말단 비대증 환자에서 발생한 양측성대마비 1예 (A Case of Bilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis from Acromegaly)

  • Acromegalic patients can develop mild upper airway obstruction. However, the limitation of both vocal folds mobility developing dyspnea is rare. We report a case with bilateral vocal cord paralysis associated with acromegaly. The patient visited our clinic presenting dyspnea showing bilateral vocal cord hypomobility in laryngoscopy. The patient underwent a tracheostomy and a transsphenoidal resection of the pituitary adenoma. Thereafter, laser cordotomy with medial arytenoidectomy was done for the permanent treatment of glottal obstruction. The tracheotomy canula was successfully removed one month after the surgery.

  • Data obtained for sensory evaluation have a wide dispersion and fuzziness since human sensory organs are used as a means of measuring sensation instead of measuring instruments. Such dispersion and fuzziness are caused by all kinds of time error and have a great influence on the sensory evaluation, but most of previous papers not consider time errors. In this study, the comparative judgement capability of the evaluator was discriminated by means of the eigen- structure analysis on the premise that evaluation values of sensory evaluators obtained by a paired-comparison become different by the order of sample presentation.

소아 망진을 위한 얼굴 영역 분할과 오관 및 명당 추출 방법 (Face Regions Segmentation and Five Sensory Organs & Myeongdang Extraction Method for Baby Ocular Inspection)

  • 현대 사회에서 평생 건강의 약속으로 소아 건강에 대한 관심이 증가되고 있다. 소아 건강은 질병의 예방이나 치료도 중요하지만 무엇보다도 정확한 진단을 통해 소아의 상태를 파악하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 한의학의 진단 방법 중 망진(望診)을 영상 처리 기술을 적용하여 소아의 건강 상태를 진단하는 방법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 살색에 기반 하여 소아 안면 영상을 추출하고 이에 오관을 추출하는 방법과 위치 정보에 기반한 명당 영역을 추출하는 방법에 대해서 제안하고자 한다. 끝으로 실험에 의해 제안한 방법의 유용성을 입증하고자 한다.

Heat shock transcription factors and sensory placode development

  • The heat shock transcription factor (HSF) family consists of at least three members in mammals and regulates expression of heat shock proteins in response to heat shock and proteotoxic stresses. Especially, HSF1 is indispensable for this response. Members of this family are also involved in development of some tissues such as the brain and reproductive organs. However, we did not know the molecular mechanisms that regulate developmental processes. Involvement of HSFs in the sensory development was implicated by the finding that human hereditary cataract is associated with mutations of the HSF4 gene. Analysis of gene-disrupted mice showed that HSF4 and HSF1 are required for the lens and the olfactory epithelium, respectively. Furthermore, a common molecular mechanism that regulates developmental processes was revealed by analyzing roles of HSFs in the two developmentally-related organs.

Antennal Sensory Organs in the Female Millipede Orthomorphella pekuensis (Polydesmida: Paradoxosomatidae)

  • The fine structural characteristics of the antennal sensory organs of a female millipede, Orthomorphella pekuensis, were observed with field emission scanning electron microscopy. On the surface of the antenna, four basic types of sensory receptor with the function of either mechanical or olfactory reception are identified in this female millipede. Of these, chaetiform sensilla (CS) and trichoid sensilla (TS) are related to mechanical reception, and four large apical cone sensilla (AS) and three subtypes of basiconic sensilla ($BS_1,\;BS_2,\;BS_3$) are likely to function in olfactory reception, as these receptors have porous structure commonly. Although this millipede also possess a number of primary or secondary sexual characters to improve the efficiency of reproduction, we could not observe their prominent sexually dimorphic characters in the antennal sensilla with the exception of minor structural and numerical differences.

  • 다양한 의료진단 자동화 기기들이 개발되고 있으나 대부분 서양의학에 집중되어 있는 현실이고, 한의학의 진단시 자동화 및 정량화를 위한 장치 개발은 미미하다. 한편, 한의학에서의 네가지 진단 방법 중 하나인 망진은 환자의 관형과 찰색을 통해 질병의 유무와 경중을 진단한다. 망진을 시행할 때 얼굴에서 이목구비와 명당 부위의 상태가 특히 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 얼굴 영상으로부터 망진을 위한 얼굴 요소들을 추출하기 위한 방법을 제안하고, 남여 얼굴 영상에 대한 실험을 통해 제안한 방법의 유용성을 보이고자 한다.

한방재료를 첨가한 타조 추출액의 영양학적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Nutritional Characteristics of Ostrich Extracts Added with Medicinal Herbs)

  • This study was undertaken to analyze chemical composition, macro- and micro-mineral contents of ostrich bone with flesh meat (BF), ostrich bone with flesh meat with herb medicine (BFll) and ostrich bone with internal organs (BI). Crude fat of the BFH was lower, but crude protein and crude ash of the BFH were significantly higher than those of the BF and the BI. Among the minerals, Ca, p, Mg, Fe, Cu, Zn content of the BFH were significantly higher than the content in the BF and the BI. The minerals, Pb, Cd and As were not detected in ostrich and herb medicine extracts. From the sensory test of ostrich and herb medicine, the preferences were in the fellowing order; ostrich bone with flesh meat with herb medicine (BFH), ostrich bone with flesh meat (BF), and ostrich bone with internal organs (BI) in extracts.

  • 본 논문에서는 사용자 영상에서 Aesthetic Measure 측정을 수행하였다. Aesthetic Measure란 우리의 감각 기관이 외부로부터 자극을 받아 감각이나 지각을 생기게 하는 감수성을 말한다. 이러한 Aesthetic Measure를 이용하여 감성으로 취급되는 색채조화 및 부조화의 문제를 수치적으로 계산하였다.

시청각 복합자극에 대한 인감감성의 변화 (Effects of Multimodal Stimuli on Human Sensibility)

  • When consumer evaluates a product, every aspec of the product affects the evaluation. Human uses at least five sensory organs for the evaluation. Multi-sensory or multi-modal design tries to add auditory and olfactory factors to the traditional visual-centered design. For the multi-modal design, it is essential to understand relationships between combined sensory stimuli and human sensibility. Information between simple sensory stimulus and human sensibility is pre-requisite to combine multi-modal stimuli. This study investigated human sensibility against 8 colors and 30 sounds, presented independently. The combined stimuli of color and sound were made based on the sensibility generated by each stimulus. Human sensibility generated by the combined stimuli of color and sound were made based on the sensibility generated by each stimulus. Human sensibility generated by the combined stimuli was investigated with 20 female subjects. For combined stimuli that generated the same kind of sensibility respectively, generated sensibility was same but strength was diminished. For combined stimuli that generated the different sensibilities respectively, subjects showed neutral sensibility or no special sensibilities. Sensibilities to the same stimuli also showed difference depending on personal background of the subjects.
