Prediction-based Dynamic Thread Pool System for Massively Multi-player Online Game Server

  • Online game servers usually has been using the static thread pool system. But this system is not fit for huge online game server because the overhead is always up-and-down. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the new algorithm for huge online game server. This algorithm is based on the prediction-based dynamic thread pool system. But it was developed for web servers and every 0.1 seconds the system prediction the needed numbers of threads and determine the thread pool size. Some experimental results show that the check time of 0.4 seconds is the best one for online game server and if the number of worker threads do not excess or lack to the given threshold then we do not predict and keep the current state. Otherwise we apply the prediction algorithm and change the number of threads. Some experimental results shows that this proposed algorithm reduce the overhead massively and make the performance of huge online game server improved in comparison to the static thread pool system.

  • In this paper, we introduce localization server system calculated real location of objects using raw data of location-awareness from sensor node gateway. The software architecture of localization server system consists of location calculation and actuator control based on location. Also, this system supports for collecting raw data, calculating location of real objects using raw data, correcting error from outer environment, and server for applications based on location.

  • Recently, most of the embedded system have the function of multimedia information processing and network connecting. This make the overall system more complicated and need a new approach. Moreover the embedded system must be real-time system, which are different with Linux is constructed and the kernel is redesigned on the strong-arm board in order to make the real-time embedded web-server system.

  • Linux cluster Server makes a high performance PC cluster system, and provides scalablity and availability as compared with an expensive single server. In this paper, we design and implement a VOD streaming service system to serve video and audio streaming services on the Linux cluster server. Our Streaming server supports the MS Window Media Format based on the RTSP streaming protocol.

  • In developed countries such as USA and Europe, agricultural monitoring system is developed and utilized in various fields in order to predict crop yield, observe weather conditions and anomaly, categorize crop fields, and calculate areas for each crop. These system is Web Map Service(WMS) which utilizes open source and commercial softwares, and various information collected from remote sensing data are provided. This study will utilize tools such as GeoServer, ArcGIS Server, which are widely used to monitor agricultural production, to publish Map Server and Web Application Server. This enables performance test study for future agricultural production monitoring system by making use of response time and data transfer test. When tested in identical condition GeoServer showed a better result in response time and data transfer for performance test.

  • This study was carried out to develop database system using internet fur greenhouse. The database system consisted of group monitor, client monitor. server monitor and DBMS. The results of the study are summarized as follows. 1. The monitoring module, as data collection system for database. could monitor the state of the control device and the greenhouse environment. 2 The group monitor was connected to the house monitors by RS-485 communication method. Data received by the group monitor were sent to the server monitor and then stored in database server by TCP/IP and MIDAS. 3. The data of database consisted of on growing environment. control devices, operation and cultivation data in greenhouse. It was developed using MS-SQL server. 4. Remote monitoring of greenhouse was realized in a client/server environment. The client module. which was named as the client monitor. made requests to access the measurement data of greenhouse through the remote data module of the server monitor in internet environment.

  • As the information oriented society is developing, computer is one of the necessities in our daily life. Especially, the client-server system based on internet is widely used due to the enormous amounts of data and the increasing awareness of the data security. Under these circumstances, the market of the server computer with the $57 billion global market is increasing steadily regardless of economic conditions. However, the domestic server market entirely depends on overseas companies with high technical skills and production power. Therefore, we investigates technology and development trends of the server power system to assist domestic companies in entering the global server power system market in this special paper.

  • In this study, the Web Camera System is implementation and simulated on two different architectures. In the one architecture, a Web-server and Camera-server are implemented on the same system, and the system transfers motion picture which compressed to JPEG file to users on the WWW(World Wide Web). In the other architecture, the Web-server and Camera-server are implemented on different systems, and the motion picture is transferred from the Camera-server to Web-server, and finally to users. In order to compare system performance between two architecture, data traffic is measured and simulated in the unit of byte per second and frame per second.

  • In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a Fault Tolerant VOD system. The system uses the double striping policy that a original file is sequentially striped to multiple streaming server with constant data block size and the data block of one streaming server is re-striped to the other streaming server. When a fault occurs in one streaming server, automatically the other streaming server will service.

  • In this paper, new voice message system supporting massive outbound call is proposed. Basic idea of the proposed system is to pre-process all the text-to-speech conversion process, mixing of text and attached music file and to store the results of pre-process in the cache server which is connected to the IVR. New voice message system is optimized for the voice message system supporting massive outbound call by distributing the load of the web server caused by server-side script implementation which is accessing database and generating dynamic Voice XML document over client module and server module of web server. The proposed voice message system was test-deployed in one domestic voice message application service provider and it is shown that proposed voice message system reduced the response latency problem of test-bed voice message system.
