Hybrid Interference Cancellation for OFDMA Uplink in Time-Varying Fading Channels (시변 페이딩 채널에서 상향 직교 주파수 분할 다중 접속을 위한 혼합 간섭 제거 기법)

  • In time-varying multipath fading channels, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink systems suffer severe performance degradation caused by inter-channel interference (ICI). In this paper, we propose a hybrid interference cancellation (HIC) for suppressing the degradation effect of ICI. The proposed HIC can achieve both exact interference cancellation and low detection complexity through efficient combination of parallel detection and serial cancellation. Simulation results show that, as the effect of Doppler increases, the proposed HIC achieves bit error rate (BER) performance enhancement in compared with severe performance degradation of conventional OFDMA receivers. In addition, both the computational complexity and total detection time are reduced.

  • Most of Commercial Remote Center Compliance(RCC) devices have been designed using deformable structures. In this work, we propose another type of assembly devices which generate the compliance effects by attaching the compliances (or spring) at the joints of the given mechainsm. The compliance models are derived for a serial-type, parallel-type, and hybrid-type mechanisms, respectively. In particular, a planar three-degree of freedom parallel structure is shown to have RCC points at the center of the workspace for its symmetric configuratings.

  • This paper proposes the acquisition system using the multiple antennas in DS-CDMA system. The conventional acquisition schemes using multiple antennas are the methods to utilize the multi-antenna combining and the fixed multi-beam forming of a serial acquisition. Then, this paper proposes the hybrid acquisition scheme using the fixed multi-beam forming. The numerical results show the performance comparison of two acquisition schemes in terms of the acquisition time ill the multipath Rayleigh fading channel.

  • Design and optimization study has been performed to obtain a supersonic air.launching mission for the nanosat launcher. Given mission is to launch 10kg payload to target orbit of $700km{\times}700km$. Additional design constraints are imposed by the mother plane. After the required velocity is obtained, the stag ing optimization is carried out. Serial analyses for the propulsion system and aerodynamics are performed then, the rocket trajectory optimization has been carried out. After several mission design and optimization iterations, the optimized mission which satisfies the mission target is obtained. Total weight of the three-staged air-launching rocket is 1231.4kg and the payload weight is 10 kg.

A Study on the Corrosion Prevention of the Integral Series Generator for Military Vehicles (군용차량용 엔진일체형 직렬 발전기 부식 방지에 관한 연구)

  • The military vehicle produces electric power through an engine-integrated serial hybrid generator that is connected to the engine and does not have a separate generator installation space. However, depending on the mechanical characteristics of the connection between the generator and the engine, iron oxide for internal rusting and lubrication grew scattered. The iron oxide is adhered to the starter to deteriorate the starting performance, and there is a problem that the noise of the leg due to wear of the gear is increased. To solve this problem, the connection spline material and the surface treatment of the engine were improved and the shape was changed to a grease sealing type to prevent the generation of iron oxide inside. As the shape of the generator connector composing the shafting system was changed, the integrity of the structure was confirmed through the torsional endurance test. In addition, through the actual vehicle load test, it was verified that no corrosion occurred during the target life span without internal corrosion. It was confirmed that the anti-scattering structure of the grease effectively suppresses the generation of iron oxide, thereby reducing the noise generated from the generator. In this paper, we propose a fundamental solution to the degradation of the starter and the noise generation by preventing the back corrosion caused by the serial hybrid generator installed between the engine and the transmission.

  • Diesel locomotive operates the generator with the power from the diesel engine, and it consists of the typical serial-hybrid system which operates the train wheels by converting its generated electric energy into the torque of DC (or AC) motor. However, the technology of locomotives is only focused on trains' controlling power generation mechanism. Hence, it is a current issue that the efficiency of its engine and its generator is relatively lower than that of auto vehicles'. Particularly, since there are no proper equipment to measure the amount of fuel which is essentially necessary for the efficient use of fuel, it is not easy to confirm the instant amount of fuel use as well as the exact average fuel consumption per an hour. Due to those difficulties, it is urgent to develop the device that measures the fuel consumption. Plus, this use of the developed measuring device allows the various and useful analysis relating to the fuel consumption, and this could lead to establishing the efficient driving pattern regarding to fuel saving. This device consists of two flux (fuel level) measuring censors, MCU for calculating the measured values, the information recorder for saving measured values, and the display device for indicating the fuel amount consumed during driving.

  • In recent years, robots have been used widely in industrial field and have been expanded as a result of continuous research and development for high-speed and miniaturization. The goal of this paper is to design the serial manipulator through kinematic analysis and to control the position and orientation of end-effector with respect to time. In general, a structure of industrial robot consists of several links connected in series by various types of joints, typically revolute and prismatic joints. The movement of these joints is determined in inverse kinematic analysis. Compared to the complicated structure of parallel and hybrid robot, open loop system retains the characteristic that each link is independent and is controlled easily. AC servo motor is used to place the robot end-effector toward the accurate point with the desired speed and power while it is operated by position control algorithm. The robot end-effector should trace the given trajectory within the appropriate time. The trajectory of end-effector can be displayed on the monitor of general personal computer through Opengl program.

Favorable Aortic Remodeling Following Serial False Lumen Procedures in a Case of Chronic Type IIIb Dissection

  • We report a case of acute type I aortic dissection in which an emergency graft replacement of the ascending aorta and innominate artery was performed. We performed false lumen thrombosis through hybrid thoracic endovascular aortic repair to seal the primary entry tear, followed by false lumen obliteration at the level of the descending thoracic aorta, abdominal aorta, and right common iliac artery. Over a period of 4.5 years, we used Amplatzer vascular plugs and coils based on our computed tomography angiography follow-up protocol.

  • Since tram has the advantages to reduce construction cost of infrastructure, to improve accessibility of passengers, and to offer visual pleasures, nowadays, it is one of light rails attracting public attention. Tram can be classified into two groups, one is a conventional steel-wheeled type, and the other is a rubber-tired type (bi-modal tram). The bi-modal tram propelled by the serial CNG hybrid propulsion unit has been developing since 2003 in Korea, which can realize both scheduled operation of railway and route flexibility of bus. Because the bimodal will be operated on both railway mode and bus mode, however, specific criteria and regulations for its design, certification, construction, operation and maintenance have not been determined definitely yet. In consideration of mobility enhancement for the old and the handicapped, motor vehicle safety standard and urban transit (railway vehicle) safety standard, several design specifications were proposed for car body and interiors of the bimodal tram vehicle. The design specifications proposed in this paper can be expected to promote passengers' comfort and safety, operation efficiency of the bimodal tram.

  • In this paper, a FFH-SS hybrid communication method using digital frequency synthesizer is proposed. This can simultaneously share the same frequency band with conventional band limited communication method without interference. In the experiment the selective hopping pattern is attained by some conbination of serial to parallel conversion of maximal code from pseudo random noise generater, and it is observed that the selective hopping band transition can be more easily achieved when the hop interval is nonuniform than it is uniform. Digital frequency synthesizer is now reported to have very poor spurious suppression ability below 50~60dB, the reason of this is observed from the experimental result, and the way of how to solve this problem is presneted.
