This study was designed to investigate the effects of stimulation intensity and inter-electrode distance on the parameters of the measured sensory nerve signal. 30 healthy subjects participated in this study. Sensory nerve signals were elicited by four different pulse amplitudes, i.e., 3, 6, 9, 12 mA, with the pulse width fixed at $500{\mu}s$. The sensory nerve signals elicited by the four different pulse amplitudes were measured by four different inter-electrode distances (20, 30, 40, and 50 mm). We extracted four parameters (pulse amplitude, pulse width, pulse area, and latency time from stimulation) from the sensory nerve signals. The measured pulse amplitude and pulse width were increased when the measuring inter-electrode distance was increased while the stimulating pulse amplitude was fixed. The measured pulse amplitude was saturated with the stimulating pulse amplitudes of over 6 mA while measuring inter-electrode distance. Under the same condition, measured pulse width was increased, and sensory nerve signal was initiated early. Sensory nerve signals, specially those of pulse amplitude, were distorted by a differential amplification method that commonly measures the human body signal. The experimental results indicate that the differential amplification method is required to be replaced when measuring nerve signals. Our observations suggested that the hyperpolarization of the action potential of the sensory nerve signal for preventing distortion could be used to clarify the correlation between the parameters of the sensory nerve signals and quantification of sensations.

Each reproducing speech signal has each particular signal property, because of the processing of encoding and decoding for communications through various media. In this paper, we examine the correlation between speech signal quality and sensory pleasure for the sensory improvement of that signal. In experiments, we evaluate the quality of speech signals through various media by psychological auditory test and physical features of these signals.
Sensory perception of food/beverage products is one of the most important quality factors to determine consumer acceptability and thus sensory discrimination methodology has been a vital tool for quality management. Signal detection theory(SDT) and Thurstonian modeling provide the most advanced psychometric approach to modeling various discrimination methods. In these theories, perceptual and cognitive decisional factors are considered so that, a fundamental measure of sensory difference (d') can be computed, independent of test methods used. In this paper, sensory discrimination analysis based on SDT and Thurstonian modeling is introduced for more accurate and systematic applications of sensory and hedonic quality management in industry. Ways to realize the statistical power and relative sensitivity of sensory discrimination methods theorized in SDT and Thurstonian modeling in practice, are also discussed by using a case study of the Nongshim quality management program for drinking water in which SDT A-Not A test methodology was further optimized.

Central motion techniques are to mention the central-motion by the limpness motion function and limpness sensory unit function on the body. Central body motion is consisted of the limpness central function by the central body system. To evaluate the signal of central body motion, we are investigated a limpness value of the central function by the central body function on the static state. The concept of limpness motion function was checked the reference of limpness motion signal and limpness sensory signal by the central motion body. For assessment on the limpness sensory variation of the maximum and average in terms of central motion from the static function, and limpness value that was a limpness value of the vision condition of the Vi-${\lambda}_{MAX-AVG}$ with $8.71{\pm}-3.2units$, that was a limpness value of the vestibular condition of the Ve-${\lambda}_{MAX-AVG}$ with $3.05{\pm}-6.52units$, that was a limpness value of the somatosensory condition of the So-${\lambda}_{MAX-AVG}$ with $2.4{\pm}1.9units$. The static sensory motion was made mention of check out at the condition of the limpness sensory unit motion for the comparable values of limpness central motion that was expressed the analysis capacity by the limpness nerve system. Limpness sensory system will be to propose of the minute motion by static central motion situation and was to imply a limpness motion data of static body sensory function.
The phenomenon of color sensory has been mainly studied on the relation with the stimulus source of light source color according to dispersed energy of light. However, it has not been definitely found that the phenomenon of color sensory be collcerned with evoked potentials stimulated by object color. This paper proposes the method that evoked potentials stimulated by object colors are analyzed and examined on the phenomemon of color sensory. The model of evoked potentials is assumed that it is consisted of an additive noise and a transient signal caused by stimulus. The method which is used to estimate the signal is time-varying filtering.
In this paper Valentine Braitenberg structure based sensory motor model for object tracking control system was proposed. Conventional model based control schemes are require highly non-linear mathematical models, which require long computational time to solve complex high order equations. Contrast to conventional models proposed system simply link signal data from camera directly to the inputs of neural network, and outputs of network are directly fed into input of motor driver of camera. With simple structure of sensory motor model, real time tracking control system for dynamic object was realized successfully, and the implementation of sensory motor model can overcome the limitation of model-based control schemes.

The vomeronasal organ (VNO) is a sensory organ that influences social and/or reproductive behavior and, in many cases, the survival of an organism. The VNO is believed to mediate responses to pheromones; however, many mechanisms of signal transduction in the VNO remain elusive. Here, we examined the expression of proteins involved in signal transduction that are found in the main olfactory system in the VNO. The localization of many signaling molecules in the VNO is quite different from those in the main olfactory system, suggesting differences in signal transduction mechanisms between these two chemosensory organs. Various signaling molecules are expressed in distinct areas of VNO sensory epithelium. Interestingly, we found the expressions of groups of these signaling molecules in glandular tissues adjacent to VNO, supporting the physiological significance of these glandular tissues. Our finding of high expression of signaling proteins in glandular tissues suggests that neurohumoral factors influence glandular tissues to modulate signaling cascades that in turn alter the responses of the VNO to hormonal status.
The cbb3 cytochrome c oxidase has the dual function as a terminal oxidase and oxygen sensor in the photosynthetic bacterium, Rhodobacter sphaeroides. The cbb3 oxidase forms a signal transduction pathway together with the PrrBA two-component system that controls photosynthesis gene expression in response to changes in oxygen tension in the environment. Under aerobic conditions the cbb3 oxidase generates an inhibitory signal, which shifts the equilibrium of PrrB kinase/phosphatase activities towards the phosphatase mode. Photosynthesis genes are thereby turned off under aerobic conditions. The catalytic subunit (CcoN) of the R. sphaeroides cbb3 oxidase contains five histidine residues (H2l4, B233, H303, H320, and H444) that are conserved in all CcoN subunits of the cbb3 oxidase, but not in the catalytic subunits of other members of copper-heme superfamily oxidases. H214A mutation of CcoN affected neither catalytic activity nor sensory (signaling) function of the cbb3 oxidase, whereas H320A mutation led to almost complete loss of both catalytic activity and sensory function of the cbb3 oxidase. H233V and H444A mutations brought about the partial loss of catalytic activity and sensory function of the cbb3 oxidase. Interestingly, the H303A mutant form of the cbb3 oxidase retains the catalytic function as a cytochrome c oxidase as compared to the wild-type oxidase, while it is defective in signaling function as an oxygen sensor. H303 appears to be implicated in either signal sensing or generation of the inhibitory signal to the PrrBA two-component system.
In this paper, an approach to dynamic systems control is addressed based on exploiting the potential features of the new nonlinear neural oscillator. Neural oscillators have recently enabled robots to exhibit natural dynamics using their robustness and entrainment properties. To technically accomplish this objective, the neural oscillator should be connected to the robot joints under the sensory feedback. This also requires the neural oscillator to adapt to the non-periodic nature of arbitrary input patterns. However, even in the most widely-used Matsuoka oscillator, when an unknown quasi-periodic or non-periodic signal is applied, its output signal is not always closely entrained. Therefore, current neural oscillators may not be applied to the precise control of the dynamic systems response. We illustrate the enhanced entrainment properties of the new neural oscillator by numerical simulation and show the possibility for implementation to control a variety of dynamic systems. It is verified that the oscillator can produce rhythmic signals for generating actuator signals which can be naturally modified by incorporating sensory feedback to adapt to outer circumstances.
