  • In order to study for the principle of the Dan-Jeon respiration and Seon meditation to be ascetic exercises for the sake of experience of Oriental medicine as practical science, they were investigated the theory of the Jeong-Gi-Shin. The results obtained were as fallows ; 1. The Dan-Jeon respiration was Mahayana of ascetic exercises to act demension of Gi to be observed two sides of material and spirit. 2. The Seon meditation was Mahayanea of exercises to experience demension of Shin to be the subject of life directly. 3. Even though Dan-Jeon respiration takes the golden mean of Shin, it belongs to the category of Jeon-Gi to correspond to appearance of material dimension. Seon meditation utilizes the Jeong-Gi in the stage of the golden mean of Shin. As results, Dan-Jeon respiration does not get out of the world of appearance centering around the Gi. But Seon meditation gets out of the world of appearance and utilizers the relativity in the free absoluteness.

  • In the Oriental medicine, it was recognized that mind and body have a inseparable relationship. The goal of this study was to examine the body(肉體) and self-be1ief(自己信念) and methods of self-therapy(自己治癒) in transcendental meditation(冥想療法). We will furnish the information of the basic concepts and methods in transcendental meditation. The findings are as follows: 1. The thing that you have in mind does not stay in abstract idea but materializes and operates the body. 2. When you have disease implies that you have negative belief, thought and mind. 3. When you can observe the things happening in your body and mind- just like meditation- you can have positive changes. 4. When you change the negative beliefs into positive ones on body, you feel gratitude and the disease will be cured.

  • This paper handled the problem of 'the mind' suggested by Bojo-Jinul. On the whole, I explained three fields, Jinul's way to approach 'the mind', the theory of the nature and the theory of practice and enlightenment. This paper is based on the established research papers. However the part that I explained the 'no-mind' in the theory of the nature is different from the established researchers. It is the emphasized part to interefere with Kanhwa Meditation. In this part, I explained Bojo's way to approach 'the mind' in the viewpoint of Sujeungnon(the theory of practice and enlightenment). And I clarified that his thought had been showed in his work and his system of thought is composed of Donojeomsuron(the theory of sudden enlightenment and gradual cultivation) and Kanhwa-Seon(Kanhwa-meditation). It is the theory of the nature that we handles 'the problem' philosophically. So I studied the examples of the nature and then I researched 'Kongjeokyeongjisim(the mind of the light of the divine wisdom in the void)', the foundation of 'Donojeomsu(the sudden enlightenment and gradual cultivation)' and 'Musim (no-mind)', the foundation of Kanhwaron. Finally, I inquired into 'Donojeomsuron(the theory of sudden enlightenment and gradual cultivation)' and 'Kanhwaron(Kanhwa-Meditation)' as 'Sujeungron(the theory of practice and enlightenment)'.

Finally, the characteristics of mind and body practice in Dan-Jeon-Ju-Seon. Results & Conclusions : Dan-Jeon in Dan-Jeon-Ju-Seon consists of three parts, upper, middle, and lower Dan-Jeon, which is related to Jing (sperm, essence) Qi (breath, eneregy) Shen (spirit, intellect) of our body. Jing Qi Shen is a crucial part in our mind and body, mind and body are connected by energy, and the energy flow is possible by ascent of water Chi and descent of fire Chi. Ultimately, Dan-Jeon-Ju-Seon is a method of practice to keep one's mind and body healthy, and its purpose is to do timeless meditation in our daily lives regardless of time and place.

  • The Ten Ox Herding Pictures by Kuo-an, a Zen Master of China in the Middle Ages are interpreted from the view point of the analytical psychology of C.G. Jung. Basically, I agree with the previous Jungian comments on it by M. J..Spiegelman, M.Miyuki, and H.Kawai at the Ox Herding Pictures are symbolic manifestations of the individuation process in terms of C.G.Jung. In connection with the process of Jungian analysis, I went through, not only the pictures but also the eulogies and critical comments of Zen masters in order to elucidate the symbolical meanings of each stage of spiritual development in Zen meditation. I noticed that the Ox Herding Pictures suggest the preference of suppression and conscious control of shadow in Jung's terms rather than its assimilation through making conscious the unconscious inferior personality. Also, the feminine psyche seems to be not particularly taken into consideration. In another words, different psychic aspects are represented in one single image : Ox. Due to the simplicity of pictorial expressions, the Ox Herding Pictures provide us possibilities to pour abundant imaginations into the pictures. The images comprise multiple irrational meanings; therefore it is warranted to render multiple interpretations of the Pictures as shown in the eulogies and comments by other Zen masters. The sequences of the Pictures need not coincide with a linear process but rather with a circular process of enlightenment, as Miyuki has suggested. Kuo-an's Pictures clearly suggest the danger of ego inflation and the fact that the final goal of Zen meditation should be the capability of the enlightened to serve the people.

It is very like the vocal mechanism in Medical science. 2. In the language disturbance, It is classified with dysarthria and dysphasia in Medical science. But in Oriental medicine, it is expressed the language disturbance as coma-speech lessness, stiff tongue-speechlessness, frightening-speechlessness etc. Especially in Oriental medicine, Non-utterance is called aphasia in literature study. 3. In the concern of the language disturbance and five viscera, $Heart{\cdot}Lung{\cdot}Kidney$ are counted of first importence. In differential diagnosis, It is divided sthenia-syndrome and asthenia-syndrome. Sthenia-syndrome is classified with wind-cold, fire-evil, adverseness of vital energy, stagnation of phlegm, is easy to cure. Asthenia-syndrome is classified with sexual desire, anxiety-meditation, fear, is hard to cure. 4. The pathogenesis of dysphasia originated from two factors; The first internal damages are consumption of body fluid caused by lung-dryness and yin-dificiency of lung & kidney. The second disease caused by exogenous evjls is sluggishness of lung-energy. 5. In many using points of acupuncture of the language disturbance, the order is LI-4(合谷), H-7(神門), K-l(湧泉), L-3(太衝), K-3(太谿), S-6(三陰交), H-5(通里), G-15(아門), C-23(廉泉), S-40(豊降), K-6(照海), L-7(列缺), S-36(足三里) etc.

  • One philosopher said that knowing the identity of one clump of grass on the roadside could reveal all the mysteries of the universe. If you know one, you can know two. If you know two, you can know three. If you know the form, you can know the whole. If you know the image(eidos), you can know the non-image, life, and death. But we are wandering in a dream because we don't know the one clump of grass, "One". For a long time I have been searching for a road to know "One". While studying of the process searching the truth, not only do we reveal logic development making One a language, but also we would like to provide the application of cultural contents applied to that One.
