Compared to conventional flame combustion, catalytic combustion had the advantage of oxidation of V.O.C. gas which was high voluminous, low caloric mixture flow. However, the temperature of mixture gas should be over the one of catalytic reaction start and the control of reaction on the catalytic surface tends to be vulnerable. To overcome these obstacles, composition of both catalytic combustor and heat exchanger was devised and named the sequential catalytic combustion system. In this system, only trigger unit needed preheating process for transient starting time. Once trigger unit was ignited, the next unit w3s supplied heat to ignite from that and same process was performed to the last one sequentially. When it come to steady state, whole mixture gas was oxidated at each unit simultaneously and preheating for trigger unit was not needed any more. System of 100 kcalh/hr capacity was devised and operated successfully.
Catalytic Combustion used to be applied to specific conditions because of the characteristics different from flame combustion. However, many researches are focused on widening the applicant range of catalytic combustion with the competences of catalytic combustion. The development of many catalytic combustion appliances is one of the trials to overcome the restrictions of reaction and maximize the merits. In this research, past developments of appliances are depicted and new conceptual system will be introduced - sequential system. Sequential catalytic combustion system is composed of units - existing catalytic heat exchangers. This system is performed with parallel in composition and serially in operation. First, the burden of the preheating can be dramatically reduced. Second, stable operation control is expected. Lastly, Capacity expansion is flexible.
This paper presents design and operational characteristics of 150 MW pulse power system for high current pulse forming network to control trigger time. The system is composed of two capacitor bank modules. Each capacitor bank module consist of a trigger vacuum switch, 9k 33kJ capacitor, an energy dump circuit, a crowbar circuit and a pulse shaping inductor and is connected in parallel. It is controlled by trigger controller to select operational module and determine triggering time. Pspice simulation was conducted about determining parameters of components such as crowbar circuit, capacitor, pulse forming inductor, trigger vacuum switch and predicting results of experiment circuit. The result of the experiment was in good agreement with the result of the simulation. The various current shapes with 300~650 us pulse width is formed by sequential firing time control of capacitor bank module. The maximum current is about 40 kA during simultaneous triggering of two capacitor bank modules. The developed 150 MW pulse power system can be applied to high current pulse power system such as rock fragmentation power sources, Rail gun, Coil gun, nano-powers, high power microwave.
This paper presents a Clock-gating technique that reduces power dissipation of the sequential circuits in the system. The Master Clock of a Clock-gating technique is formed by a quaternary variable. It uses the covering relationship between the triggering transition of the clock and the active cycles of various flip-flops to generate a slave clock for each flip-flop in the circuit. At current RTL designs flip-flop is acted by Master clock's triggering but the Slave Clock of Clock-gating technique doesn't occur trigger when external input conditions have not matched with a condition of logic table. We have applied our clocking technique to UART controller of 8bit microprocess

A single-crystal sapphire is used as a transparent bulletproof window material; however, few studies have investigated the dynamic behavior and fracture properties under high-speed impact. High-speed and high-resolution sequential images are required to study the interaction of the bullet with the brittle ceramic materials. In this study, a device is developed to capture the sequence of high-speed impact/penetration phenomena. This system consists of a speed measurement device, a microprocessor-based camera controller, and multiple CCD cameras. By using a linear array sensor, the speed-measuring device can measure a small (diameter: up to 1 2 mm) and fast (speed: up to Mach 3) bullet. Once a bullet is launched, it passes through the speed measurement device where its time and speed is recorded, and then, the camera controller computes the exact time of arrival to the target during flight. Then, it sends the trigger signal to the cameras and flashes with a specific delay to capture the impact images sequentially. It is almost impossible to capture high-speed images without the estimation of the time of arrival. We were able to capture high-speed images using the new system with precise accuracy.

Although permeating injection is ideal for grouting reservoir embankments, it is usually combined with fracturing injection for grouting, which can disturb the original soil. Compaction with low expansive pressure followed by grout injection can overcome this problem. An expansive compaction (EC) packer was developed in this work to easily apply sequential injection and compaction at a work site. Furthermore, to achieve compaction around the grouting hole, a mixture of expansive admixtures and grout was injected with the EC packer to trigger an increase in volume of the grout material. This work verifies the compaction effect of the EC packer and the expansive admixture. It reports the concepts of the EC packer, the range of expansive compaction, the effectiveness of injection, and the results of indoor tests performed to verify the effectiveness of the expansive admixtures. The indoor testing comprised a preparatory test and the main test. The preparatory test assessed the admixtures for their compaction effects, while the main test measured and analyzed the admixtures' expansive force, pressure, and compaction effect with a mold to verify the effectiveness of the compaction effect.
Eight 300kJ modularized capacitor-banks have been constructed. These modules have been installed and assembled to make a 2.4MJ pulse power system (PPS). This 2.4MJ PPS was developed to be used as a driver of an electrothermal-chemical (ETC) gun. Each capacitor bank has six 22kV, 50kJ capacitors connected in parallel. A triggered vacuum switch (TVS-43) was adopted as a main pulse power-closing switch in each module. The module also contains a crowbar circuit made of three high-voltage diode-stacks, a multi-tap inductor and an energy-dumping resistor. Various current shapes have been formed by a sequential firing of multiple capacitor banks. Resistive dummy load has been used and various combinations of experimental parameters, such as charging voltage, trigger time and inductance, were tested to make flexible current shapes.
Objective : To prove the extents and details of cervical degeneration after anterior microforaminotomy (AMF) with 6-years follow-up. Methods : A retrospective study of 24 patients, underwent single-level AMF, was performed. Clinical and radiologic data were analyzed with office charts, questionaires, and picture achieving and communication system images. Results : According to Odom's criteria, 91.6% achieved favorable outcome. The mean visual analog scale score was improved from 8.6 to 3, and the mean neck disability index was improved from 27.9 to 7.3 (p<0.01). Eighteen cases (75%) showed disc height (DH) decrease. The disc invasion was correlated with DH decrease (p<0.05). The disc height decrease correlated with static, dynamic changes of shell angle and spur formation (p<0.05). Any radiological parameters did not affect the clinical outcome. Conclusion : AMF is an effective technique for treating unilateral cervical radiculopathy. It showed excellent surgical outcomes even in long-term follow-ups. However, a decrease in DH occurred in a considerable number of patients. Disc invasion during surgery may be the trigger of sequential degeneration.

This paper presents characteristics analysis of persistent current switch(PCS) system on a small scale by using YBCO coated conductor(CC). A high temperature superconductor(HTS) PCS system mainly consists of a PCS, a HTS magnet load and a magnet power supply(MPS). To design the optimal heater triggering switch. the three-dimensional heat conduction model was analyzed by finite element method(FEM). The electrical equivalent model considering the n-value of CC was applied to analyze current decay during persistent current mode. In the experiment and simulation, the heater was applied with a current of 0.43A and the current was ramped up to 10A and 20A with 0.2A/s. Finally, experimental results of the HTS PCS system have been compared with the theoretical results. It has been concluded that flux creep can not influence the results because the operating current was 40% of critical current and optimal sequential operation of the PCS system is indispensable to enhance its performance.
Stellar wind and radiation pressure from massive stars can trigger the formation of new generation of stars. The sequential age distribution of stars, the morphology of cometary globules, and bright-rimmed clouds have been accepted as evidence of triggered star formation. However, these characteristics do not necessarily suggest that new generation of stars are formed by the feedback of massive stars. In order to search for any physical connection between star forming events, we have initiated a study of gas and stellar kinematics in NGC 1893, where two prominent cometary nebulae are facing toward O-type stars. The spectra of gas and stars in optical and near-infrared (NIR) wavelength are obtained with Hectochelle on the 6.5m MMT and Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrograph on the 2.7m Harlan J. Smith Telescope at McDonald observatory. In this study, the radial velocity field of gas across the cluster is investigated using $H{\alpha}$ and [N II] ${\lambda}$ 6584 emission lines, and that of the cometary nebula Sim 130 is also probed using 1-0 S(1) transition line of $H_2$. We report a distinctive velocity field of the cometary nebulae and many ro-vibrational transitions of $H_2$ even at high energy levels in the NIR spectra. These properties indicate the interaction between the cometary nebulae and O-type stars, and this fact can be a clue to triggered star formation in NGC 1893.
