A Service Discovery Scheme Based on NAPTR Resource Record (NAPTR 자원레코드 기반의 서비스 탐색기법)

  • NAPRT(Naming Authority Pointer) is a type of resource record specified in IETF RFC 2915. NAPTR enables to register various services in the Domain Name Systems and thus provides a way to discover services available on specific hosts. This paper describes the design and implementation of a Proxy DNS system aimed at supporting NAPTRs. The goal of this work is to study on the feasibility of the service discovery registered in DNS via NAPTR records and provides the result for simplicity and extensibility of implementation through the implementation of a actual Test-bed system This research result can be applied to service discovery in the resource information management for high performance GRE environments as well as to the implementation of DNS infrastructure for the ENUM.

  • OWL-S has a major leadership in the field of Web Service discovery and is being actively studied in LARKS and METEOR-S projects. These researches do not consider all components of OWL-S standards, and it is needed to enhance their discovery algorithms. In this paper, we propose matching algorithms based on process information such as process structure matching, service classification matching and business pattern matching algorithms. We also improve the QoS matching algorithm of METEOR-S project. Finally, we integrate these two kinds of matching algorithms as accommodate users preferences.

  • EPCglobal Network is based on the Electronic Product Code(EPC) and rapidly opening up to many enterprises that have close relationships with each other. Since a huge amount of logistics Information is distributed in the EPCglobal Network, it needs to manage them effectively. Global logistics companies and institutes are studying and setting up the standards about EPC Information Service(EPCIS), Object Name Service (ONS) and EPC Discovery Service(EPCDS) in the RFID and EPC-based logistics information network. In this paper, we propose expanded EPCIS and EPCDS that are satisfy EPCglobal standards and enable more effective logistics information management.

  • Efficient service discovery mechanism is a crucial feature for the usability of a wireless ad-hoc network. A wireless ad-hoc network is a temporal network formed by a collection of wireless mobile nodes without the aid of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. We propose an efficient service discovery mechanism using non-disjoint multi-path routing protocol for a wireless ad-hoc network. Our scheme has advantages of not only multi-path routing protocol but also cross-layer service discovery. By simulation, we showed that faster route recovery is possible by maintaining multiple routing paths in each node, and the route maintenance overhead can be reduced by limiting the number of multiple routing paths and by maintaining link/node non-disjoint multi-path.

  • In Smart-cities, various types of integrated services must be linked to provide services to applications. Therefore, flexibility must be ensured between services so that various services can be efficiently provided. In order to secure the flexibility among services, it is very important to have a function to dynamically discover and invoke a desired service by searching for a semantic service by reflecting a recognized context through real-time context-aware in smart-cities. To date, quite a number of semantic service discovery techniques have been developed. However, they have not been verified as suitable for use in the smart-city domain. In this study, we tried to verify the existing ones to use a suitable one. We tested most of existing semantic service discovery techniques, but we found that none of them is suitable to our research. Therefore, we developed our own semantic service discovery technique. This paper introduces our work and presents the performance evaluation results that demonstrate that our developed works well and show good performance. For the performance evaluation, the experimental system was actually constructed and the real performance was measured. In the experiment, we implemented the semantic service discovery scenario that dynamically searches and calls the services needed to provide fire accident management services in smart cities.

Node ID-based Service Discovery for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (모바일 애드-혹 네트워크를 위한 노드 ID 기반 서비스 디스커버리 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient service discovery scheme that combines peer-to-peer caching advertisement and node ID-based selective forwarding service requests. P2P caching advertisement quickly spreads available service information and reduces average response hop count since service information store in neighbor node cache. In addition, node ID-based service requests can minimize network transmission delay and can reduce network load since do not broadcast to all neighbor node. Proposed scheme does not require a central lookup server or registry and not rely on flooding that create a number of transmission messages. Simulation results show that proposed scheme improved network loads and response times since reduce a lot of messages and reduce average response hop counts using adaptive selective nodes among neighbor nodes compared to traditional flooding-based protocol.

  • Service discovery is one of the major challenges in cloud computing environment with a large number of service providers and heterogeneous services. Non-uniform naming conventions, varied types and features of services make cloud service discovery a grueling problem. With the proliferation of cloud services, it has been laborious to find services, especially from Internet-based service repositories. To address this issue, services are crawled and clustered according to their similarity. The clustered services are maintained as a catalogue in which the data published on the cloud provider's website are stored in a standard format. As there is no standard specification and a description language for cloud services, new efficient and intelligent mechanisms to discover cloud services are strongly required and desired. This paper also proposes a key-value representation to describe cloud services in a formal way and to facilitate matching between offered services and demand. Since naïve users prefer to have a query in natural language, semantic approaches are used to close the gap between the ambiguous user requirements and the service specifications. Experimental evaluation measured in terms of precision and recall of retrieved services shows that the proposed approach outperforms existing methods.

  • Mobile devices do not need the fixed network infrastructure in ad-hoc network, these devices communicate each other through the distributed control. Accordingly, mobile devices can discover several services using dynamic searching method and provide safely public ownership of these services. Ad-hoc network needs the distributed control and topology of dynamic network because the limited power for processing and network communication. This paper is devoted to provide the secure protocol that provides efficient services discovery using SDP(Service Discovery Protocol) and considers the security requirements. Proposed protocol provides the distributed control based on PKI without central server, the discovery of trusted service, secure telecommunication, the identification among mobile devices, and service access control by user authority.

  • Recently, many researchers have given high attention to the semantic web services based on the semantic web technology While existing web services use the XML-based web service description language, WSDL, semantic web services are utilizing web service description languages such as DAML-S in ontology languages. The researchers of semantic web services are generally focused on web service discovery, web service invocation, web service selection and composition, and web service execution monitoring. Especially, the semantic web service discovery as the basis to accomplish the ultimate semantic web service environment has some different properties from previous information discovery areas. Hence, it is necessary to develop the storage system and discovery mechanism appropriate to the semantic well description languages. Even though some related systems have been developed, they are not appropriate for the embedded system environment, such as intelligent robotics, in which there are some limitations on memory disk space, and computing power In this regard, we in the embedded system environment have developed the document management system which efficiently manages the web service documents described by DAML-S for the purpose of the semantic web service discovery, In addition, we address the distinguishing characteristics of the system developed in this paper, compared with the related researches.
