposed scheme by considering weighting factors to gateway selection parameters and results show that the weighting factors improve the throughput and end-to-end delay compared to the conventional schemes.

  • Since different kinds of home network technologies coexist, seamless connections between different kinds of network protocols are essential for home computing environments. Several kinds of home network middleware have been developed and OSGi(Open Service Gateway Initiative) was initiated mainly for interoperability support with service distribution between various middleware environments. Framework, OSGi service platform, has weaknesses of passive service bundle management, user management and device management. Therefore, this paper resolves passive management parts which are critical weaknesses of OSGi Specification Version 3 and proposes SBM (Service Bundle Manager) to effiently manage various service bundles. Additionally, we verify practical effects of SBM through experiments.

  • In this work, we propose an analytic framework for evaluating the quality of service and dimensioning the link capacity in the gateway router of a smart farm with a greenhouse eco-management system. Specifically, we focus on the gateway router of an IoT network that provides an access service for smart farms. We design the link capacity of a gateway router that is used for the remote management of the greenhouse eco-management system to accommodate both time-critical and delay-tolerant traffic in a greenhouse LAN. For this purpose, we first investigate the ecosystem for smart farm, and we define the specification and requirements of the greenhouse eco-management system. Second, we propose a system model for the link capacity of a gateway that is required to guarantee the delay performance of time-critical applications in the greenhouse LAN. Finally, the validity of the proposed system is demonstrated through a series of numerical experiments.

  • Because of the rapid growth of Internet, the firewall is generally used to protect the network sorority. The firewall on Linux or FreeBSD Kernal, which is widely used, supports either Gateway or Bridge Mode. In this study, we present the firewall which supports simultaneously Gateway and Bridge Mode. For the application service, it is suggested that the firewall which has excellent expandability ran construct a network without another proxy.

  • The growth of mobile devices in Internet of Things (IoT) leads to a number of remote and controlling system related IoT applications. For instance, home automation controlling system uses client system such web apps on smartphone or web service to access the home server by sending control commands. The home server receives the command, then controls for instance the light system. The web service gateway responsible for handling clients' requests attests an internet latency when an increasing number of end users requests submit toward it. Therefore, this web service gateway fails to detect several commands, slows down predefined actions which should be performed without human intervention. In this paper, we investigate the performance of a web server-side platgorm based event-driven, non-blocking approach called Node.js against traditional thread-based server side approach to handle a large number of client requests simultaneously for remote and controlling system in IoT remote monitoring applications. The Node.JS is 40% faster than the traditional web server side features thread-based approach. The use of Node.js server-side handles a large number of clients' requests, then therefore, reduces delay in performing predefined actions automatically in IoT environment.
