Rapid change of urban area become a serious cause of disaster in existing drainage systems, and the practical alternatives in that situations are needed. The purpose of this study is to evaluate safety, one of drainage systems, detention reservoir and pumping station by new pumping criteria. New drainage pumping criteria, divided into two parts (rising limb and falling limb), which used in reservoir routing, shows more efficient flood prevention effect than existing criteria (based on the reservoir water level). To obtain the optimal range of flood prevention, sensitivity analysis of each inflow v.s. pumping capacity is tested. As a results, using 10 year design rainfall, 60% of detention reservoir and drainage pumping stations in Seoul are safe. In this results, there must be a fundamental and powerful counterplans to prevent inland flooding in Seoul metropolitan area.
In this paper, we study the bus stop shelters, one of the public facilities, revised by the development plan of Seoul city. Dark gray and brown are dominant colours for the shelters. As representative colours, designated by Seoul city, dark gray and brown can be harmonious naturally with urban environment. However, in view of universal design, those colours have some problems to be recognized and to be used for handicapped groups, olds and childens especially. For analysis, investigating proposition and circumstance of two groups living in the city is the first place. This study is for building proper colour domains of universal design for public facilities and for recognizing that the way of public facilities should be that the ambit of public space is not regarded as a facility but recognized easily in accordance with environment including a facility. we hope that this paper is practically used as a reference for coming studies are the purposes of this study.
In vitro embryo production (IVP) is affected by various factors during in vitro maturation, fertilization, and development. In this experiment, the effect of ovary type, quality of follicular oocyte, medium used for fertilization, presence of hormone in medium, sperm concentration on in vitro maturation and fertilization were examined for effective IVP. In vitro maturation was carried out using TCM-199 supplemented with 15% FCS and hormones in 5% $CO_2$ incubator for 24h. In vitro fertilization was performed with frozen-thawed sperm in modified mTALP medium containing 0.3% BSA, $10{\mu}g/ml$ heparin, and 5mM/ml caffeine for 24h. The fertilized embryos were co-cultured on monolayer of cumulus cells in TCM-199. When oocytes were collected from functionally active and inactive ovaries, maturation rate was 76.9 and 7.7%, respectively. When oocytes were classified morphologically to good and poor grades, maturation rate was 75 and 58.8%, respectively. FSH + LH + $E_2$ (86.4%) showed higher maturation rate than control (53.0%) and FSH (73%). The fertilization rate was 28.2, 100 and 91.7% in $1.6{\times}10^5$, $5.0{\times}10^5$ and $10.0{\times}10^5$ sperm concentration per ml. When oocytes were fertilized in mTALP and BO media, fertilization and cleavage rates of oocytes in mTALP were higher (84.3 and 56.9%) than those (67.4 and 23.3%) in BO medium. In this experiment, in vitro maturation, fertilization and development of oocytes were affected by type of ovary, grade of oocyte, hormones, sperm concentration and fertilization medium.
Ionospheric delay error, one of main error sources in GPS signal, varies with signal frequency. Dual-frequency user uses L1, L2 frequency pseudorange to estimate the ionospheric delay, and there are errors caused by pseudorange measurement noise. So, filter is usually used to smooth the measurement. Weighted hatch filter can estimate optimal smoothed pseudorange measurement. But measurement noise model is needed to use this filter. In this paper, measurement noise modeling is conducted for NDGPS reference station. Using noise modeling result, weighted hatch filter estimate smoothed pseudorange measurement and ionospheric delay. Standard deviation of ionospheric dealy error drops to one-twenty fifth of non-filtered result.

In this paper we introduce the correlation-aided distributed sample acquisition (CDSA) scheme for fast cell search in IMT-2000 W-CDMA cellular system. The proposed scheme incorporates the state symbol correlation process into the comparison-correction based synchronization process of the original DSA scheme to enable fast acquisition even under very poor channel environment. for its realization, each mobile station (MS) has to store in its memory a set of state sample sequences. which are determined by the long-period scrambling sequences used in the system and the sampling interval of the state samples. CDSA based cell search is carried out in two stages : First, the MS first acquires the slot timing by using the primary synch code (PSC) and then identifies the igniter code which conveys the state samples of the current cell . Secondly. the MS identifies the scrambling code and frame timing by taking the comparison-correction based synchronization approach and, if the identification is not done satisfactorily within preset time. it initiates the state symbol correlation process which correlates the received symbol sequence with the pre-stored state sample sequences for a successful identification. As the state symbol SNR is relatively high. the state symbol correlation process enables reliable synchronization even in very low chip-SNR environment. Simulation results show that the proposed CDSA scheme outperforms the 3GPP 3-step approach, requiring the signal power of about 7 dB less for achieving the same acquisition time performance in low-SNR environments. Furthermore, it turns out very robust in the typical synchronization environment where large frequency offset exists.

The effect of co-culture with cumulus cells and granulosa cells during maturation and development on in vitro developmental potency of follicular oocytes was examined. TCM-199 supplemented with 15% FCS and hormones was used as maturation medium. Sperm from frozen semen was capacitated in modified mTALP medium containing 0.3% BSA, $10{\mu}g/ml$ heparin and 5 mM/ml caffeine. The fertilized embryos were co-cultured on monolayer of cumulus cells or granulosa cells in TCM-199. The embryo co-cultured with cumulus cells showed higher percentage of embryo developed to morula and blastocyst (73.3%) than the embryo co-cultured without cumulus cells (30.8%). The percentage of oocytes developed to morula and blastocyst among cleaved oocytes was significantly (p < 0.05) higher in the oocytes co-cultured with cumulus cells during development (62.4%) than in the oocytes co-cultured with granulosa cells during maturation and with cumulus cells during development (52.3%), and in the oocytes co-cultured with granulose cells during development (52.8%). The results of this study indicate that co-culture of in vitro fertilized embryos with cumulus cells in the development medium increased the rate of embryos developed to morula and blastocyst among cleaved oocytes.
In order to clarify the thermal and hygroscopic properties of indoor particulate matter (PM) in a semiclosed subway space, which is critically important for understanding of the distinctive particle formation processes as well as the assessment of their health effects, the size-resolved PMs (i.e., $PM_{2.5}$ and $PM_{10-2.5}$) were intensively collected on the platform of Miasageori station on the Seoul Subway Line-4. The elemental concentrations in soluble and insoluble fractions were determined by PIXE from the bulkily pretreated $PM_{2.5}$. The thermal and hygroscopic characteristics of individual particles were investigated via a combination of the unique pretreatment techniques (i.e., the high-temperature rapid thermal process and the water dialysis) and SEM-EDX analysis. Iron and calcium were unequaled in insoluble and soluble $PM_{2.5}$ fractions, respectively, with overwhelming concentration. The SEM-EDX's elemental net-counts for the pre- and post-pyrolyzed PMs newly suggest that magnesium and several elements (i.e., silica, aluminum, and calcium) may be readily involved in the newly generated subway fine PM by a high-temperature thermal processing when trains are breaking and starting. Through the water dialysis technique, it turned out that calcium has meaningful amount of water soluble fraction. Furthermore, the concentrations of the counter-ions associated with the calcium in subway $PM_{10-2.5}$ were theoretically estimated.
Plant water status during growth is directly and indirectly associated with seed yield. The objective of the present study was to determine the genotypic differences in leaf water characteristics at an early growth stage of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] plants through the pressure-bomb technique. Measurements of water potential as well as relative water content (RWC) were made at the third leaf from the fully-expanded top leaf of eight different soybean genotypes grown for 31 to 35 days after field emergence. On the basis of the modified exponential model, pressure-volume (PV) curves were fitted well ($R^2$=0.92** to 0.99** for the curvi-linear region and R=0.67** to 0.96** for the linear region), indicating that a segmented model using PROC NLIN of SAS could be used effectively to estimate the leaf water characteristics. The regression analysis for the pressure-volume (PV) curve revealed genotypic variation in the solute potential at saturation (Ψ$_{s,sat}$ :-10.7 to -14.8 bar), solute potential at incipient plasmolysis (Ψ$_{s,ip}$ : -14.3 to -18.3 bar), RWC at incipient plasmolysis (RW $C_{ip}$ : 83.3 to 91.7%), high integrated turgor pressure from saturation to plasmolysis ( $_1$$^{b}$ : 0.39 to 0.81), and maximum volumetric modulus of elasticity ($\varepsilon$$_{max}$ : 150 to 445 bar).).
Under a very tough situation that there has been increasing concern to the air quality in underground subway spaces, this study set sights on the thorough estimation of the chemical properties and source apportionment of particulate matter (PM) collected on an underground subway platform by a cooperative approach of semi-bulk and single particle analyses. The size-resolved PMs were intensively collected on the platform of Miasageori station on the Seoul Subway Line-4, and then, they were semibulkily analyzed by a PIXE and the TOR$^{(R)}$ method, and individually analyzed by a SEM-EDX. Overwhelmingly enriched iron was a notable feature of elemental concentration of $PM_{2.5}$. Source classification of iron in $PM_{10-2.5}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ performed along with their elemental concentrations, indicates that the railway originated iron accounts for 95.71% and 66.39% of total iron in $PM_{10-2.5}$ and $PM_{2.5}$, respectively. Via a stoichiometric categorization, $Fe_2O_3$, $CaAl_2Si_2O_8$, $Al_2O_3$, and $CaCO_3$ show more than 85% abundance ratio in individual coarse particles. The result of theoretical estimation of the subway derived organic carbon ($OC_{Subway}$) suggests that $OC_{Subway}$ in $PM_1$ and $PM_{2.5-1}$ account for 75.86% and 51.88% of total organic carbon, respectively.

In series of pasture improvement studies with herbicides on nonarable hilly area, the effects of different cutting intervals (10, 20, 30 and 40 days) after glyphosate (2.9 kg/ha active ingredient) application on establishment and development of surface-sown orchardgrass(Dactylis glomerata L.) and ladino clover (Trifolium repens L.) was measured during 1983-1984. The cutting intervals of the existing shrubs after glyphosate application had no differential effect on establishment, seedling vigor, dry matter yield of surface-sown pasture species and botanical composition of improved pasture. Results showed that good control of the existing shrubs for surface-sown pasture species can be achieved by cutting the shrubs from 10 to 40 days after glyphosate application.
