Model matching problem of asynchronous sequential machines is addressed in this paper. The main topic is to design a corrective controller such that the closed-loop behavior of the asynchronous sequential machine can follow a given model, i.e., their models can be "matched" in stable states. In particular, we assume that the considered asynchronous machine suffers from the presence of an input disturbance that can cause undesirable state transitions. The proposed controller can realize both model matching and elimination of the adverse effect of the input disturbance. Necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a corrective controller that solves model matching problem is presented. Whenever controller exists, algorithms for their design are outlined and demonstrated in a case study.

Two strains of rumen fungi (Piromyces rhizinflata B157, Orpinomyces joyonii SG4) and three strains of rumen cellulolytic bacteria (Ruminococcus albus B199, Ruminococcus flavefaciens FD1 and Fibrobacter succinogenes S85) were used as mono-cultures or combinationally arranged as co- and sequential-cultures to assess the relative contributions and interactions between rumen fungi and cellulolytic bacteria on rice straw degradation. The rates of dry matter degradation of co-cultures were similar to those of corresponding bacterial mono-cultures. Compared to corresponding sequential-cultures, the degradation of rice straw was reduced in all co-cultures (P<0.01). Regardless of the microbial species, the cellulolytic bacteria seemed to inhibit the degradation of rice straw by rumen fungi. The high efficiency of fungal cellulolysis seems to affect bacterial degradation rates.

In this work, a quantitative method of the sequential separation of $^{90}Pu,\;^{90}Sr$ and $^{241}Am$ nuclides was developed in environmental soil samples using by an anion exchange resin connected with a Sr Spec resin. The sequential methods of Pu, $^{90}Sr$ and $^{241}Am$ nuclides can reduce analysis cost and time. With the sequential methodupdated in this study, the activity concentrations of $^{239,240}Pu,\;^{90}Sr$ and $^{241}Am$ in the IAEA reference materials were close to the reference values reported by the IAEA.
In this paper we first investigate the existence of the generalized Fourier-Feynman transform of the functional F given by $$F(x)={\hat{\nu}}((e_1,x)^{\sim},{\ldots},(e_n,x)^{\sim})$$, where $(e,x)^{\sim}$ denotes the Paley-Wiener-Zygmund stochastic integral with $x$ in a very general function space $C_{a,b}[0,T]$ and $\hat{\nu}$ is the Fourier transform of complex measure ${\nu}$ on $B({\mathbb{R}}^n)$ with finite total variation. We then define two sequential transforms. Finally, we establish that the one is to identify the generalized Fourier-Feynman transform and the another transform acts like an inverse generalized Fourier-Feynman transform.

Cellular Automata is a discrete dynamical system that can be completely described in terms of local relation. For any given image, the system can save its features as well as increase or decrease the brightness of it locally through consideration of optimized transition in succession. These transitions in succession satisfy the function "Lyapunov" and have sequential movements. This study suggests the way of noise reduction for each image with the use of the Sequential Cellular Automata system. The mentioned transition in succession gives stable results with high-convergence performance to random noises and PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) using histograms and MSE (Mean Square Error) for verification of effectiveness.

Curve tessellation, which generates a sequence of points from a curve, is very important for curves rendering on a computer screen and for NC machining. For the most case the sequence of discrete points is used rather than a continuous curve. This paper deals with a method of tessellation by calculating the maximal deviation of a curve. The maximal deviation condition is introduced to find the point with the maximal chordal deviation on a curve segment. In the previous research a curve tessellation was tried by the subdivision method, that is, a curve is subdivided until the maximal chordal deviation is less than the given tolerance. On the other hand, a curve tessellation by sequential method is tried in this paper, that is, points are generated successively by using the local property of a curve. The sequential method generates relatively much less points than the subdivision method. Besides, the sequential method can generate a sequence of points from a spatial curve by approximation to a planar curve. The proposed method can be applied for high-accuracy curve tessellation and NC tool-path generation.

In order to design and construct a safe and economic underground structure, it is essential to understand the structural behavior of underground openings considering the effect of the sequential excavation. Therefore, this paper includes the study of initial stress distribution before excavation and stress redistribution due to the sequential excavation. And discussion on numerical simulation techniques for the sequential excavation is also included. Then, the underground structure is analyzed using the finite element and distinct element methods of analysis considering the effect of the sequential excavation. Based on the results of the analysis, the followings are discussed: shape of the openings, effect and timing of structural reinforcements. methods and sequence of excavation.

It is well known that duty-cycling control by dynamically adjusting the polling interval according to the traffic loads can effectively achieve power saving in wireless sensor networks. Thus, there has been a significant research effort in developing polling interval adaptation schemes. Especially, Dynamic Low Power Listening (DLPL) scheme is one of the most widely adopted open-looping polling interval adaptation techniques in wireless sensor networks. In DLPL scheme, if consecutive idle (busy) samplings reach a given fixed threshold, the polling interval is increased (decreased). However, due to the trial-and-error based approach, it may significantly deteriorate the system performance depending on given threshold parameters. In this paper, we propose a novel DLPL scheme, called SDL (Sequential hypothesis testing based Dynamic LPL), which employs sequential hypothesis testing to decide whether to change the polling interval conforming to various traffic conditions. Simulation results show that SDL achieves substantial power saving over state-of-the-art DLPL schemes.
In the back analysis of braced excavation based on displacement measurements, the accumulated errors of abnormal displacement caused by unexpected loads are usually observed. To minimize such errors, in this study, displacement increment was used fur back analysis rather than displacement for the conventional method. That is, the increment of sequential displacement is used as the objective function and the back analysis program is developed by taking advantage of sequential linear programming method by modified method of feasible directions. Based on small scale model test, the analysis of proposed method is verified.

This paper presents a new approach for determining an accurate incentive levels of Direct Load Control (DLC) program using sequential Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) techniques. The economic analysis of DLC resources needs to identify the hourly-by-hourly expected energy-not-served resulting from the random outage characteristics of generators as well as to reflect the availability and duration of DLC resources, which results the computational explosion. Therefore, the conventional methods are based on the scenario approaches to reduce the computation time as well as to avoid the complexity of economic studies. In this paper, we have developed a new technique based on the sequential MCS to evaluate the required expected load control amount in each hour and to decide the incentive level satisfying the economic constraints. In addition, the mathematical formulation for DLC programs' economic evaluations are developed. To show the efficiency and effectiveness of the suggested method, the numerical studies have been performed for the modified IEEE reliability test system.
